Hi,
As I mentioned in another thread, there is no info on how to save/backup/extract you existing ROM. I tried to use XDA-Tools and created some file with size around 30M. (I named it nk.nb1)
AFAIK, it's only "core" OS rom. So I want to capture now Radio and Ext. ROM in the same format.
Anyway, since if I do something wrong, I will loose it forever after I flush it with something else, so I would like to have more info and understanding.
Cheers,
Gorby

I am a bit lost on what you want to do.
Ext rom can be unlocked zipped and saved.
Both os and radio can be install one at a time.
Thus you can cook a rom by using radio and os from other ship files. (if you have a password).
The saving of rom files (as in a rom dump) is explained somewere. Do a search for rom dump.
Also check
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=84478#84478
There is no info about that on wiki as nobody has written any.

what i want to do is to backup my original OS, radio and ext. rom. by now i know that i can unlock my ext rom and copy it to a safe place. however, i m not sure that if restoring extended rom from this manual backup i will be able to achieve exact state of original rom. for example, dates of files will be different, reported version number could be different.
so i want to backup image of ext. rom.
moreover, i want to upgrade primarily because german interface sux for me and i need english one. so i need to backup all 3 roms.
i tried to use xda-tools but it only saves os and probably wrong because the size is too small (around 30M).
i figured out that i probably have to use d2s command from bootloader prompt. so i got an SD-card today.
it is still not clear to me how can i make 3 .nbf files that can be used later to restore my original rom with BaUpgradeUt.exe.
in addition, it would be useful for the community if i upload these roms because i didnt see that my model was mentioned here:
Operator code BRIGH102
E-Plus in Germany
OS: 1.22.01
ext: 1.22.756
radio: 1.06.00
btw, i could even write a how-to on dumping blue angel ROMs if i have enough info.
thanks,
Gorby

Well, I was able to get OS image using pmemdump:
C:\XDA-Tools\Xda Utils\build>pmemdump.exe 0x80000000 0x02000000 nk.nbf
Copying C:\XDA-Tools\Xda Utils\build\itsutils.dll to WCE:\windows\itsutils.dll
CopyProcessMemoryToFile(00000042, 80000000, 02000000, nk.nbf)
Unfortunately, I couldn't dump ext. rom and radio in this way:
C:\XDA-Tools\Xda Utils\build>pmemdump.exe 0x60000000 0x00300000 radio.nbf
CopyProcessMemoryToFile(00000042, 60000000, 00300000, radio.nbf)
ERROR: ITReadProcessMemory - Attempt to access invalid address.
C:\XDA-Tools\Xda Utils\build>pmemdump.exe 0x70000000 0x01080000 ms.nbf
CopyProcessMemoryToFile(00000042, 70000000, 01080000, ms.nbf)
ERROR: ITReadProcessMemory - Attempt to access invalid address.
Perhaps, I have to specify another process context with -p option. Which one?
Thanks,

You dont need to dump the EXT Rom.
Unlock the Exteneded rom, copy it to your desktop, rar it and upload it to this site for others.
When you need it back.
Unlock it , Un rar it , copy it to Extended_rom, Hard reset.
As for the Radio, download a copy of the 1.06.00 of the FTP site or extract it from a 1.06.00 ship.

OK. I tried to backup to SD-card and restored from it to check that it works. No problem.
I just can't easily dump it to files, but that I could figure out later. Important that backup/restore is working fine! :)
Anyway, having backup on a separate SD-card is not a bad idea anyway... I just need a bit smaller card instead of "misuse" of 512M card. :)
I'll upload my extended rom to the ftp.

Here we go finally:
/BlueAngel/Extended_Roms/Version_GER/E-Plus_Germany_QTEK_BRIGH102_Ext_Rom_122725_GER.zip
My device is:
PH20B 0 B GER R BRIGH102 1.22.01 0 1 1.22.752 1.06.00 06.00
And btw, it was successfullt flashed with:
i-mate_PDA2k_Arabic_13100_112_10600_SHIP but with radio replaced by 1.06.02.
Thanks for help and regards,
Alex
PS: I was able to backup restore all ROM's to CD-card but still need a way to copy them to PC.

What do you think will happen, if itried to upgrade my PH20B1 (MDA III with no camera) with the latest PH20B update from TMobile Germany?
The modifications in the EditFix.bat would look like this:
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B1 -sl GER -so T-MOB101 ms_.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B1 -sl GER -so T-MOB101 nk.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B1 -sl GER -so T-MOB101 radio_.nba
Will this have success or will it kill my device?
Thanks for your help,

Dont think you will have a problem, however I am not sure if we know the password for that update. It seems you are a t-mobile customer, all you need to do is run the upgrade (with out fix.bat)
Bubisch
25th February 2005, 08:52 PM
No, it does not work. My device is a PH20B1, the update is for PH20B. No go with nbftool, might be the wrong passwords. For information: i'm O2-Customer, just bought it with TMOB-Branding, because XDA III is not out until today...

Hum, thats a new one for me.
So you are saying that even if you follow the wiki info using the Imate 162 wwe and the fix.bat you cant upgrade.
q1 what does your devicedata read
q2 what is your error message
Bubisch
26th February 2005, 12:37 AM
I followed the Wiki, but i didn't try the WWE (want to stay with german language), but I tried the official TMOB Upgrade. I even tried updating just the radio rom. But it didn't work.
NBFtool still has the opinion, that its the wrong password, Upgrade Utility says, Wrong Model ID (Error 100).
Another Fix.bat from another forum says:
NBF: Wrong password
UpgrUt..: Radio Checksum Error (Error ID 123).
My device data reads the following string:
PH20B1|GER|T-MOB101|1.06.01|1.06.125|1.00.00

Pech Gehabt!
Ok a recap, you have tried the offical rom from t-mobile and it falis due to the fact that this rom was built for the PH20B and not the PH20B1.
The GER seems to have the new encription so the tool wont work on it yet.
I Have so far only been able to find one GER rom which I posted on wiki, there is talk that T-Mobile austria has one which seems to be outdated (read that one on some thread in this forum).
We have a tool in the works that will fix this problem as it can handel both the old and the new encription thus you will be able to build your own rom by adding all the parts.
What you need to find is a ship.exe for the PH20B1, this you should be able to use and delete the ndf and only leave the radio one (from the FRA 1.06.02) this will solve your radio problem.
Thats about all I can do for you given what we have at the momenta and the fact you want a GER Rom.

I just know these have to be dumb question2, but I have read and re-read the docs but the answers are still not clear to me. Here goes:
Background:
- I an iMate PDA2K operating on T-Mobile USA.
- I have upgraded my PDA2K with mamaich's extracted Cingular 1.33.10 WWE ROM.
- The upgrade went fine, but I still have my old Extended ROM and Radio images.
- Now I want to upgrade the Extended ROM and the Radio to the latest versions
Questions:
1) Which extended ROM is the new base? Is it the original base (ERK_1.31_Base) , or the latest _x ROM (ERK_1.3x_004) ?
It's not clear to me whether the latest extension is the cumulative base, or whether the original base (ERK_1.31_Base) is updated each time an extension is added.
2) Which Radio file should I download to upgrade to TMobile-compatible 1.06.02 radio image?
I tried really hard to avoid asking these dumb questions, but I would rather be safe than sorry, so i am asking. Thanks so much for this great site and any assistance.

Q are only dumb if you ask them twice.
I will do my best to help you out on this bare with me.
1)
The New base:
The short of it is that if you were to take everything that has gone through the kitchen this is what the new base would look like.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_New_Base131
This is a combination of the Base + ERK1, + ERK2, ER3....
You see which app was added by which ERK as well as what was found in the 1.22 kitchen. (left side of screen the link to that ERK).
The long version is here.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Understand_NewBase
The problem here is that a lot of people don't want all the apps so this is a suggestion or pick list that you chose from.
The applications can be found under.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Applications
The patches under:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ERK_Patches_13x
Again you need to work out by yourself which patches you need as the 1.3x has gone through a few versions and its hard to work out what is in what (as in is the camera patch part of 1.35 OS or not).
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_131vs122
Its up to you to build (cook) your own rom, to your own taste as well as adding the carrier cabs that can be found under. (if and only if they have been through the kitchen)
Version 1.2X
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Extended_ROM_Kitchen_1_22/Customization_Operator
Version 1.3x
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Extended_ROM_Kitchen_1_3X/Customization_Operator
Or taken out of the backup copy of your EXT rom (maybe in your case the EXT ROM that is still active on your device).
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Understand
2)
Now I base this answer on the fact that I dont know what your radio was in the first place.
There are 2 types of radio, the GSM one know as 1.00.00, 1. 06.00 and 1.06.02 or the CDMA radios found in the harrier or siemens. These are devices that have no sim.
If you use the wrong radio you turn your device into a paper weight.
If you have a GSM then you need to use THE SAME FILES that you used for the rom upgrade, Kill the OS rom out of that dir and add the 1.06.02 radio.
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Radio_Roms/BA_FRA_BelDT_12202_558_10602_Ship/radio_.nbf
rest of info: wiki getting started radio section.
As to the wording of wiki.
Wiki is a open site, the text in there is based on the perception of the person that wrote it and ALAS he may presume that things are understood by the reader which in fact may not be the case. It would help if you see a issue that you have found hard to understand that you correct that for others to benift from it. (edit at bootom of screen).
PS the writes spelling also sucks as you might have noticed.
Hope that helps, else come back and post your next q.

Thanks for the very clear and detailed response MDAIIIUser. This clears up quite a lot for me. So, now I get it -- I have to assemble (cook) my own Extended ROM from the piece-parts that have gone through the kitchen. I will work my way through the upgrade then look to see what clarification I might add to the wiki.
Now, what if I wanted to include something like the IBM J9 JVM in the extended ROM. Here is a post that lists the required DLLs and where to get them: http://s91215199.onlinehome.us/zaurus/JavaOnPPC2002.htm .
Is this doable?
Thanks again.

pass as I get error 404: File not found on your link.
You don't need to put anything in the extended rom, you can execute all the cabs from a temp folder. (download, copy to device, tap on them with filemanager)
The exteneded rom will only be executed on a Hard reset. This is useful as it will install all the applications on your next upgrade. Do you get that priniple?

Thanks MDAIIIUser. I believe I understand the principle: items in Extended ROM will be reloaded on the device after a hard reset (is this what you meant by "your next upgrade"?).
If this understanding is correct, that is why I am interested in loading the JVM and associated files into Extended ROM. If you follow the link, you will see how elaborate the process is to get the "on-board Java development for Pocket PC" working. My reasoning is that if I could load the JVM and other utils in Extended ROM, (1) they wouldn't take up other storage space, plus (2) I wouldn't have to repeat the process each time I upgraded or did a hard-reset. Does this logic hold-up?
Here's the correct link: http://s91215199.onlinehome.us/zaurus/JavaOnPPC2002.htm
Somehow an extra "/" was inserted in the link on my post (I'll go back and edit the original post as well). Thx.

I wont go into the why you want to do what you want to do nor what the link as this is of little intrest to me (sorry but its the truth)
You have got the concept correct that the Ext Rom will only be loaded on Hard reset. it is also limmited by size zo 16m. So why use it for the stuff you want to do?
My Ext rom is Empty as in has Nothing in it. This is so that the next time I have to do a hard reset I want Clean not customized by any carrier OS.
Try thiss for reading
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83119#83119
Keep your set up simple so that you understand it, playing in the Exteneded rom is fun but in the long run its just a dir that is hidden.
If you have to do a Hardrest you are going to be spending time reloading most of your software so just add the above to it.

Hi!
I have tried the getdevicedata.exe! Well, the outcome is very strange:
PH20B 0 B WWE E
Now, I would like to update or to know if there is an update available. But I can't find my qtek9090 in the list. I have never updated it before. I can just read my specifications in the device itself:
ROM version: 1.22.00 WWE
ROM date: 10/22/04
Radio version: 1337.38
ExtRom version: 1.22.126
Model No.: PH2OB
I think it is not branded because I bought this qtek9090 over some friends directly at HTC. So Sim is not locked and it seems that it is a bit similar to versions of New Zealand but not really.
Thus, I don't know how to proceed or which update fits to my qtek9090!
Thanks, in advance for your effort and I am looking forward to someone's answer.

Your getdevicedata output MUST be corupt, can you reload it and then in notepad delete the blanks, I feel you have missed something and/or you have only posted what you have seen on the screen and not noticed that you have a slide bar at the bottom of the window.
Given that you seem to have the qtec 1.22.126.
Wiki posts qtec 1.22.557 which should work out of the box.
(as in run the ship.exe).
Your other option is the i-mate 1.31 arabic, flush the extenede rom and add the radio 1.08.00 (also on wiki as well with the fix.bat settings).
My suggestion is for you to go for the 557 so that you have seen a upgrade that works, it will give you a better understanding of the process, then move form there to the radio, then if you feel comfortable to the extended rom.
Have fun

Hi all.
My MDAIII from T-Mobile had old version of everything (DeviceData.txt: PH20B 0 B GER R T-MOB101 1.06.01 0 1 1.06.115 1.00.00 00.00). I want also to change language to WWE so I followed guide as described in BA_Getting Started. I used pda2k_wwe_12200_162_10600_ship.exe with FIX.BAT as described, but I received 'Country ID error'.
Then I installed original update from t-mobile (ba_tmde_12201_182_10600_ship_special.exe) so atleast my ROM version is newer (ROM: 10/26/04, RADIO: 1.06.00, PROTOKOLL: 1337.38, EXTROM: 1.22.182 GER), but I would really like to have WWE.
I tried to solve Country ID error with editing HTCRUU.conf but no success.
Can anyone advice what can I do to get WWE on my device?

Well that looks cool.
I understand that you now have the new rom
(ba_tmde_12201_182_10600_ship_special.exe (this is a type II rom).
Please check that you have a activesync partnership with this device (copy any file onto it or sync you outlook)
Re-extract the pdak ship exe file
Rerun the fix.bat with the above in a dos window so that you can see if you get any errors.
You are using the files downloded from wiki and have not extracted them form any other ship.exe as the version are different.
Re run the BaUpgradeUt.exe
Then get back to us

BaUpgradeUt says ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR (and some numbers)

Have a question for you.
I not sure if you have read the other threads but I am testing the new tool.
The I-Mate 162 is a type I rom and I have not flashed that one as per list on wiki.
Would you feel like flashing it.
I have uploaded a the file, using the tool and your info.
All you need to do is extrract it and run the upgrade, no fix no nothng.
After you have doen that you will also find the Radio 1.10 in sub folder
Del the other 2 nbf, you replace the radio out of the 1.10 and run the upgrade.
If this is ok for you pm and I will send the link.

Status Report
We both have a GER MDAIII and the same Operator ID.
I tested the above fix.bat against my MDAIII Shipped as GER and ran the BaUpgradeUt.exe.
It also gave me a Country code error
I checked the header of the fixed file and found that the xda3nbftool.exe had in fact changed the Op ID and Language Code.
I extracted the ship.exe files new.
I edited the fix.bat leaving the Model ID and Language code out.
I ran the fix.bat with no errors
I ran BaUpgradeUt.exe.
This too gave me a Country code error
I checked the file header and found that the Language code was blank.
This is in fact interesting for I had flashed my device with that Rom in the past (I-mate 162), now I find I am unable to re-flash it with the old tool xda3nbftool.exe
On the other hand this is of no value as we all know that the old tool that has worked in the past (Thank you whoever wrote it) does not work on type II Rom's and thus there is a need for a new tool.
As per post above fixed the above ship.exe with the new tool and pm'ed robinio the link.
As confirmed by PM, robinio, flashed his device with new tool version with no problem, then re-flashed it again with the new tool modified radio 1.10.00, here again also with no problem.
I have updated wiki and changed the status of this Rom to Type 1 (Passed)

Here iam again, with another question - or as John Clease always said: "And now to something completely different!"
Are TPDisable and -Enable real essential commands? I think they put it in the ext. Rom to insure, that inexperienced users don't intervene the installation of the ext. Rom. Is my Oppinion right?
@mdaIIIUser: Great work! Youre doin' very well! Think, i can finish the beta version of german Rom Kitchen next weekend.
Have a nice evening :P

And the candidate get 100 points.
Both the commands are to insrure that whilst you are holding your device and watching it reset you dont get your big fat fingers on to the cancel button.
Needles to say on a cooked ext rom they should be left out just incase you have not done your homework and end up with a chatty cab.
Had a sneek look at you kuche, nice work, you have done a lot more than i could hav hoped for. So geil, was kann ich noch dazu sagen.

Hi!
I tried to upgrade from ROM 1.22, Extended ROm 122.557 to 1.40 Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition version 4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0) but it didn't work!! I fixed the country Code error but my qtek stopped at upgrade my radio. I tried it several times. Then I tried to upgrade to my old version and other even older versions but the same error occured. Now, my qtek is useless. Please help me! I have already read wiki regarding solving this problem and the thread to this ROM but it didn't work. I would be even very happy if I could upgrade my qtek to an older version.  ! It should just work! Thanks for any help in advance!

Gern gemacht!
Ok now that you have a rom and can sync with your device you need to have a go at the radio.
The best choice is to find your original ship.exe del all nbf's but the radio and run that upgrade as it seems your radio is corupt.
make sure you can connect to your device (will need to add a new active sync partnership)
After that download the type I upgrade files, download the radio 1.12 which is a type I,(all on wiki in my sig) place them all in the same dir and run that radio upgrade only.
If this all fails you need to post the content of your devicedata as clear text and I will edit the header of a radio 1.12 for you.

Hi!
I am sorry for my ignorance! But it seems that I am unable to do some things of your advice.
First I tried to locate the original radio at the ftp but I couldn't find extracted radio files. My original was designed radio for
PH20B 0 B WWE E BRIGH001 1.22.00 0 0 1.22.126 1.06.00 06.00. So my Radio was 1.06.00. But as I already mentioned I couldn't find an extracted version, just the whole upgrade with ROM, Extrom and radio. Well, I took an 1.06 Radio for xda, modified some update datas like described in Wiki and like I have done in the past but the same radio upgrade error 114 occured. I am very sorry bothering you and I have really tried to follow all instructions in wiki but it really have no clue. I only hope you still have patient and good advices.

go to wiki, blueangel home page (my sig).
pick the radio 1.12 upgrade
follow instructins
run without using the xda3nbtool.
if fails fix it with the tool, rerun.
if fails post error text in a form that i can read (not error 114 something).
Confirm the steps that you did, the name of files t at you used.
ps if you can find the original ship.exe, extract the files, delete the other 2 nbfs leaving just the radio, run the upgrade but i Might have said that on sunday at 20.48.

Ok! Sorry, I was very confused!
After gave me the advice to upgrade radio and rom seperately, I first successfully upgraded the rom from 1.22 to 1.4 then:
1. Dowloaded Radio 1.12 [(radio_.nbf) for type I ce]
2. Downloaded Upgrade tools [ (Baupgrade, Enter BL, Getdevicedata, HTC Ruu. conf, HTCruu.dll, )]
3. Put both downloaded files in one folder
4. Make sure that in HTCruu.conf file [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1 is added
5. Run the update by klicking Baupgrade
=> failed: " Device Software Update Utility- R2300 D1390- CB2.06 -1
Error 114: Radio Rom Update Error...."
Then I made a Hard reset!
Then I tried:
same 5 steps like in first procedure +
6. Add File : [xda3nbftool]
7. Add File: [Editfixbat]:
EM ~DeviceData.txt PH20B 0 B WWE E T-MOB101 1.12.22 2 2 1.12.169 1.02.00 02.00
REM Replace the question marks with the data from ~DeviceData.txt
REM 'sd' stands for device, e.g. PH20B.
REM 'sl' stands for language, e.g. WWE.
REM 'so' stands for operator (Country ID), e.g. T-M0B101.
REM ms_.nbf Password = 0x20040522

del *.nba
=> failed: " Device Software Update Utility- R2300 D1390- CB2.06 -1
Error 114: Radio Rom Update Error...."
Then I made a Hard reset!
Then I took the folder which I used to update the rom. I deleted the file nk.nbf and replaced it by the dowloaded Radio 1.12 [(radio_.nbf) for type I ce] file. Same error occured.
Then I made a Hard reset!
Then I took the modified folder BA_WWE_BelDT_12200_557_10602_SHIP.exe which I used to update the rom deleted the files nk.nbf., nk.nba ms_.nba, ms_.nbf, and replaced them by the dowloaded Radio 1.12 [(radio_.nbf) for type I ce] file. Same error occured.
Hard Reset!
Then I used my old upgrade folder for radio 1.10 which I used successfully in the past to upgrade radio to 1.10.
Same error!
Ok! My device had originally the following dates:
PH20B 0 B WWE E BRIGH001 Rom:1.22.00 Ext.Rom: 1.22.126
Radio: 1.06.00
then Upgrade
PH20B 0 B WWE E BRIGH001 Rom:1.22.00 Ext.Rom: 1.22.169
Radio: 1.06.02
then Upgrade:
PH20B 0 B WWE E BRIGH001 Rom:1.22.00 Ext.Rom: 1.22.557
Radio: 1.10.00

extract radio 1.12 (type I)
extract type I upgrade tools
add xda3nbtool
add and edit editfix bat
Remove all lines that are for the other 2 nbfs (leaving radio)
Dont change the [CHECKCEID_TYPE]
Check with file manager that you are connected to device
run editfix bat in dos window
check for errors
Run back uputil
If fails trye edtfix.bat with GER and not WWE
If fails I will post custom radio for you

I think I really would have fun if I throw my qtek against the wall!!
Well, I followed your instructions and it doesn't work! I even tried it with GER in the editfixbat. although I didn't think this would work! I hope your custom raio will work. But I have the suspicion that it won't function, because my radio file in the qtek seems to be totally damaged. I think this was caused by the program telonoff which turns on/off flight mode. My qtek gave me sometimes a radio error at that time. But I still hope for your custom modified radio! Thanks for your effort in advance...otherwise I really don't know how to proceed

Well you can't have my wall it has to many holes in it, the MDAIII is hard and although dented still works.
Ok.
in a new dir
extract type 1 upgrade tolls
add custom radio (extracted)
(link removed)
run upgradutil as is no fix.bat needed.
If Fails!
Take any Ship.exe that worked in the past and is Type I
(see wiki avalible roms)
Downgrade to that version.
in same folder del nk and ms nbfs.
Add custom radio 1.12
rerun upgradeutil to upgrade Radio only
then re run the 1.40 upgrade this time leaving the radio out of it.
Fix bat and all that stuff, you are good at in by now.

Oh Mann!! Ich raste gleich aus!
I am so thankful that you put so much effort in my radio problem.
But it is still there. After I followed all your instructions it still doesn't work.
Also in the past I upgraded the radio without any problems. I even cannot downgrade my radio anymore or reinstall my actual radio version (1.10).
The rom and the extended rom work perfect. They can be updated and downgraded.
I don't think my error is similar to things like country error or those
which are described at Wiki. My upgrade always begins totally normal until
the progress bar begins and then nothing happens anymore so it stays at 0%. After a while the error message occurs.
So I come to the conclusion that my radio file on my qtek is very heavily damaged! Perhabs I can solve it by deleting this file, but until now I see no way to get into the rom just to the extrom. Or whereever this radio file is stored!
Or is it necessary to have a rom before installing radio? As I understand it in Wiki all components are seperately upgradable.

Teif einartmen!
Ok
So you got a brick that has lights on, not much good without a radio, you can always play games on it. (sorry I do feel for you but when you reach rock bottom you can always dig)
This is about the last thing I can think of.
Drain battery until external battry empty.
remove battery and put the clip that holds the battery in place in the closed postion.
Put the device on and let it drain dead as in very dead.
Then downgrade by using a ship.exe that is for your device.
Run the ship.exe (no fix no nothing).
then up the radio
then up the ce rom
HappyGoat
4th May 2005, 12:06 AM
Try this:
1. Delete the radio_.nbf on your computer, and download a new one.
2. Make a new folder with all upgrade components in there:
- BaUpgradeUt.exe
- HTCRUU.conf and .dll
- Editfix.bat
- EnterBL.exe
- xda3nbftool.exe
- GetDeviceData.exe
3. Place your new radio_.nbf also in that folder
4. Edit the Editfix.bat to match your device data (delete the lines you do not need, these are the lines for ms_.nbf and nk_.nbf)
5. Run the Editfix.bat FROM DOS Command prompt (so do not doubleclick it!)
Now restart your computer, reconnect to your PDA, and try to reinstall the radio ROM again.
If that does not work, do as MDAIIIuser says (sorry, we answered at the same time)...go back to your original ROM (re-download that!)

But I have a question: If the cell is totally empty the dates in the storage won't be deleted. So the rom, extrom and radio wouldn't be deleted, am I right? So will it really help to repair or remove my corrupt radio file?

were saved in it. I think in the Read Only Memory (ROM, Festspeicher).

Hi.
I'm currently tinkering with MDAIII's bottom connector.
Mostly for building car-kit, but that doesn't matter right now.
What matters is that Wiki page doesn't have enough MDAIII hardware desribed.
The truth is, we still don't know well how it works.
For example, I diagnosed my MDAIII's port and noticed following:
- grounding GND/SENSE doesn't do anything
- IN_CALL doesn't change state when calling
- CAR_AUDIO_R&L doesn't produce standard line-level audio
(when connected to car amplifier or home hi-fi, the sound is hissy, without bass)
Do you think, that's my MDA's fault or the documentation is not accurate yet ?

I recomend xda-developers's wiki in concern of rom tinkering.
About car DIY kit :
I've just finished soldering and testing a pre-amplifier with equalizer.
It's doing a great job lifting the signal to proper level. However, I still couldn't get a good bass. It seems that MDAIII has somewhat hi-pass filtered cradle audio output.
I think of such solutions:
- get audio from upper (headset) connector (I don't like the idea of connecting 2.5mm jack every time I get into car)
-modify/hardwire MDAIII (that'd do good, but sounds like a surgery)
-try software (hey, this output is software controlled... maybe hi-pass filtering is done by software not strict hardware)
Any comments... solutions... suggestions.. :)

Hi,
I recently bought an MDA III at T-Mobile. I have the following versions on my MDA:
Model number: PH20B
ROM version: 1.06.00 ENG
ROM date: 08/05/04
Radio version: 1.00.00
Protocol version: 1337.30
ExtROM version: 1.06.118 WWE
BT-PPC/PE version: 1.0.0 Build 1900
Because a lot of important functionalities like Bluetooth aren't working propertly, I would like to upgrade my MDA III.
Unfortunately T-Mobile Netherlands doesn't give any upgrades. They give only half promises, that the ROM upgrade is on the way.
Which in fact means that it is on the way for about 6 months now. Anyway I'm getting tired of waiting, so I checked out some stuff from this site but I'm a bit lost..............
Hopefully somebody can tell me which patch I need and how to install it.
Thx,
Bart

Step I (Save info about your device)
Get a copy of your devicedata.txt as you might need to fix a type I rom if things dont work out.
Step II (EXT Rom save)
First you will need to save your ext rom that keeps the carierr settings in it for your network.
Use the unlock tool and instructions form Here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Tools
Copy the files onto your PC
Step III (CE Rom)
Well you can upgrade to a 1.40 rom based on the following page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
use the type II (easy methord) that way you dont need to fix it!
(I use the i-Mate rom but its your choice)
Step IV (Radio)
Now in a new install dir (DONT USE THE SAME FILES AS BEFORE)
You can replace the radio afterwards based on this page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Radio_1.13_Upgrade
STEP V
Now you can play with the extrom for better understanding read:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_RomKitchen
(I don't care about the ext rom as my carrier does not support this device, however the EXT Rom has applications and patches that are of some use, these I install direct and thus keep the ext rom empty bar the unlock tool)
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Applications
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Patches_14x
As always have fun and you are doing this at your own risk.
Get back with feedback

Hey MDAIIIuser,
Thx for the guidelines. I followed steps 1 to 4. So I upgraded everything with the Imate patch.
Untill now everything worked perfectly. But now step 5.........
I would like to install some applications which originally were on my MDA III and remove some of imate's, which I'm not going to use anyway.
Adding could be done by taking the config.txt file and adding some CAB-files from my backed-up extended_ROM files. With this I have two problems:
1. I don't have a config.txt file in my current installation (Should I make it myself? and How? What needs to be in it?)
2. I don't now what files I need to use, mainly the standard T-Mobile things I'm not sure about.
There are a lot of differences between the old and the new extended_ROM files (see attachement). Also in the old one, the config.txt file does not have all CAB files in it???????? Maybe you have an idea of what they are? Which ones that need to be added, removed or replaced
Below you can find the old config.txt file:
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\CallerIDInstall_WWE.exe
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\RestartRadio.exe
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPDisable.exe
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\Run_BTTrayCE_10.exe
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Album_EnableStreaming.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\BA_Album_WWE.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Busytone.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Run_BTTrayCE_10.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\ClearVue_WWE.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Fax_WWE.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MMS_WWE.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\patch.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMD_AP_NL.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMDNLCustomize.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMO_DialSkin.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\T-MOsetting.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\VideoMMS.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\version.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\ZIP_WWE.CAB
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPEnable.exe
RST: Reset
Hopefully I'm not bothering you too much which my shit!!!
Thanks,
Bart

Bart going into the explanation of the ext rom is to long and has been documented on wiki.
What you need to understand is the following
1) You will always be confronted with the ext rom BS on every upgrade
2) there are types of cabs that are good for most upgrades (applications)
3) Patches can conflict (BT 3500 on rom 1,40 which has BT 3900)
4) Carrier files that you might not need (MMS)
5) Two types of autorun aplications (one uses the config.txt the other not)
6) cabs DO NOT need to be installed over the ext rom folder you can execute them over file manager.
For a understanding of what the files do go to
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Cooked14x
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Cooked131
and open the ERK Of the rom to see the details.
You will need to find a rom from your own old carrier to work out what you old cabs do. (other options I feel are to advanced for you at the momnet (cabmanager).
The old files that you need are
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Extended_ROM_Kitchen_1_22/Autorun/AutoRun.exe
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Extended_ROM_Kitchen_1_22/Kitchen_Staff_only/ERK_1.22_Beta/ERK_1.22__Base/Imate_PDA2k_WWE_12200_162_10600_SHIP/Cabs/Config.txt
Edit the config.txt to meat your needs.
These are your carrier files
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMD_AP_NL.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMDNLCustomize.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMO_DialSkin.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\T-MOsetting.CAB
The rest of the appliactions and patches can be found in the kitchen, download what you need and the config.txt line you can cut and paste of that page.
hope it helps

Type I roms use the nbftool to fix them with the data out of devicedata.txt.
Type II roms use the ma_no... tool to bypass the country code error.
All of the 1.40 roms are type II. there is however a type I conversion of a 1.40 rom on the avlible roms wiki page.
The best option is to follow the wiki 1.40 upgrade page and the follow the radio 1.13 upgrade page, use the files on that page and DONT mix them up.

Please Help me.
I have a Blue Angel Qtek 9090 with 1.12.00 WWE (09/02/04), with Radio 1.13.00, Protocol 1337.42, ExtROM version: 1.12.120 WWE and BlueTooth 1.0.0.3900. As you can see by the numbers above, i upgraded successfully the BT and Radio ROMs, but i couldn't upgrade the actual "master" ROM.
All I wanna is to have it in Portuguese. I've downloaded DUMP_QTEK_14000_148_12000_portuguese and all other apps and upgrader tools, but i can't make it work  and yes, i readed the faq.
How can i upgrade it?

I have scrolled many times and also printed and read many times the materials that are to be found on wiki, but I have still something unclear. I have an SPV M2000 and I wanted to upgrade to the WM5, cause this WM2003 that the SPV currently has, has some problems - for example when I push the Camera button, there is no Camera function, but opens the Windows Media Player. And I have reached till the step 4 of the "HTC_Blueangel_WM5_Wizard Port_v 1.3-Tu Ma", where I have difficulties to overcome this step 4. There says: "Patch your ROM with the data in DeviceData.txt", but I don't know how to do this. Should I put the nk.nbf along with devicedata.txt, EditFix.bat, and XDA3NbfTool? And how to patch the ROM with my "devicedata.txt"?
thanks in advance
HDuser
2nd April 2006, 07:16 PM
The devicedata.txt is the info of your rom, this info you need to use to edit the editfix.bat.
This you then need to run with the nbf file in the same dir.
This will thus patch your nbf file with your settings and you will beable to run the update utilaty without getting a error.
Unless you remove the lines in editfix.bat for the radio and extended rom nbf you will get error messages about "cant find file".
wiki getting started goes into this subject in more detail.

Yes i have read the whole list of points but it wont work ;(
I have an SPV M2000 with 1.40 / 1.06.02 WWE and i want a (simlockfree)
-BA_DT_WWE_DutchRetail_14000_556_11300_Ship
-BA_WWE_14000_147_11200_Ship
-PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200.exe
The version Qtek or Imate doesn't matter because i want an unbrandded simlock free phone.
What i have done:
BA_DT_WWE_DutchRetail_14000_556_11300_Ship
Device.txt: PH20B 0 B WWE E ORANG005 1.40.00 0 0 1.06.02 06.02
I have made :
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG005 ms_.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG005 nk.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG005 radio_.nba
xda3nbftool -x ms_.nbf ms_.nba 0x20040522
xda3nbftool -x nk.nbf nk.nba 0x20040521
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nbf radio_.nba 0x20040523
But then i get an error 123 radio image file checksum error.
But with the:
-BA_WWE_14000_147_11200_Ship
-PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200.exe
I cant get the file because fix.bat cant make a header or a wrong password ?
Can anyone say me what im doing wrong ?
tnx Rob

Rob
The fix.bat was needed for the older roms and does not work with the newer ones.
You seem to have a 1.40 rom to upgrade to 1.42 follow the upgrade instructions on wiki.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.42.00_Upgrade
You seem to have an old radio, to upgrade to 1.15 follow the wiki instructions.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Radio_1.15_Upgrade
The sim unlock (which will allow you to use any sim on your device) can be found also on wiki.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Unlock_Sim
The Phone branding (splash screens and network settings) are found in the ext rom which is covered in the wiki kitchen.

Im an idiot, and yes i have read getting started, however, i admit i am fully overwhelmed by it, and do not really understand it all, so have a few questions, in hope someone could shed some light.
I had an 02 Xda IIs, however im now on Orange, and would like to keep the phone.
I have managed to unlock it, that was nice and simple thanks to this site, so woo hoo :-D
I am reading into updating the ROM, to get rid of all the annoying O2 stuff, and put it onto an Orange one.
From what i see there is a 1.42 ROM on the wiki, but thats just for tmobile UK?
I then looked at the 1.40 and it did have an orange rom but it was for NL . meaning netherlands, but then i was reading elsewhere in the forums, i found an orange 1.40 ROM
Orange UK WWE ORANG001 1.40.00 1.40.179 1.06.02 Download Thread 2
(from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Upgrades)
now the instructions for installing a rom on the wiki are right over my head, but on the Orange Website, the instructions for installing that rom
http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=OUKPersonal&c=OUKPage&catID=1096364420631&cid=1096359217080&pid=1096364420640&product=Feature&t=Product#answer
are a lot more at my level, download the file, and run it, and follow the instructions.
Now my questions:
Is it possible just to update an 02 phone straight to Orange? (using the update on the Orange site), or is the simple Orange instructions designed for a phone which already has the Orange software to begin with?
If so, what version ROM should i try and upgrade to?
Also, i have bought some A2DP headphones, so would need to upgrade to the latest Radio and bluetooth ROMS too ?
Would an older Orange ROM be compatible with newer Radio & Bluetooth ROMs, or is that a nono?
Also, is Bluetooth version : 1.0.0.3900 (which the wiki says is the latest) the A2DP compatible one? or is it that, and an extra add on?
Thanks for your time, and sorry for my bad explanations/poor phrasing/lack of mental abilities to understand the wiki
J.

Hi 3lj,
The ROM you use has no effect on whether or not your phone is SIMlocked to a particular network.
I use the 1.42 TMobile UK ROM on my unlocked Qtek 9090 (PH20B).
I've not seen any problems arise from this ROM, despite having a vodafone SIM.

Really?
Wowzers, thats great news, so it didnt come with loads of T-mobile logos and everything :-/
Does that mean if i change my rom to it, im still going to have the 02 logos and active stuff ... is that what the extended rom thing is all about?
Either way, the latest Tmobile rom has the latest radio and bluetooth right?
So it will be update them all in one go, woo hoo
Thanks

The ROM does come with some t-mobile branding. The boot splash screen says t-mobile, and the phone app has a t-mobile backdrop.
You can avoid the phone app branding by extracting the updater application to a directory and deleting "ms_.nbf" prior to running "BAupgradeUT.exe" to start the upgrade. This will avoid changing the extended ROM contents of your phone.
3lj
23rd May 2006, 07:02 PM
Oooh
so if i delete the ms_.nbf then it will keep its current settings? or go a default no settings phone?
In that case, could i take the ms_.nbf of the orange update, and put it with the latest tmobile rom upgrade?
is that what these cooked roms are all about then? mixing and matching?
Thanks again :-D
thingonaspring
24th May 2006, 12:45 AM
You can mix any extended ROM with any base ROM. This may or may not be a good idea depending on the mix you choose.
My prefered way is to have nothing in the extended ROM, and manually install any custom apps/personalisations as and when.
This has the added advantage that you can repatition the extended ROM size to a minimum value (recommended 128kb) and use the reclaimed space as extra storage for PIM data and programs.
A rare few CABs will only install from extended ROM as the autoinstaller for extensions is called before some windows services start up and lock certain files. I've only personally encountered this with TuMA 1.3's orignal extended ROM, but other examples may exist.

Wow
So i finally went ahead, and tried the orange upgrade, and at first i got a country id error, so then tried with the other program it recomends on your wiki,
did it first time, and it said error again, and was panicing as it was just a blank screen with usb and the active sink software said disconnected, i then read it said, if it didnt work, try again
i did, and it then installed it all :-D
I was tempted to upgrade to the normal base ROM (from 1.40 to 1.42 tmobile one), but decided against it, it appeared to work fine, and then i upgraded the radio (the bluetooth was already done) and then the a2dp update and its all perfect now :-D
Thank you for writing a great wiki, and for all your help, i was overwhelmed at first, but once i gave it a go, it was absolutley easy peasy :-D

This is for a Siemens SX66 Cingular.
Ok, so way back when the WM2005 first became useable on a BlueAngel, I updated my rom to it, i went through the whole process, it worked fine. Phone was too slow to use well, and was also kinda big to carry around, so I ended up putting it down and using a Razr for several months.
Flash foward to now. I decided that I wanted to use the phone again, and came to this site to update to a newer ROM, in hopes that it would fix the majority of the issues.
So I tried to update from the WM2005 version that I had to a newer one (Ivan V4 R2.1). It didn't work, gave me an ERROR 100: MODEL ID ERROR
I tried a whole bunch of other 2005 roms. All gave me the same error.
I figured I'd try and downgrade to 2003 and try again. I downgraded fine, but any of the 2005 roms still failed.
Looked on the forum, and only thing I could fine about a model error was to get a Shipped rom first and use it. Did that, and it is still giveing me the error. Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT ++++++++
Ok, so I figured out that none of the newer versions of roms (TuMa, Logout, Ivan) dont include the MaUpgradeUt, and dont include them in the instructions anywhere... finally going back to mammich's, he had a folder for it. I used that and it worked... altho its working very slowly.

I can upgrae my MDAIII (T-MOB003) to any ROM I want, thanks to xda-dev.
Now there's only 1 ROM I badly want: The 119 Ext ROM from T-MOB NL, since that has Blackberry Client.
Somehow just that ROM gets installed (no reported issues) but it does not seem to accept/install the Ext ROM.
If I manually start to install from the ExtROM, I get an error that the files are not WM2003 compatible cabs.
Now I try to install my a ROM that I know works (a 1.42 from TMOB UK, and replaced the ext rom with the 199 ext rom of TMOB NL (the 119).
Am I doing something extremely stupid, or should this work (both ROM 1.42)?
I'm lost...

Short answer
read wiki extended rom kitchen
Long answer
Unlock your ext rom
Unhide your ext rom
Save the files to your PC (incase you need them again)
Download the ext rom you want from
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Available_Ext_Roms
Extract the files to your PC
Copy those files or just the ones you need to you ext rom
EDIT the config.txt if you have only copied some files
Lock the ext rom
hide the ext rom
Hard reset.
NOTE:
If you just want the SPECIAL cabs then copy what you want to your device and run them (Tap on them with file explorer).
This way you WILL note need to reinstall everthing.

I am experienced at upgrading XDA 2s and have not had any problems upgrading the radio till now. I am also trying to upgrade a silver Imate version radio from the telstra proprietry radio to radio 1.15 using the no ID upgrade tool. I also get the country code ID error. Curiously this unit is slightly different to the 2s - it has a flash gun & the sim is loaded in the bottom left under the battery.
I am also having issues upgrading this unit to WM 5 (Tuma 1.3) - it says the device ROM is not compatable. I managed to reflash a 1.42 2s ROM & I can unhide / unlock the extended rom.
I also found that I cannot repartition the storage to for example 128kb. This is also has some type of flow failure.
Has anyone else successfully upgraded a silver Imate with a flash gun? PH20A
Any help would be appreciated as well.

So what I understand is the with the noid...exe you can flash your rom but only if you dont have the radio.nbf in that dir.
This sounds like you have a RADIO Type I/II issue

Sounds like you phone has a glitch in it.
I have seen unwanted resets due to bad (china) batteries (yes I bought one).
I have seen BA phone outbound calls that get cut off if batterey is below 20%.
I have seen inbound calls not been answered as the keyboard was locked but think that is an issue with I-pass.
I have read a lot of o2 users bitching about wierd things that are due to some o2 software that is preinstalled
(cant remember what it was called but had some corporate option in it). They just removed it.
In general I would sugest that you reflash (and upgrade) you device.

I have made a mistake, I tried to Expanding the Storage memory on WM5 OS
no my device - PDA2K is dead
I can't downroll to WM2003, the installation goes OK through radio version installation and get stack after installing 3% of the ROM
installing WM AKU3.2 with 32MB or 16MB RAM goes fine
but after HR the device and setting YES to formating storage and registry clean the white screen is just there for hours
does anyone have any idea how to go on from this point!!
my assumption is that I formatted the memory to smaller capacity then it should and therefore the new system don't have enough room to start
is there any RAM formatting SW?

In a situation like this is your best option is to go back to an original 2003 install and then retry you wm5 install based on the info found in wiki.
If you resized you ext rom for wm5 then a 2003 install will fail due to the fact that the upgrade will try to install a 16mb ext rom in a location that you dont have (as you resized it).
If I was you I would
1) run the upgrade but del the ms_.nbf (the ext rom file)
This should get you device up again
2) run the resize tool to create a 16mb rom
(check wiki cant remember the number)
then run the 2003 upgrade
This will get you back were you started
Verify that all works
Then go down the wm5 track based on wiki.
Hope it helps

I have a couple of questions that I would like clarified before attempting my upgrade.
1/ Do I extract the relevant folder from the operator folder and place it in the extrom folder or just leave them all where they are?
2/ The PH20B folder - where do I put this?
3/ Can somebody please clarify this part of the WIKI
Quote:
#
Modify the operator in the ROM as needed:
* Determine your operator Information e.g.: "T-MOB101", or "Vodafone", or O2. See GetDeviceData.
*
Open a command prompt, go to the folder where the ROM file resides (nk.nbf) and execute: SetOperator ??? (how do I do this?)
(where ??? is your operator)
# Copy the nk.nbf file to folder that match ur device (PH20B/PH20B1)
My biggest problem here is that I want to be sure that I understand fully what I am doing in case things get messed up - then hopefully I can recover it.
The answers are probably obvious to somebody that has done this before - but I just dont fully understand the wording.
Here is my device data:
PH20B 0 B WWE E O2___001 1.40.00 0 0 1.40.242 1.12.00 12.00
Hopefully this message is clear enough for someone to understand my questions

Thanks

PH20B 0 B WWE E O2___001 1.40.00 0 0 1.40.242 1.12.00 12.00
okie first your device oeprator is O2___001
1/ Do I extract the relevant folder from the operator folder and place it in the extrom folder or just leave them all where they are?
leave where they are
Open a command prompt, go to the folder where the ROM file resides (nk.nbf) and execute: SetOperator ??? (how do I do this?)
first some of the rom developer already provided that tool, so u you have to do is open up command up, browse to the folder where SetOperator.Bat is, and type
SetOpeartor O2___001
where O2___001 is your device operator. make sure the rom file is in there too (nb.kf).
after your have done, put your device in bootloader mode, then FLASH It.
good luck

It seems you have never work with command shell before:)
Since this is "developers" page you should make some research - like
hmm "xda3nbftool" wasnt recognized - what is the "xda3nbftool"?
After putting it in google you will realize that this is file - so is this file in any folder i had already downloaded?
Yes it is, but what's the point? When you ran it - nothing happened :(
hmm Lets try to copy this file to the same folder so SetOperator.bat will be together with xda3nbftool.exe in the (PH20B) folder.
Waau its working! -> but
1. You can find it by your own
2. You can use google
3. And the most important you can read through wiki and use search before posting a question its amazing to find these things by yourself! Trust me:)

kerio - thanks for your help - I had wrongly assumed an awful lot.
Please believe me I have spent many hours reading and re-reading the WIKI and forum searching - just wrong search criteria i suppose. And you are right about the command line experience - I've had none with windows although I am a Linux user so maybe I dont have an excuse.
EDIT
It all works perfectly - I have WM5 - thanks again

Hi friends, I'm new to upgrading of roms and I recently gotten myself a second hand xda 2s. I would like to ask some questions which is not addressed in the wiki of xda 2s upgrading in xda-dev. Experts please help!
1. Can I keep my xda 2s 2003se rom in the ext rom? so if any problem i can always just hard reset my pda to go back to the default rom.
2. Is it really true that if something wrong happens, the pda becomes... paper weight? anyway to recover it?
do help! i'm considering to upgrade to wm5.
thanks friends!

1. No.
2. No. Its hard to brick the BA, short of dunking it in the toilet. As long as you follow the wiki to the letter, everything should be smooth.

You should read the wiki one's more. Since the question "can I keep the w2003 in extrom is ULTRA-IRRELEVANT"
(First page in wiki - FAQ, or getting started/BA for beginners in BA section)

Sure, will do. The wiki has tons of stuff and frankly it's not really understandable to a newbie who has never flashed before. Anyway, thanks for all your patience!

Got a couple of questions. I just put in the latest code. Since then, the display keeps coming on every 30secs or so. Is it the bug in Bluetooth that the original BlueAngel came with? If so, is there a way to turn it off?
Also, the ClearStorage functionality is now removed (the icon from the earlier version still appears in my Settings/System). What is the way to remove the icon (using Resco Explorer?) and is there a way to achieve the same functionality? I need to wipe all data and apps since I am selling mine.
Any help appreciated.

Extremely Confused here after reading the wiki. Running windows 2003 on XDA iis.
If i intend to install xplode's rom instead of Baniaczek, i just need to confirm the steps.
1) Follow the instructions from steps 1 - 12 in Helmi's Rom to expand the memory. Or do we not need to follow all the 12 steps since we intend to install xplode's rom instead.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Helmi
2) we then proceed to install Xplode's Rom using the few steps provided and it will be done and i will be running WM5?
Upgrade procedure:
1.Extract the rar somwhere in your computer
2.Open the folder in which the files were extracted
3.Copy EXTROM folder to your SD card (you may want to edit it but ... i wont include this into the instructions)
4.Put your device in Bootloader mode and place it to cradle
5.Start MAupgradeUT_NOID.exe and follow the onscreen procedure
6.Perform WM5 Hard Reset
Also, what are the main differences between the two ROMs? (Ban and Xplode) i cant find any good comparisons.

The problem is, i have drooping transfer rate when i try to send via bluetooth to another device. exp. before i have 25-30kb/s but now i have 11 kb/s (transfer to SE K 800i)
i believe i have BT stack 3900.
i'm using Helmi - Baniaczek WM05 .CF2 R2
before upgrade i use o2 Asia ba_o2asia_14000_923_11200_ship.exe

Hi, I have followed the step 'Getting Started With The Blue Angel' to get the DeviceData.txt. After copying the .txt to my computer and opened by Notepad. It is some unreadable words and try to edit out the double blanks and unprintable characters. However, I am unable to follow the instruction of 'Holding down the Ctrl & Shift Press the ->, (This highlights to the right of next word) Still Holding down the Ctrl & Shift Press the <- (This highlights to the left of next word) now hit Del to delete the highlight'.
Furthermore, There is no 'Device Information' icon on my device but only 'About' icon. It reads as OS 5.1.1700 (Build 14343.0.0.0).
Can some able to edit the DeviceData.txt for me and send the edited file to just4me_tony@hotmail.com so I know the information of my device. Thanks!
P.S. My device is an unknown brand PDA in Traditional Chinese of Windows Mobile 5 operating system.

@Tonyfung820, I think the problem is in your WM5 ROM, that's why you don't have device information and have a screw up devicedata.txt.
But it could be that the seller removed the device information icon to another tab, try to look around in your PDA.
If you still can't find it, try to soft reset, when your PDA booting up, you can see information on your device on the right lower corner when on four stripes screen.

I suggest you try Bacniazek Helmi AKU 3.5 CF2 R2 or Xplode R5 Kitchen. I haven't tried Xplode R5 but I've tried R4.1 n it's good.
Bacniazek CF2 R2 also good n I'm using it right now, it's fast but sometimes a little bit slow specially when BA just wake up. I don't know if the problem is on my BA or the ROM.
The rest of the ROM is old version n you shouldn't use it unless you have special reason. Anyway the choice is yours.
I hope it enough to help you, I'm just newbie too :D

Hi Guys, Been reading the information on how to upgrade my Sys & radio Rom but with no luck. I was able to upgrade the extended Rom but I'm stuck with the other 2. This is the info I get on my SX66:
PH20B1 B 1 WWE E XGULA001 1.33.10 1 0 1.42.126 1.02.10 02.10
This is what I'm doing:
-Downloaded the Rom tools as well as the The Sys & radio Roms & unpacked them to a BA folder.
-Downloaded maupgrade file & put it in the same folder.
-Connected my USB cable to the SX66.
-did a soft reset & ran maupgrade......
The thing is that the program doesn't see the 2 rom files, I hit "next" & just stays checking info on the device for 20 secs or so & that it; it says that it's upgraded but it's the same Rom version.....
Can someone please help??. What am i doing wrong??.
thanks.

Hey Blues01, thanks for taking the time to answer. I was able to upgrade my BA from 1.33 to 1.42 & the radio from 1.02 to 1.15. The ROM I was trying to load was not recognized by Maupgrade; found another ROM 1.42 & that did the trick.

First upgrade your radio to 1.15 follow the wiki instuctions for that.
Next you need to decided if you want to stay with 2003 or move on to WM6.
If your choice is WM2003 then I am sure you ca find a dutch version however they are no longer on our ftp site.
If you can live with English you could go to WM6 by following the wiki upgrade links.
As for a dutch lang pack I would have to pass as this has never intrested me. Try search on "WM6 Dutch".
Hope that helps

Hi there !
2 days ago I've upgrated my 'blueangel' (qtek 9090) from windows mobile 2003 (in french) to windows mobile 6 (in english WWE) . Everything is working great , exept for one little thing. The keyboard of my phone (hardware) is in 'azerty' but the keyboard build-in from wm6 is in 'qwerty'. So when I use the keyboard of my phone , the characters do not respond to those I've pressed . for example the 'a' is getting 'q' , the 'z' is getting 'w' , ect.
Is there any way I can change the keyboard settings in Wm6 to 'azerty' ?

my problem involving changing keyboard from querty into azerty .
I had problems to edit the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\QWERTY

The editor seems not to work with WM6 !
only with older versions of windows mobile.
I searched the net and found CeRegistryEditor, installed it, sync'd my device with my pc and changed the registry key into the code for 'french keyboard',
rebooted my device and BINGOOOOOOO!!!!!

hey sorry to bother again. My xda which is a ph20b2, has gone all funny. I tried to upgrade it and it seem to be goin fine until alert flashed on my screen. it said i should check i had the power supply in and so on. and so i checked and tried again, but when i pressed the button to restart the process the computer did not even know the xda was connected. so i picked up the xda to have a gud look at it. The only writing it had was serial at the top and 2.07 at the bottom.
When i connected it wid the usb the serial will change to usb. I have tried the advice in the previous post which does not work.
i seak some urgent help and p.s vista is not all dat bad, and i do swich between

The way I see it is that you are having problems with the Sim Unlock on your device.
Here are a few facts that I know are true.
- The software works and has worked for many users before you.
- I am not aware of ever reading such a problem with a BA since I have been on this site.
- your phone has radio 12.00 and 2003 1.40 rom which makes it not even up to date on for a 2003 device.
Now we know for a fact that the BA has been on the market for a long time.
There are 2 possibilaties that I feel could be true.
1) Its yours, you have had it for years and its only now that you have found the site and been confronted with the Lock issue
2) You brought this phone locked of some guy that once before had that problem and as he clould not solve so he sold it to you.
So it is hard to know if you have a problem with the software or if the software has a problem with your phone.
Try to upgrade the radio and report back.

There is no information in the below that allows anybody to give you a quilfied answer or help you out.
Try to reword the whole thing in a form that helps us help you.
I have a ph20b2
I connected my device to my vista machine and I have never had problems sysncing with outlook so I feel this can not be an issue based on my Vista instalation.
I followed the instructions that I found on www.xda.wiki.were_ever.
I used the files found here.
On step 5 I get the following error message ....
Might help you help yourself.

Thank you a lot MDAIIIUser for answering, I really apreciate that.
Since I have this PocetPC, I have been using it with a SIM so I had no needs to try to unlock it, but right now I need to unlock it for using a SIM that my company gave me.
I am going to try to unlock the radio and post back. Again, thanks a lot for answering.
Thanks.

Hello.
I already upload the radio (This is the DeviceData.txt):
PH20B 0 B ESN N TELCE301 1.40.03 0 3 1.40.178 1.15.00 15.00
I run the ISO-8859-1''xdadev_all_unlock-v1.6_138.exe and it says it unlocks it, the log is this:
xdadev_all_unlock started

And I soft reset it after it says that. Then I turn on the pocket and it says out of service.
Thanks for any ideas you could give me.
Thanks.

You sure your sim is still active? As in can you confirm that you can make a call with that sim on any other device.
