Hello, I been considering buying a car/cup holder for the i-mate Jam. Based on the specs of an iPod, it's very similar to the i-mate. Does anyone have one of these holders currently?

FYI, the tunedok from Belkin is $9.99 (usually $25+) at amazon.com

i have the Tunedok but i dont have a Jam. i actually use the Tunedok for my iPod which is hooked in to my ICE head unit. it has a sucker in the holder which holds the iPod securely as long as both surfaces are kept clean. if the dimensions of an iPod and the Jam are similar then i cant see a problem with you using one for the Jam. you can probably even attach the charge cable if its in the middle at the bottom as that is where i plug the cables in for my iPod.

Seeing as the holder doesnt cost much anyway it may be worth buying one to see if its OK. if not you havent lost much, especially if you can return it. if it is fine, you have got a bargain.

Hope that helped a little.

PS. i prefer the look of the Tunedok to the PodPod which is why i bought it.

Tune dock will not work with the JAM, it's wider & the the ONLY way it holds an iPod in place is with the suction cup, which will not work on the JAM as it's right across the camera & mirror. Just tried it on my daughter's TD.

sclui56, thanks for checking. Would you happen to know if it would still hold securely for driving if I remove the suction cups completely? Thanks.

it would not hold securely if the suction cup was removed as that is the only thing available to keep it in. Shame the Jam wont fit in with the suction cup attached as sclui56 has pointed out.

Looks like your back to the drawing board for an alternative holder.

Sorry.

As 666 pointed out, the JAM will be loose without the use of the suction, one way is to use a velcro strip but that might look too cheap. ;)

OTOH, I am trying to locate a car mount I bought from Radio Shack I had used with my treo 600 (17-551), that holds the Treo perfectly (side grips), so it should work perfectly for the JAM as the JAM is slightly narrower. BTW, I was so frustrated for not finding the RS mount & was about to buy one, but it's discontinued but some stores still have them on shelf, just have to look.
