Is there way to avoid re-launching applet all the time to get bass and treble adjusted? It resets to default everytime unit goes to sleep mode. I have to re -run and touch one slider to get bass and treble back

Is that rip from IPAQ by any chance?

Yes it's the Compaq version hacked (icon & text)
i will try to reverse it in order to make a new applet with level saving.

by the way it reset only when i reset my S100, slepping mode not reset to default.

for the brightness, why you don't use the existing applet ?

Hi there,
It doesn't seem to work on my MDA II. I got it on my MDA but when I make changes in the program (f.e. boost the bass up), I can't here any difference. I tried it in Windows Media Player and Sound Explorer and also with my headset.
Maybe it is my ROM version? (1.72).

I would love a control for making my screen less brighter than the minimum setting of the standard control (for reading ebooks at night)

for Palm i had an app called EnergyDimmer, something like that for my Magician, i would buy immediately.

I just received my XDA II mini, and I was looking for this software to download, but I do not see a link. I went to your webite (www.xetranet.com) but I did not find it there either, only smartphone software. Is there anywhere to find the Bass and Treble applet?

Yeah, I got the exact problem too. Btw, I'm using the XDA Mini. Maybe it only affects the XDA Minis, and not the Qtek S100s??

Basically, to reiterate, after coming back up from sleep mode, the equalizer effects are not "activated". Even though I open the dsp app again, the slider bar still remembers my last dsp setting, but the equalizer effect is not heard. I gotta actively move the slider bar( either the bass or treble ) up or down one notch to "activate" the equalizer effects again.

Cool :D It doesn't make a WORLD of differences, but it still very nice to have :) Also if anyone cares, you can add a shortcut of the applet to your Settings/System menu by putting the DSP.exe in your Windows folder and then creating a new key to \HKLM\ControlPanel\MyCPL\ in your registry. On my XDA IIs it's key "11" and 3 new string values are needed:

1 "Description" and I named it "Headphone DSP"
2 "File" and it's the same name as the file so in my case it's "DSP.exe"
3 "Name" and I also used "Headphone DSP"

After a soft reset, you now have a new DSP shortcut in your Settings/System panel :)

sozon, you just copy the file to a folder on your Magician, say /program files/ or something, then you run it. Easy as that.

I can also add that my settings do not stick. And I'm running a Qtek S100, whatever ROM that is...

It install DSP_en.exe in Program files\dsp,

I couldn't figure out how to add it to Settings. I couldn't get the Mycpl thing to work.

Yeah, I also have this problem, together with the sleep mode problem. Even though I copy the exe file to my mini, I can't see the file using the pda's file explorer. However, I'm able to view to file thru my PC via activesync. I solve this problem by creating a shortcut using my PC, and run this shortcut instead of the actual file. Strange huh. =)

Other than that, it's really a great software. Kudos to Xetra.

After trying out the bass/treble adjustment tool on my PDA2k I have now found my mp3 playback with WMP9 and voice directions on PrymeNav gps both adversely affected. I get short duration interruptions that sound like little skips. I removed the program but the problem persists. I actually can not say positively that this problem with sound happened right after the install, but I didn't install anything else either. Sound quality now is quite low, would love to get back original sound quality. Any ideas?

I just downloaded the Bass & Treble applet..installed in \windows, set the settings I wanted. I've already soft-reseted my handheld 3 times and the settings are retained. I don't have to keep readjusting after reset or sleep mode.

So what is everyone talking about the settings go back to default every time you soft reset?

frigit
4th January 2006, 10:47 PM
The settings appear to be the same but if you move the slider bar to the left and then back to full, you will hear the difference. Great program especially if the settings stick after a soft reset.

how do you test the bass and treble settings? I was watching a Celine Dion music video with tcpmp on my handheld but whether the settings are set to 0 or FULL,I can't tell the difference. I use the headphones to test.

frigit
7th January 2006, 01:40 AM
Set your bass setting to full, listen to a song, then soft reset.
Play the same song and then move the bass setting to minimum then full again.
You should notice if there is a huge increase in bass. The bass setting stays at the setting you left it after a soft reset though it is actually at midpoint.

Fantastic - works great on my Qtek S110! Haven't detected any skips or clicks yet when using TCPMP. Anyone know why the TCPMP equaliser is so bad - that totally ruins the music?

Now I just need to solder decent earphones to this headset.

I did as suggested but still can't see the difference the bass settings make to my Magician. Maybe my mini is one of those rare ones that the settings don't work on.

Assuming you are using the standard headset, leave the treble untouched but set the bass to full or just one click short of full. It really depends on the type of music you listen to and what your ears are tuned to. I listened to some tracks on U2 Achtung Baby and find that, without the applet, the bass and some of the midrange is all but non-existant. With the app and those settings, it's still not great, as that headset is pretty rubbish, but there is a much more even level between the bass and treble.

If you have a good headset attached you may not notice so much of a difference.

Also, if you were watching a music video rather than just listening to music it may be that the audio part of the video is heavily compressed / low bitrate. Try some music encoded to at least 128kbps wma or 160kbps mp3.

The .cab did it for me, Magician 1.13 tmobile ROM. Still haven't noticed the reset-after-sleeep bug...

I dunno how people can be satisfied with default sound from gadgets like these, I've had Ipaq HX4700, very good pda, but sound was total crap. With this app you can get decent bass and now I don't need to think about SonyEricsson symbian crap to have a PDA phone that plays mp3s well. I wonder how Sennheiser in-ears will play now!!

I hvae done all the settings as instructed. But i have this comments. My JAM before plays better with deeper bass and clearer treble with the GSplayer and the DSP of course.

But with k_JAM, it seems the sound is experiencing lots of noise and unwanted disturbances. Is this normal? Do you also experience the same.?

The DSP enhancer seems doesnt work well in WM2005. Anf after the tweaking, does the slider has to move to the right or it will stay in the same place?
