XDA Sound

I have an xda that will not work unless i use headphones. I have searched the forums and i see that most problems point to the headphone socket being locked into 'on' position. I have opened up the xda and have actually soldered a new headphone socket (from an xda with broken screen) onto the board but still have no sound. I also tried swapping the speaker from the other phone.

Any ideas what else to check? All connections seem fine etc
