I was being a little impatient BI@#@ and tapped on HimaClearJumpCode.exe after I copied it to my XDA II SD card..
I am getting the wonderful Serial error..

BEFORE you try to help.. I have no sync port.. (It broke) I can only sync with bluetooth.

I am going to buy a SD card reader now and I hope and pray there is some way I can make it auto boot from the SD card...

Does any one know if that is possible? Does anyone want my life time allegiance and thankfulness? If so, please send me the files to copy to my SD card or step by step instructions. Thank you!

(I started all this because I needed to upgrade to the new 1.7 from the Hongkong 1.60..)

Using SD card to flash is possible and to me the most highly recommended method.

You will do that through the Boot Loader menu.

I recommend you use a spare SD to backup your ROM (through Boot Loader) before you process.
Boot loader as accessible by pressing power button and soft-resetting your XDA.

There are surly more than 500 posts on this subject. I'll let you use the search facility to find-out which one is most applicable to you based on the boot loader version you have.

Yes there's a way to fix that over the SD, but I prefer rather than buying a SD CARD reader get a serial sync cable or get a cradle!!!

My power button is broken TOO and I think I can short out two of the 4 nubs that the power switch used to be connected to.. If I short out the two on the left, the blue light comes on. Is that what happens when you press and hold your power button?

Do you realize that I ran that HimaClearJumpCode program and I think that erases the first part of the ROM? Is that area of memory where the boot menu is too?

If so, my XDA II is a paperweight!

Anybody got one with a broken screen or other damage but with a good main board and ROM and sync port?

 So am I just screwed or ???
My simplified questions..
If the code erased the first part of the ROM, is there even going to be a bootloader choice? Did it erase that part of the ROM that gives me a choice to boot from an SD card?
If not,
Because my on-off switch is broken and there is only the "nubs" left on the main board, is there someway someone can tell me if their blue light comes on when the power button is pressed? If so, I am shorting the right nubs and I will simply solder a removable jumper so I can boot it up..

I just became a trader and bought the MPX300 but I still want to fix my XDAII.
Thank you very much for your help.
