Formatting SDRAM Why?

Hi all,

I am a newbie to pocket pc and I have been reading about formatting the sd-ram card. Why do we need to do that? I thought we can just buy it and then plug it in and immediately use it.

Any infromation would be helpful... :)

first of all
SD card --> secure digital card
SDRAM --> forgot haha but it's not the same thing

With the card that came w/ my O2 mini, I did not have to format it and I could use it right away. However, it is a gd idea to format the SD card because if it's been in digital cameras and such, there'll be system files written in it.
