I have an XDA 2 and its not mine I'm borring it, the battery got low and I didn't want to waste it so I took it out for 15 minutes, then I popped it back in to use it later and it reset EVERYTHING. And now it says charge it up or it will lose it all. Is there anyway to recover what was gone? I don't have a charger near me, should I just rip out the battery - and it wont die? I CANT lose all the data on it

I'm afraid you've already lost everything. By taking the battery out you're forcing the XDA to keep the contents of it's memory purely by using the battery backup, but that only last approx 10 to 25 minutes depending on the charge level before being unplugged.
These aren't the same as conventional cell phones. The memory is stored in battery powered RAM. You should only take the battery off to change the SIM card or change it for another battery.
Even if the phone is flat and won't turn on, the battery contains enough power to hold the memory for a day or two until you can get to a charger.
Sorry - You'll have to restore from backups (if any were already taken)

I've got an XDA IIs instead of a II, but my unit doesn't actually turn on when I put the battery back on, I have to actually push the power button for that. After that it's impossible to turn it completely off without removing/replacing the battery. I would expect the XDA II to be the same with that off/on functionality.
But you should be able to leave it on standby for ages (push the power button when it's turned on, screen goes blank and flashes occasionally to tell you about network signal).
But you've already wiped everything by sounds of it so it really isn't going to make any difference whether you put the battery on it or not. It's not going to come back. This part is definetly the same regardless of XDA IIs/II or whatever. Sorry.
