Hi all,
i am in trouble after trying to install wm2005 beta on my hx4700.
The unsuccessfult flashing made the ipaq to show only one screen.
No software or hardware resets helped me.

SERIAL
"HP INVENT" LOGO
v1.01
When i put it on usb cradle....the SERIAL changed to "USB"...
After reading almost all postings on the web i downloaded mtty
and connected to the ipaq bootstrap loader.
this is part of the log:

I'm sorry this has happened to you. The same thing happened to me when I tried to upgrade. HP told me that it would have to be sent in for a reflashing. I had a warranty so I could've done this for free... but waiting a week for a fix wasn't going to cut it for me. I finally fixed it after scouring the web for answers. Here's how I did it.

The first step is to get a copy of the rom image onto an SD card. Using a hex editor (I recommend the Cygnus Free Hex Editor) you need to delete the first 2600 bytes of hx4700_20039_wwe.nbf that is included with the update. The file should be located in C:\iPAQ\WWE_WM5.0_Upg. Then I used the trial version of All Image (http://www.towodo.com/products/allimage) to write the rom image to an sd card. The card should be 256MB or larger.

The next thing you need to do is to upload the rom image to the pda. Remove the battery from the pda and put the SD card into the slot. Put the battery back on and connect it to power but not USB. On the pda hold the power button, contacts button, and iTask button and shortly tap the reset button. It may or may not say "Press power to flash". A progress bar should appear and the percentage should slowly increase. When it's done it should say the checksum was ok or it was a failure. It doesn't matter which comes up it just means it's done. Then perform a hard reset and you're device should be ready to go with WM5!

Hope that helps you and anyone else who needs it.
