Hi everybody,
during some three months I've encountered several minor problems / bugs. They don't keep me from using my XDA2 but they are annoying... And I am sure many other people encounter the same problems. Perhaps we can collect these bugs and send them to O2 / MS so they can fix it?
OK, here's my list:
- very often the XDA2 takes several seconds to respond (for example when pressing the "off" button),
- if I want to access the bluetooth screen (bluetooth on/off) very often the XDA2 displays "settings" in the titlebar, but the dialogue doesn't come up. Killing all running applications from the "running programs" screen sometimes helps.
- SMS get lost after being sent.
- ActiveSync doesn't sync my SMS's.
- when I have a "screen lock" set (enter code after some minutes inactivity) and receive an SMS the XDA2 chrashes and needs two (2!) soft resets to come up again fully.
- The today screen doesn't respond to changes in the calendar (new appointments) for several minutes.
- After an alarm (appointment) has been closed, the red light keeps on blinking for several hours.
- when connecting a wired headset the connection (even rings) get lost!!!
- When trying to connect an other device via infrared and using the "modem" functionality, a few bytes of data get transfered, but then the connection is lost.
- The battery status display when clicking on the time field in the titlebar is not very useful (full / almost empty) - a little more information (five to ten bars) would be great.
- Once I lost audio for telephone (speaker was silent / mic also). I had to reset my XDA2 - what use is a phone without audio?
- When clicking the antenna icon (to connect to GPRS) there is no response rather often and I have to do a soft reset to be able to connect.
- using the notes application (Pocket Word also) sometimes the font changes (gets smaller) without any apparent reason.
- the camera is not usable with dim light.
- by default all data is kept in RAM - and lost easily. Important data like address book, calendar, settings etc. should be kept in ROM by default.
- using Pocket Word is rather difficult - I would rather have some paragraph styles like "heading", "text", "quote" and so on instead of being able to change fonts
- the file format for the notes as well as Pocket Word is very strange (I didn't look at Pocket Excel). A pure text format with embedded objects (graphics, formatting) in XML or whatever style would be good (or an open documentation of that file format).
- The xda should be able to produce a composite video format on one of the pins in the connector when required (presentations).
- sometimes ActiveSync becomes crazy and pops up every few minutes saying it can't sync. Only a reset can cure this behaviour.
While some of the points mentioned require a change in the hardware, I'd think most of these points are software faults. If you know a remedy please tell me.
Ciao,
Berny
PS: Feel free to append this list ;-)
