ROM Upgrade information

Hi, I just bought a MDA COMPACT from T-Mobile...
I downloaded a ROM zip file from www. compactjam.com (230 mb) that contains:

- magiciandeutsch.nb1 (I suppose the German ROM)
- R_Magican_.nb1 (I suppose the English ROM)

My question is:
with this GERMAN ROM should I still backup my GERMAN ROM or I can use that one...

Hi everybody,

Can someone explain me why the english mda compact rom from nowicom is 230 mb and the french rom on the xda-developers ftp is only 25mb both zipped ?

If there is a problem with the upgrade and the pda does not work anymore, is there a way to recover the previous functioning version and how ?

Can someone also explain the differrent parts of the rom (rom, extrom, radio, bootloader) ?
