WWE looks to have dbase compatibility problems with contacts: gives a contact dbase read error

Thanks anyway.

Files and structures changed in 1.20. So if you just run the cab on your device . there will be some files left over from previous versions which didn't got overwrite. They may (or may not) cause problems.

BTW if you don't wanna hard-reset to clear all those files. You have to remove it manually before you install 1.20 cab.

I have the same problem.
Now, I've changed the store of picture and ringtone into my device ,not in SD card.

I have found problem in WM2003SE with SD card. Everytime, your device is off and suddenly turn-on ,SD-card cannot be detected.

Bcz the old IA CALLER ID is still running and you didn't delete it files that's why it's working with you.

First of all delete the IA caller Id shortcut from the \WINDOWS\Startup , reboot the ppc, then delete the files manually as it's posted before in this thread.

Good luck..

8) ...
Unhide/Unlock your extended ROM...
Remove the Old Caller ID (.cab)...
Copy/Paste the latest version...
Hide/Lock the extended ROM..

then Hard reset...

@rmercado : unless your old callerid cab as the same name as this one, i guess you'd better edit config.txt also.

uninstall old version without hard reset :
remove all the registry keys mentioned above, delete as much files mentioned above as it allows you to(especially WINDOWS\STARTUP\IA_Caller_ID.lnk ), reset, remove the rest of the files.

install new version without hard reset :
copy the cab to your pocketpc, tap on it in PPC file explorer, reset

(I would still recommend to modify your ext rom, even if you don't hard reset. Thus avoiding to do this uninstall/install thing again after any future hard reset)

BUT if I upgrade my ROM in future will I still have to go through the hassle and pain of registry edits?

Can someone clever come up with an automatic way to delete the files and remove the registry keys?

Hmmm.
There is somethign weird happening.
When I open photocontacts, I get all my contacts from my "contacts" application. When the phone rings, and someone from my list calls, I just get standard caller ID (just the number) - their name does not come up, the image does not come up, the ringtone that is assigned to them does not ring (I hear the default ring).

Any ideas?

But isn't true also that it is much ezier with ringtoneX to specify a tone to each group as grouped in your contact database?

With 1.20 you need to group them right from the start :!:

weird behavior...!
I gave contact1 his photo. Then I gave other contacts their photos. I went to my last contact and she already had a photo. Whose photo? The photo of contact1 ! So I deleted and added her photo. Then went back to contact1 and he had her photo in place of his...weird!

How is it that caller ID thinks that he and she are the same person????

not sure you guys encounter this problem?

I am using CallerID 1.2.
Here the steps that i do and realize the bug of synchronization with Outlook 2003 contacts.

1. open Photo contacts from PDA
2. Assign groups (all i can do is assign up to 2 person from the top list of my contacts.)
3. Open my outlook 2003 and check my contacts, none of it is assign with group.
Weird, cant assign group.

1. The only resolution that i have tested out myself is to Hard reset my PDA.
2. Open Outlook 2003, double check and make sure that there is no group assign in the contacts from Outlook 2003.
3. Syn PDA and follow by opening Photo Contacts.

Sometimes, it works.
Sometimes, it fails to work.

Well, to me, not an big issue.

As for assigning Ringtone, i personally will choose RingToneX.
However, it crashes with Microsoft Voice Command, do take note for this.

As you know, Microsoft Voice Command takes about 15 second to load up.
RingToneX also need to load all up all the contacts.

Is there anyway to change the size of the caller ID window fonts for all incoming phone calls without assigng a photo contact?

14th February 2005, 05:16 AM
i saw the fonts size in the options from Photo Contacts, but have never mess around with it.

Cause when the pop up display, the screen has enough space to display large font, therefore, not an issue for me.

MTux RingtoneX allows ringtones to be assigned to individual numbers or contact or groups. I use it and have no works fine.

Also, Caller2Picture came out with software that will allow synchrnization with MS outlook of contacts photos and ringtones last year but it does not seem to ba available any more.

ok, now the thread has become Image.

Probably you want to try on Photo Contacts by PocketX.

Not a bad app at all, only problem is the image dont syn with Outlook.

But i thumbs up with the way they create a very fine way to link the image that you created to your contact.

Example.

Your contact has this name call

Andy.

So when you create Andy's photo, you just need to name it to Andy.
Exactly how you name Andy in your contact.
Dump all the Images that you created, which has the same name as your contacts into Photo Contacts's Photo Directory.

Boom, all the created image has link to your contact.

isnt that fast, except you cant syn with Outlook.
however, you can backup the images that you created.
you can dump the images back when you do a hard reset.

Hey guys,

spent all day trying to make this version works. but it stills have bugs
when your first contact calls, after soft reset, it doesn't shows any picture nor name nor ringtone (the default one is there)
and the next time another person rings it works just fine

i could it make it work just by opening photocontacts.exe and then closing it. but it's irregular.

i finished by making it work so far by copying assigned contacts directly to sim card so caller ID don't have to go through all contacts and search for name

MTUX was working fine but ringwatcher at startup makes pocketpc freeze or take too long to boot (ROM 2.06 WWE)

if you remove ringwatcher from start up and start it manually after every soft reset it works "fine" or almost, because some time you don't get nor the name nor the assigned rigntone with the caller

Voila i wanted to share this and i'm listening for more comments

Peace

as i am new to all this technology (it seems y'all are more used to it), i am very very interested in this thread...i would really have a personal sound for each caller.
Now the problem is: i do not understand where i should go and delete or modify the files that i saw (i told you i was a newbie  ). Is there a way to overwrite automatically what needed and to erase what not? I would really apreciate if you could tell me step-by-step what everybody needs to do to have this application working (with no danger of hard resets...i am really scared from it  ...)!!!

You need to run the program "File Explorer" that came on your Blue Angel. It will allow you to go through the file hierarchy freely, just like on a desktop.

Just rename the file that are using. Then install the new Caller ID. Then Soft Reset will do. After that you can delete the file that you rename it.

Ok let's see if this can help a little :

As I mentioned in a former post,
The main difference between Caller ID 1.1x and 1.2x is the ringtones that can be linked to contact : 1.2 does whereas 1.1 does NOT.

There are several build for this program because of the link that remain between camera.exe (camtra) AND album.exe.

the former IA Style Company were used to calling their apps beginning with "IA_something" this is why many installation conflicted or did not work as it should be.
for example :
"IA_p_contact.exe" but now the main proram is called "photocontact.exe"
the new builts certainly take care of the new names of the apps depending on your ROM (because camera.exe still remain in ROM) BUT Album and CallerID are installable apps.

Be carefull to watch exactly the name of the programs these apps are calling
Just have a look at the main camera.exe with an HEX editor and search for the "IA_something" string.

If you want to install a fully functionnal Suite, you must either "patch" camera.exe and use the latest buil of Album and CallerID

for ROM 1.4x you HAVE TO use latest builts of Album and CallerID (nothing to hack) !!!!

The main improvements of these are :
fom ROM 1.3x (sorry i'm 9090 user) your MUST patch camera.exe AND Album.exe in order to use CallerID 1.2x

have a look at this post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=19323&highlight=

for registry hack of camera.exe (in order to add "Contact Photo" profile), do the the following :
go to HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\AppDefSettings\P4,DWORD:E nable and set the Value to 1
This will add a new button in the camera app in order to permit special photo format to assign to contact...

This will only work alltogether ! neither one of this hack nor patch will work by its own...Remember the 3 apps works together.

After this :
CallerID can assign photo and ringtones AND camera will be able o directly create a photo to be link to a contact.

Best Way to install clean :
If you want to upgrade this suite, unlock your extended rom, remove album and caller ID, Hard Reset THEN install latest builts

Summary for CallerID 1.2x :
ROM before 1.3x -> patch solution
ROM after 1.4x nothing to do, just upgrade.

(I hope I have been clear enough and helfull, if it was your question) ;-)
Enjoy !

I gave it a couple of soft resets to fix this. If the first person rings and you give it enough time (e.g. 10 seconds), the photo and template load as the phone is ringing (I'm not sure about ringtone as I use Mort Ring to customise ringtones as it supports caller groups using Outlook Contacts).

Hey guy, I'm kinda new here so I'm not too sure whats going on a lot but anyways; i bought my phone (HTC Titan) and when i got it the caller id didn't work. it was previously used if that has anything to do with it, but i saw this thread and i decided to try out this CAB and all of the ones on this thread installed fine but when i went to open any of them it gave me this error "Database initialization failed. (f0009859) 997:100:10" i have no clue what that means, but i just want to see who's calling me. The caller id for my sms's works just fine, but i can never see who is actually calling me it only says incoming call. Actually the only one that worked from this thread completely was that Italian one. it installed fin and it opened fine but the only problem is that i can't understand it. so if anyone could give me some help that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
