I have a similar but not exactly the same case.
Mine is the same silicon case but the screen protector is much smaller, indeed the screen protector is exactly the same size as the Magician screen. Also the "hole" at the bottom for the sockets etc. of my case is much smaller than the one in your photo.
My case also has a detachable belt clip.
Just want say I'm very happy with it. It's much slimer than the leather case I used before, though I still think the leather case looks better.
Cost me HKD130 i.e. around Euro11. Very hard to find even in HK.

Can anyone confirm the sound quality with a silicone case on your device. As I can see the silicone case covers the speaker and microphone. It can be possible that calling without a a BT headset the soundquality decreases !!

I emailed boxwave about the product. Their response was a bit of a downer as i really wanted the screen cover to flip back 360, not just 180. Here is the response for those interested:
"The clear plastic cover on the i-mate JAM FlexiSkin only flips and stops after 180 degrees. When closed, the cover has a tab which slides into a slit to keep the cover from flapping around. All the buttons are easily pressable and accessible as each button has been molded over with the FlexiSkin material."
However I have found another case that i think will be better! I have purchased one and will review when it arrives!

I have one for review from Brando, and is pretty much the best case you can buy. Is great because it mantains your screen very protected because of the cover, and its great because when you place it in your face to speak, the screen doesn't get smudged. I will post a full review shortly

I have 2 cases from brando. the silicone and the leather.
the silicone is ok as it is very thin and light but it has no screen cover so my face sometimes hits the screen whilst on the phone... lot's of smudges!
the leather is so so for me. It is not that exact... the window for the screen and the buttons (front) are not perfectly aligned but it was the only case available for the Magician at the time so I got it. I use this case sparringly (i.e. on evenings out so my JAM looks more formal) the bad part is my jam got a dent because some parts of this case are not covered (fortunately it is the battery cover only). anyway it is still an ok case.
I have placed an order for boxwave's FlexiSkin, VersaCharger, miniSync and miniBuds to round out my case, sync, power, and audio needs. But I will have to wait 2 weeks before my order arrives.

i've been holding my purchase of a good case for vaja.. i think many Jam owners already e-mailed vaja to create an iVolution series for Jam.. i have vaja since my hp 5550 days(now I have a vaja for my iPod) so its vaja or just use that one that came with the box.. for now

I use the capdase bi-fold (book-type) leather case for my mini:
http://www.capdase.com/index.php?page=product&type=4&cat=10&brand=14&prd=1328
It's a nice-looking case, although it opens from left towards the right (opposite of how a western book is opened). It seemed a little odd at first, but it keeps the power button completely covered so it protects the power button from being accidentally pressed when i stick it in my pocket (and it's always in my pocket).
The only problem I have with it is that, although it fits very snugly in the case now and doesn't slide, I feel that over time it may become loose and the mini may slide out the top and fall out of the case (which I've read has happened with the Piel frama flip-top leather case). I'm contemplating adding a velcro strip somewhere just to make sure it can't fall out.
It cost me (the philippine peso equivalent of) US$29.79 here in manila.

finally got my package from boxwave and I must say I'm very pleased with everything :D Although I must admit that apart from the plastic screen cover the flexiskin looks exactly like the skin I got off brando workshop (even the packaging and the card board insert of a dopod is the same). no matter now I have 2 silicone skins so I can swap them when one gets dirty or damaged :D

Yes I have the silicone case with the screen cover. Its awsome I love it. the sound is better beccause the silicone insulates it. and the screen cover is the best. Now when its in my pockets I have no worries. I would highly recomend it to anyone. :D

Shame on them - other companies will make aprofit instead then, as the JAM is clearly a popular product,.

But I do have a problem, trying to buy this one. Does anybody know where to by (best in germany)
WITHOUT a credit card (because I have none)?
I mailed boxwave and I got an answer that they do not accept any purchase
with payment other than credit card (no bank transfer )
So anybody any ideas? :(

bny, how was the boxwave case? its a good $8 or $10 difference from the brando case, so I wanna ask if the flip screen shield is worth the difference? Not to mention the long wait.

I would like to share info but the problem is I lost the flip a few days after I got the case . Went clubbing at night and had a bit too much fun. My impression was it was great, my face wasn't hitting the screen anymore (less wiping) and I could still see what was up with my pocket pc. All in all it is the best solution I've seen the CAPDASE Silicone case (available at 2F Games and Gadgets, Greenhills TheaterMall for Php 1,500) is a bit thick for my tastes, I also has a flip cover. I might order another FlexiSkin from BoxWave... still undecided. I've also been eyeing the Aluminum Cases but they don't look to good IMO. Right now I swap my FlexiSkin case and my Brando Leather case depending on the occassion.
If you don't mind me asking what case are you using now?

hey boxwave has a new case for the magician an active case! it looks like complete protection I wonder if my SD WiFi card could be used with it closed though. and it seems like it will add a lot of bulk to your device.

Thanks for the tip. I inquired about the active case and suggested that they come up with a bundle pack for it. They said they'll consider it so i'm holding out my purchase for that. Apparently, its made of polycarbonate and that its supposed to be shatter proof. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have both the Boxwave skin with the flip lid as well as the Capdase skin. To me there is no comparison, the Boxwave is a piece of junk compared to the Capdase. I ripped the Boxwave skin the first day I had it, just trying to put it on. It is far too thin. The plastic cover scrathed all to hell just trying to remove a fingerprint using a soft cloth that comes with screen protectors. It just isn't worth the money. If you would like a better view of the Capdase skin I posted a few pictures on The Howard Forums that may help you decide.

has anyone been using an aluminum case with his Magician? Which one and How is it? Does the signal strength suffer if you use one? I think this is the only type of case that I don't have and well we can't have that can we?

Just a couple of notes from me.
I ordered both the boxwave and the capdase skin + cover. I've received the capdase and I don't like the design/cover for every day use. I assume the boxwave will be no better.
I have 2 cases from krussel:
http://www.krusell.se/product.php?s=2&product=1875
and
http://www.krusell.se/product.php?s=2&product=1925
I'm not impressed by the quality of the first one, but my only previous leather case was a vaja so it's not a fair comparison (it cost a lot more). The second case is what I am using so far as my everyday case. It's not bad, since it's easy to take in and out of the case, and it provides adequate screen protection.
The search for the ultimate case continues though. I've emailed vaja and I got a reply a few days ago. Nothing has changed, still no plans to make a case for the jam. I don't get understand why. Maybe their 'designer' quit or something.
I'm thinking of trying this one next: http://www.boxwave.com/products/activecase/active-case-i-mate-jam_411.htm
Keep the suggestions coming boys.

@jamijam:
What didn't u like about the Handit Multidapt ? I'm looking into ordereing a case online ( i was seriously considering the handit multidapt ). Unfortunately i have to rely on online shops alone so i can't really take a good look at the thing. Is it an impracticality thing, did it rip ?
jamijam
2nd June 2005, 10:48 PM
Well, here's how it goes.
I ordered a bunch of cases at once. I knew before I received it that, functionally, the handit multidapt would be the worst of the bunch. It's a full case which means it would be a pain to use as a phone and it adds a lot of bulk. I thought maybe the overall quality/look/protection might make up for this fact.
This was not the case. The quality of the leather/design was nothing special. I'm not saying it's crap, because the only other leather case I've had is a vaja, and that's the best quality you can buy. So it's not a fair comparison. For the price, I guess it's an okay case.
The other case (http://www.krusell.se/product.php?s=2&product=1925) is similar quality, but at least it is functionally superior. Easy to slip in/out and when it's in there it provides some protection and you can still use it as a phone.
Ok, I'm rambling on and repeating myself so I'll stop now.

I disagree, the first Krussell leather case as above (multidapt) is by far (for me) the best case i've had for the Mini / MDA Compact. It's very functional easy access to the PDA and once "worn in" after about 2 weeks, the flip does not obstruct the phones usage i.e. when held up to your ear.
Oh yes, it's not that bulky either, especially as I tend to have it un-clipped when in office or at home.

my boxwave flexiskin has been torn!!! I guess frequent removing and washing (because of the lint!) is the culprit. anyway I was in HK last week and I got me 2 more silicone skins (they are quite cheap there! and have alot of colors too!) anyway I got one in black very very similar to a flexiskin except that it boasts a new mat'l which is supposed to attract less lint (seems to work as advertised) also got one similar to the CAPDASE one in white (which is more bulky and thick so it is now my standby silicone case) both cases have flip covers (hopefully I don't loose them again!) I have a mini photo review of the OAD Silicone case http://bnycastro.multiply.com/photos/album/26 (it's my multiply site)
