Hi,

Has anyone noticed that when using called id 1.20, it works fine after a reset but after a while it stops showing the picture from the person who is calling you?

I've tryed to pinpoint the cause but can't find it...

My caller id 1.20 has been installed in a new installation (cooked extrom) so i don't think it's some incompatibility issue with an older version (since it never was installed)

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

Does this happens only to me?

I used this file Caller_ID_WWE_RC13.CAB and put it on the ext rom (i removed 1.17)

I noticed that if i installed both there were two pictures showing...

I gave up with IA's version and went with PocketX Photo Contacts (http://www.pocketx.net). You can't beat the full screen Caller ID with big on-screen buttons.

FYI, I was informed by PocketX that the demo version on their website is based off of version 1.0d, which didn't work properly on the PDA2k (you would hit the on-screen Answer button but it wouldn't pick up the phone). It was fixed in 1.0e, and the latest version is 1.0h, which works beautifully on my PDA2k. I've even gone as far as removing IA Caller ID from my Extended ROM entirely.

I resolved the problem, it was something to do with the release i installed IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB and worked fine, i think this is an older release RC10 maybe, the files in the cab are older

That's not an issue...

Just from the FAQ:

I have loaded the demo version of Photo Contacts on my Pocket PC phone. However, the pictures that I assigned to the contacts do not come up. Any suggestions?

Answer The DEMO version of Photo Contacts is is limited to displaying only the first 8 contact photos. All other contacts with photos will display a demo image. Therefore, you should assign a photo to one of the first 8 contacts in the list, depending on the sort-order of the contacts in Photo Contacts.

Do a small test:

1. Create a contact on your Pocket PC with the first name "A" and last name "A". Give it your home telephone number in the Home Telephone Number field.
2. Crop a contact photo using a simple image editor (Irfanview works really well) and name the image "A A.jpg"
3. Connect your Pocket PC to your computer and establish an Activesync Connection
4. Click on "Explore" in Activesync and browse to "\My Documents\Photo Contacts" on the Pocket PC.
5. Copy the "A A.jpg" image from the PC onto the Pocket PC.

Now open Photo Contacts and you should see A A as the first contact in the list with the photo. Call your Pocket PC Phone from your home phone and you will see the photo when the phone rings (Photo Caller ID).

IMPORTANT !!!!

IA Caller ID 1.2 is NOT un upgrade of the 1.17 that is shipped with qtek9090 !
It is an other version !

If you want to use it you MUST unsinstall the previous version (to do so, do not put it in your Extended rom and perform a HARD-Reset!)
THEN and ONLY AFTER THIS you can install ANY version 1.2X !
both versions are conflicting when incoming calls !

It is caused by the name of the DLL or programs that had been changed.

You can also patch with an HEX editor "camera.exe" AND "album.exe" to keep full compatilbity with previous specs in 1.17
(replace " 'IA_P_'contact.exe" with " 'photo'contact.exe" :
only change "I A P _ " to "P h o t o " (same number of chars!) wherever it is found in the HEX...

With this you will be able to add "photo contact" profile in registry for camera prog.
AND
Patching Album.exe the same way will add "Assign Photo to contact" from the prog...

Enjoy

OUPS I forgot to help for the first question :
Remember to remove your call history and do not let the contact application look at your SIM card otherwise callerID will mess up !!

A good advice is NOT to sync SIM with contact, keep contact in SIM for emergency (in case your qtek is out of order and you have to use another phone...)
