View Full Version : Vinyl Skins for the Magician...

Having dropped my Jam, it is now a bit of a mess and in need of a face lift.
I don't really want a case for it, as that will add to the size and I have found a site that does vinyl stick on skins for a wide range of devices:
http://www.skinit.com/
They don't currently do the Magician and I have filled in the form requesting they add it.
No response as yet, but I imagine we'd have more chance if others were interested and filled in the request form too. I gave them every name I could think of when requesting it, to show there was lots of potential.
Anyone know anywhere that offers a similar service?
Cheers
Marc

Quite a lot of views to this topic.
I hope some of you are requesting Skinit to add the Magician to it's list of devices...

I believe the pictures silentdrum has shown look very much like the 'stick on' sheets you get to cover up panels in a cars interior; you know the wood, carbon, etc effect ones. They come in big sheets and you would have to be good with a craft knife to achieve a good look. Apparently a hair dryer does an excellent job around the corners.
There is a guy in Howard Forum who has done a similar thing with the carbon fibre look on his JAM (cant find the post).
For the Jam i dont think you can currently get ready made ones.

Guys..that skin wrap is actually from singapore...
check this out: www.gmask.com.sg
They only have 3 branches now: Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia..
One more thing, I have read that some people try to remove the skin from their XDA Mini, and there's a possibility that it might remove the logo in ur Mini as well...

Hi all,
I wouldn't recommend ordering those skins from skinit.com as I have ordered one from them just last week. I order the carbon fiber one and the quality is no good. First off, the color on the left side of the vinyl is darker than the left side (like a gradient effect). Second, it is not cut well. Altho it's very small, some parts were covered more than others (left vs right side). Last, I'm not even sure if they were using vinyl because it's carbon fiber on the front but the sticky part is white. So, it looks like there is 2 layers. The vinyl stickers i'm use to seeing has the same pattern front and back and very thin. Altho this is somewhat stretchable, it is still very thick.
Hope this helps you decide if you want to order from them.

Am I the only one who put it on properly? I put it on this morning, went on fine, and so far, it doesn't look like it's gonna fall off.

I've tried the link given and the Qtec section is blank- can anyone else confirm this?
http://www.skinit.com/cat--Qtek-PDA--pda_qtek.html
Maybe they've taken it off their website following a series of complaints? :P

Well it's a shame, because I've had my skin on for a few days now, and it's still fine. I've emailed them saying how happy I was with it ;)

I think there is some sort of knack in put these skins on- it is a skill to some extent.
It's very similar to putting on the vinyl skin effects on the car interior; if it's done correctly then it will last for a long while else it will fall apart within a few days. The same principle applies to car window tints also.
