Rom has password issue
Ok, I read that thread and didn't find any useful information. The conclusions it leads to are
-no one has successfully installed this rom
-the new rom does things which we don't know about
What do you mean when you say that "the Rom has [a] password issue"?

I've read that the ROM upgrade might SIM lock your SX66 - can anyone verify?

I hope you didn't hear that on the HOFO thread, because that was me speculating, and I have no evidence for it - just a hunch.
However, I would also like someone to verify.

If you own a sx66 then this upgrade is for you and should be a better one than your last.
Others out here see the 1.35, get excited and hope to install this upgrade on a non siemnes devices. When they try this they come upon the "Password issue" which in short says that you cant use that upgrade with the tools that are found on this site.
Check wiki for a better understanding.

You'll first need to unlock your Extended ROM.
Download this file and run it on your SX66:
http://www.beyondthetech.com/downloads/phone/modding/BA_ExtROMTools.cab
Then go Start > Programs > ExtROM Tools > Unhide.
Reboot your SX66, then you'll see a folder called Extended_ROM. Copy that out to your desktop, then up to the FTP site at
ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com
Just in case you didn't know, this folder contains the first programs and settings that it runs upon a hard reset.
Please let me know when you're able to do this. Perhaps somewhere in there is the key to resolve my annoying "05"-text-message-for-voicemail notifications issue.
Thanks!

Updating one of our SX66's as I type this.
We'll soon see what happens...
I did notice that the radio stack isn't as updated as some of the other stacks out there. I'll test it for a while, and if necessary, 'upgrade' back to the higher version.

I've downloaded this update. It has the same bluetooth version as 1.31WWE, no WMP10, but several DLLs like btagsvc.dll are newer. Radio is 1.02, which is obsolete.
Format of NBF files is changed, I've explained it in "hacking" section.
Extended ROM contains old apps, the only useful thing is WLANPatch.CAB. I don't know what RestartRadio.exe and AddContacts.exe programs do, maybe they also worth installing.
I've uploaded this update converted to the old NBF format to ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/1.33.10WWE-from_SX66/
I have not tested it, so use at your own risk!

Restart Radio turns the radio on and off and addcontacts add's cingular's customer service and some other contacts, so I would definately say they are not needed.

No SIM lock, using my AWE SIM;

NOTICEABLE better performance with BT headsets, Mot 810, 820 and Jabra 250, MUCH better, clear sound, cracking and static is GONE;
Worth the update? Hell ya.

I just completed the upgrade of my Siemens SX66.
After the upgrade, my keyboard no longer works???!!!?? No lights in the buttons when I slide it out, no icon in the settings section to control the keyboard light timeout etc. It is as if the device totally has forgotten that a keyboard is present.....????
Have anyone seen this? I am abosultely floored.... The keyboard was one of the main reasons I got the SX66 in the first place.
Oh, and BTW: The sound quality of my Jabra 250 headset still sucks....
I'm getting real tired of this thing.....

The sx66 is a PH20B1 Versions With No Camera, this would eplain the lack of the camera and icon in 1.33. ( I base that info of wiki )
The harrier is a PH20A2 Version with no wifi, the would explain the lack of those files in 1.35.
So we can say that the major versions 1.22, 1.31, 1.35 are built around the model of the device.
For the camera there is a patch.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Patches_122
There is a new patch in the harrier 1.35 which I hava looked at but not cooked in the kitchen (2.21 build 17576).
Both patches are a camera.exe replacement only. I have not looked at weather there are any reg entries around for it So the best thing I would sugest is load the patch, create a short cut and assign it in the buttons.
@ mamaich
Again you have done some great work, thanks.
Given that you have such a deep understanding of the new structure and encription (and no I wont ask) do you think that you could create a Wiki page with the new header fromat such as.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ROMFileFormat

This would help all those that want to take time to look at it closely.
Can you also confirm the keyboard issue ?

So far, seems to be more stable. Let's see how long I can go without a soft-reset.

mamaich's upgrade only upgrades the CE ROM, not the Radio or Extended ROM. If you want to throw in the 1.06.02 Radio ROM from the FTP, then just place it in the folder before running the upgrade.
The upgrade utility will attempt to upgrade whatever NBF files are present in the same directory. So, if you just want to do the Radio this time, remove the NK.NBF file and insert the RADIO_.NBF file in the folder and re-run the upgrade utility.
The Extended ROM is only the customizations and patches that the carrier and/or manufacturer place on top of the CE ROM after a hard reset. Note that while you may be upgrading the CE ROM to a later version, the old CAB files in the Extended ROM could be trying to patch down some fixes, such as the Bluetooth or Wireless LAN, or whatever. Best thing to do is unlock and check it out manually, but if you don't see any functionality issues, you'll be OK.

I know this is kinda off topic from where this thread is now. But back where we were loading the new ROM on SX66’s, I noticed a few folks commented that it was sable after short term use. The assumption would be that since they aren’t griping and you guys are cooking that this is a stable and improved ROM.
That being said, there’s been a lot of talk about bluetooth improvements, are their other changes/improvements that you noticed? A nice list for future record maybe helpful for myself and others. Or is only improvement Bluetooth?
I’m not a heavy Bluetooth user and want to make sure I'm moving forward, before I reload apps and numerous database syncs. It's amazing how heavily my business has come to rely on this little box.

That being said, there’s been a lot of talk about bluetooth improvements, are their other changes/improvements that you noticed?Things I've noticed.
1. a newer build of OS: WM2003SE 4.21.1088 build 15005.1.2.1
it includes some hotfixes from MS, the one fix I've noticed is that red led stops flashing after you dismiss an appointment. In prev. ROM you had to go to control panel/sounds to turn it off.
2. a bit newer audio gateway driver than in 1.31 which may fix some BT issues. Several other drivers are updated, for example rilgsm. I have not noticed difference in BT sound, I use updated BT from alpine ROM.
3. It seems that sim toolkit application is fixed. Earlier some messages were unreadable.
4. Ringtone sound volume seems to be lower than in previous ROM?
Differences between 1.31 and 1.33 ROM are minimal. You should not upgrade if you are satisfied with the ROM you have.
P.S. I don't recommend installing audiogw and bluetooth updates I've posted earlier in this topic. Some of them causes problems with transferring call from BT headset to the phone. Probably it is audiogw, but I have not checked.

Yes,the differance between 1.31 and 1.33 is minimal, but the diff between the 1.20 that you're using and the 1.33 is noticeable. I did try both the Siemens and 1.06.02 radios, and the 1.06.02 dangaard radio from the 1.22.167 WWE Rom, and the 1.06.02 works much better than the Siemens radio which is the 1.02 radio w/updates.
It was well worth the work to upgrade.

hi im also using xda iis and HBH-660 along with the updated bluetooth patch ver 3900 and it is working perfectly fine even the voice quality is much better then the 3500 build of bluetooth. I am able to see all the caller id's after upgrading my bluetooth build to 3900 and it has really got goood voice quality over the previous build.[/quote]
Are you getting both caller name and number or just number displayed?

P.S. I don't recommend installing audiogw and bluetooth updates I've posted earlier in this topic. Some of them causes problems with transferring call from BT headset to the phone. Probably it is audiogw, but I have not checked.
Ok, I take it back. I installed 3900 again without the audio gateway fix as advised by mamaich, and while I didn't see any significant improvement in static or general quality on my HBH-660 compared to 3500, everything works fine including caller ID (just the phone number).
The static issue is not too bad. I actually have a fair range in direct line of sight, but going through by body (i.e. right pocket to left ear) induces static, which is livable but not great.
Now I just need to figure out a way out of my GPRS aggressive disconnection issues.

I've upgraded my Austrian Tmobile MDAIII to the latest Siemens Rom, cooked my Extended Rom. I was pretty happy with it until I came across a weird bug: my spb pocket plus caused my mdaIII to hang up. I uninstalled it and then I tried the Handyswitcher from dinar software for really closing the programs. Apparently any real program closer ( instead of just minimizing programs ) makes the device so slow that it hangs up after a while. All you can do is a soft reset. I reinstalled pocket plus and disabled the close function. Everything works fine. Ay ideas?

Has anyone tried this on a PDA2K yet?I've updated my device. Have not tested the BT headset yet.
How did you get past the "ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR"
I have an Imate, PDA2K, latest ROM version from them, and am a Cingular/AT&T customer. I'd like to get some issues I have fixed; reading this thread indicates some of my issues might be fixed.
Is there a tool to get past the COUNTRY ID ERROR?
Thanks.

On the first page of this topic Mamaich wrote that he posted this ROM in the old encryption to the FTP , is there somebody who has a backup of this ROM and willing to reupload it because it is deleted from the FTP ?
