Can anyone registered user of the xcpuscalar share version 2.85d?
i talk with the creators of this application and he told me: we know the problem with the qtek s100 ( freeze when you open the app) and we have make newer version ONLY FOR REGISTERED USERS and will realease in few days for all and for trial (new version named 2.85d)

I need this too. The current trial version locks my ppc up.

2.85d works great. This way the Jam can be sped up up to 728 MHz. Doesn't feel blazing fast though. Whereas the lowest option (104 MHz) feels a lil' to slow. But the auto-adapt option is kewl.

yes i know all that!!! but who can share with us this version??? i dont care if its trial!! just i want the 2.85d to test it on my jam

Can someone else do a verification to see if this version really could overclock the magician?

I try both 520 and 624 setting. While Xcpuscaler show a "correct" value but Beta Player always report it's only 416mzh and the benchmark value proves no improvement w/ Xcpuscaler

But underclock of Xcpuscaler does work :(

To be honest, I also only 'feel' the slow down of underclocking. When overclocking there is no perfomance boost noticeable... Maybe that's how the developer stopped it from crashing...

Maybe that's why this version never get public release.....

It's a shame, if this d-build turns out to be a fake, directly from the developer.

It's also a shame that we have someone in here watching us and deleting all files on hot topics. Both this and the ROM upgrades are being deleted right away. Isn't it possible for the owner of this board to find the IP of the deleter and ban him?

Why border with a faked o/c program? Just use PHM if U really want to o/c

PHM is great but it's taking too much memory than XCPUScalar. XCPUScalar seems to be more stable and "light" on Magician. So, PLEASE does any body have the patch for the version 2.85 (or even better the version 2.86...) I know it was on the FTP a while ago, but it got deleted.

Thanks.

@xp: Well, I reckon he named the magician at least 5 times. Bad thing is: V2.86 only offers 416 (normal), 520 and 624 MHz. But my Magician can only be overclocked up to 496 MHz (available with PHM).

If you have this version 2.86 you'll be welcome... I looking for anything working... I bought this for a previous PPC and I'm not planning to buy it again just for this bug. I emailed they but they are keeping on asking me for a purchase proof (from pocketgear) which I don't have anymore.

If someone can have for me the correct version for Magician I'll appreciate it.

Thanks.

Well, it will be the case if U always keep yr jam in a cool place. My jam get quite warm when I o/c it w/ PHM and it will become very unstable if it get too hot.

For XcpuScaler, I just don't understand the point of installing it if all it does is just give U a fake value to make U feel happy. (unless people want to use it to underclock the cpu)

@jackleung: that's not true anymore for version 2.86 upwards. It really sets the clock speed to higher values than 416 MHz, but unfortunately in too big steps.

Yeah, that's right. The 2.86 "maybe" really did o/c to 520mzh. I just have no way to verify the speed since it just locks up on my Jam everytime.

my O2 mini can't reach anything more than 468Mhz with PHM 3.05. :(
Seems like anything with BUS speed of 130 and above will crash.

Whats the fastest you can get?

Working? All 2.85d does is just show you a fake value of 520mzh but running at the orginal 416mzh. Load w/ other benchmarking software and figure it out.

vmirage: U can't try anything > 130 mzh for the bus. To get any speed higher than 468mzh, U have manual speed setting and play around w/ the multiplier. But be warned PHM is not completely stable too.

Jack

624MHz,SI:249[104:52:104:T]

I don't remember exactly, the way I got 494mzh (the fastest and relatively stable) is about the following in manual config:

Check "Turbo"
Check "half turbo"
LCD_26 = 1
Uncheck "Fast Bus"

not sure about the following but the bus is running at 123mzh
L: 19
N: ???
A: 1

Tried v2.86 and it ended up in a hard reset today. It froze at 520MHz and forced me to remove my battery for about 5 seconds to be able to reset it. Be careful folks!

Well.. I had a lot of these problems on my iPAQ 5450, but this was the first time on the Magician (since Feb). I did use XCPUScalar on the 5450 but never made the connection back then. This time I'm sure XCPUScalar was the culprit, maybe not on it's own but colliding with some other app, but trust me - I won't look further into it :)

Why does everyone post in this format: 468MHz,SI:283[117:59:59:T]
instead of actually telling us what the settings should be, like: L:19.0 N:8.0 A: 1 Turbo Half-Turbo LCD26:1 otherwise it's impossible to get these without clicking every combination. There are like different ways to to reach 468, but the LCD is too high or when you start clicking down on the N value the bus will double on the LCD for no reason. Can someone take the time to post the 4-5 speeds from 300-500? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

PHM 3.05 only offers you 468mhz at 117mhz bus max. You can try using 3.04 which gives you more setting.

I've gone up to 741mhz at 124mhz with no stability issue. Can't do 130mhz bus as it will freeze. Note that higher bus speeds provide better performance compared to higher CPU speeds. I've benchmarked 741mhz, 679mhz and 618mhz at 124mhz bus and the results are the same.

468mhz at 117mhz bus performs better than 520mhz at 104mhz bus.

cheers,
Patrick

I've managed to go up to 928mhz at 124mhz bus and running stable for past 2 days. Battery life drains fast though.

Still can't hit 130mhz bus, hangs everytime.

Check my other post regarding overclocking magician. Anything higher than 520mzh is fake for PHM. Just use any benchmark program or Betaplayer and U will find the real clock value.

Don't U feel it doesn't make sense U can o/c yr machine clock speed to 200% with similar benchmark w/ 520mzh??

well installed the newest version on my mini and I noticed good speeds at full cpu utilisation, but the darn thing wont scale down quick enough. Never understood that.
Stays at at a higher cpu speed even though I'm using the media player and the load does not demand that sort of overclock.
Any work arounds?

wkwk
16-01-2007, 07:31 PM
well one work around was to set ranges 0 to 25 and 25 to 35% to 208MHz then suddenly take it to 416 till 70% and 520 beyond that. This has done the trick.
