Infrared control over TVs etc. ?

I seem to remeber someone mentioning before that the IR port on the XDA II is to weak for this, but does anyone know if it's possible to control the TV/CD Player etc. with it?

The best sw for xda2 is noviiremote 2.1 (download trial version from novii.com).
Operative range is within 2 meters for almost all tv to remote;something more for sony cd player in my experience.
Noviiremote has a wonderful learning section to load your own original remote (if not already included in the list); otherwise you can try to find it (ie if your original remote is broken) in its forum.
Remember to check the box for receiving all incoming beams in setting/connection before launch the sw.
