xda2 rom upgrade

hi,

i tried to upgrademy xda2ver 172187 as per Xda_II_Upgrade.pdf, during installation got to a section where I got a message saying that the current rom is being erased a task bar was displayed which increase's in percentage as the job goes through. i got a error message that upgrade could not be performed and asked to disconnect the sync and perform reset on xda 2 and try again. On the xda2 bar showed 19% upgrade completed. after doing the reset the xda 2 does not boot .
i redocked the xda 2 and ran the upgrade.exe program again but it shows connection error as it does not get connected via active sync.

please help me out of this

i have tried this and it worked for me . i entered my xda into bootloader mode and then the laptop detected the xda and it did the upgrade for me
