Hi
Can any bobdy tell me why every time I had do a hard reset I have to rename the device when syncing with Active sync as I get a mwessage "xx" name already in use. I assume the device name is stored in the registry but I can not find it in order to delete the old names

Open up activesync on the PC with the device UNDOCKED.
Go to the file menu, then go to Delete Partnership and choose the one you want to delete.
Swift - painless - effective!

What do you do if the old names do not appear?

Search the registry on the PC for the profile name and trash any occurances that you find. Note that if you have not chosen a common word for the device name then be carefull, you only want to trash active sync related stuff!

or under c:\Documents and settings\username\Application Data\ActiveSync
are subdirs for each partnership
(or like 3waygeek says : .\Microsoft\activesync\profiles, I did it by heart since I'm not home  )

On XP SP2, they're located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles; one subdirectory per named device.
