Wouldn't it be nice . . . . .

I often ponder the size of devices and dream of the day I can fold up and carry my desktop-sized/powered/functioned device in my pocket.

So I was watching the development of the Handtops (www.handtops.com) with interest but went flat on those as the OQO gets too hot, the Antelope isn't visible in daylight, the Flipstart seems it will never be released, etc.

So back to the old PDA, enter the XDA mini - a nice device with a tiny screen too small to read lengthy PDA email attachments, etc when travelling. Wouldn't it be nice if when you travelled you could carry a Wireless TFT monitor in your bag that folded out to say 17"??????

And then I found these . . . http://www.aeicomp.com/search_result.asp?MANUFACTURER=Computer%20LCD%20Mo nitors&CATEGORY=LCD%20Monitors.

Now I could buy the 7 or 8" screens and with my IGo, Nyditot resolution software and Bluetooth Stowaway keyboard - presto I have a laptop. But with all this, my IBM X40 is smaller and has more functionality. And the IGo and Screen both need power.

So to conclude, if anyone finds one of these screens with battery power, a wireless connection and drivers for the Pocket PC, P L E A S E let me know. OR if you are a connected person in the business sense and know an OEM you can influence, then put in a good word for me and get em producing.

PS the site even has the LCD modules all you need is a wireless chipset and some software ingenuity, a case, a battery, soldering iron, etc. . .

With regards

Jeff

"I'm Sorry, your search for Category = LCD Monitors. and sub-category = Computer LCD Monitors and Description = (none specified) and Part Number = (none specified) produced no matches."

You say the mini XDA has "a tiny screen too small to read lengthy PDA email attachments, etc when travelling", I heartily disagree...

I was hoping someone might have better luck than me and know where I could get one.

You're probably not getting old and long sighted likeme Blefast Biker. Dont get me wrong I love to use the device and with clear type and large fonts on I get by.

However it is a slow process to read a 30 page PDF, dragging the screen all around on one of these.

Foldable screens are presently marketed at 150dpi for shopping centre displays by www.eink.com. I am told they will be out for computers and pda's within 18 months.
