Anyone know where I can get a new screen or have my one repaired reasonably? Nasty crack on it :(

3 days after I bought my XDA 2s, my friend dropped it on the floor while it was in its casing and the touch screen cracked. Apparently the construction is a little more flimsy than my XDA which I have dropped countless times naked.

Anyway, I brought it over to the O2 service center and they had it fixed within a day for a princely amount of SGD 300.00. I think that works out to be about US 180.

Check the O2 website and find out where your service center is.

As I had the dubious honor of being the first O2 customer to bring in a 2s for repairs, they gave me a discount!

that might prove a little more tricky then. sorry. can't help much. but after going through the treads, it really seems like the XDA 2s is more prone to breakages than the XDA.

This is the shortfall for having a metal cover case. It increases the weight and also creating higher impact force on the lcd glass. I switched from palm TT to XDA IIs, and i have learnt my lessons after cracking the TT's screen. The TT also have a stylish metal cover. I think the engineers should pay more attention to the rubber sealing or "suspension" parts around the lcd display, which will definitely improve the drop impact.

XDA has a plastic cover, which can absorb a high % of the impact force when dropped. Also it is much cheaper to replace the casing than the screen....

I am sure the O2 repair centre will still replace it for you, cos this is not a maintence or manufacturer's defect. You just walk in and gave them business. The cost should be more or less the same. I dont see why they sell parts and labour to different customers at different price. But you may not have any warranty on the new display.
