Hi guys, I dropped my Imate Jam, the casing has a chip on it, so for the past 3 weeks I have been trying to contact iMate in a bid to get my imate Jam case replaced.

It has taken them a total of 3 weeks to give me a price and address to send the imate to, this was a mixture of email and live support, they were terrible and didn't know anything and the replied via email were few and far between.

So I thought I would share the info to all those who need a replacement case.

First of all the cost is as follows:

Front Cover: US 16.00$ Approximately
Back Cover: US 10.00$ Approximately
Battery covers: US 13.00$ Approximately

Plus US 19$ labor charge.

Where to send:

The consignee address is as follows;

Brightpoint Middle East FZE
Service Center
Warehouse B5
Dubai Airport Free Zone
P. O. Box 54322
Dubai
United Arab Emirates

Tel: +971 4 2994659
Fax: +971 4 2995957

Contact Person: Charlotte Gariplan

I have attached a word doc that contains more info and an invoice that must be send with the phone.

Hope this helps some of you who also cannot get an answer!

FIFTY EIGHT DOLLARS to have a case changed? And then you have to send it to Dubai??

How long will it be away for?

Good thing I am from Dubai. Thanks for the added information...

I-Mate have an office here in Dubai Internet City.

How long will it be away for?

It spends upto 4 days with them to fix it and they ship it back within 4 days.

So I guess it first has to get there and get back which will add a few days.

I am guessing around 10 days total?

Is there anyway or anyone that can just sell the covers? I rather replace the casing myself than having it shipped out.

I admit the pricing on the parts alone are very reasonable.

Try http://www.htceurope.com. They were doing a full cosmetic makeover for the Orange C500 (aka SP3) (new case, clean dust from screen etc) for around £15 inc p&p, so perhaps the Jam prices might be a bit more reasonable for Euopeans. Telephone number is 0871 2230217.

HTC have said they can probably do it but it may be branded with an orange logo.

I can remove that easily.

Tehy are getting back to me later today.

Excellent news ('twas I with the info but forgot to sign in). One thing puzzles me though - AFAIK the Orange branded Magician hasn't been released yet, and the leaked photos of same show a different shaped case and buttons. It'll be interesting to see what you get!

Did you get it repaired? I read in another forum that htceurope are not doing Jam/MDA repairs and the only option was to send it to Dubai :(

I found this: ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/disassembly.zip

If you figure out how to take the front cover off without too much risk of breaking something, please let me know. :)

Ouch!!!

Anyone found anywhere yet that will supply the cases on their own, so we can fit them ourselves?

anybody have any information about the black cases? i just logged onto the club imate website and theres a black jam on the firstpage. i saw a couple on ebay but not just the case. Any clue where i could get one from, i know i could do it myself, but would like to see if i can buy one first.

I called HTC Europe and they wouldn't let me send my imate JAM for case replacement. :x Something about being only for Orange/T-Mobile customers only!

I also found a phone number on Expansys website for 'imate UK repair centre' and called them up. A full case refurbishment costs £125!

Any ideas on where I should proceed?

Update on the case, I called HTC Europe again and apparently there are a couple of differences inside the JAM and MDA compact, well that was the reason he gave for rejecting my JAM for case replacement.

Anybody can confirm this? Sounds like nonsence to me.

I've just telephoned (as there website won't let me complete the repair wizard) HTC Europe to ask about repairing my XDA IIi, I was told that I would need to call NOVA 01603 269900, who are they ?
