View Full Version : New Rom 1.40 on FTP (Baked 1.40.110 & Radio 1.12)

I recently discovered that there is now a file in the Uploads/Blueangel/ directory of the xda-developers FTP named BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom.rar
The file (and the contents extracted) can now be found here:
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Shipped_Extracted_Updates/BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom
(EDIT MDAIIIUser: Moved file and corrected link)
This is a Generic 1.40 Rom with cabs from 1.40.110 Extended Rom.
I would like to thank whoever put this file up.
Note that the extrom folder in the archive contains some cabs that would not be included in a standard extended rom (eg SPB GPRS Monitor, the Extended Rom unlocker, etc), as well as some updated HTC cabs, so it is a requirement to cook your Extended rom yourself.
The cabs not natively a part of the 1.40.110 Extended Rom are:
AudioPatch_Media.CAB
CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB
dsp_en.cab
GPRSMonitor_2.20_WWE_BA_20041011.sa.CAB
TotalCmd.arm.CAB
xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB
Examples of HTC Extended Rom Upgrades found in this archive:
Old Album: 2.51 Build 16894
New Album: 2.51 Build 18454
Old 1.20 Photo Contacts: 1.20 Build 17957
New Photo Contacts: 1.20 Build 19167
The new Album now opens Photo Contacts 1.20 with the assign to contact command, where it previously did not.
The radio rom included in the archive is 1.12, it seems to be MDAIIIUser's 1.12 Type I Radio Rom.
The 1.40 nk.nbf is seemingly Type I: it will work with the old xda3nbftool.
This rom has Windows Media Player 10, and it seems to be a bit better on the battery. Mamaich (in a post below) has already found some issues, however. (Typical)
UPDATE:
The MMS cab file (CAB-ArcsoftMMS-20022-Magician-Generic-ENU-08Mar05.cab) included in this update causes the hardware phone end button to lock up many people's blue angels during a call. It is highly recommended that you do not use this new cab, and install the older version instead, accessable here:
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Multi%20Media%20Messaging/MMS_2.0.0.16_BA_1123.CAB

Just flashed the NK.NBF (CE ROM) portion on my PDA2k.
Boots up fine as 1.40.00 WWE on diagnostics screen.
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, version 4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0).
Device Information page shows:
ROM version: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Windows Media Player 10.0 build 15045.
Camera applet integrated in ROM, version 2.21 (build 19307)
Broadcom Bluetooth 1.0.0 build 3900, same versions across all Bluetooth files.
Single "G" icon.
All seems well.
Now, I'm going to piece back the Extended ROM with my customizations and get it going.

This ROM has several minor problems. For example ringer.wma sounds ugly, backlight is maximal after you leave camera app, but it seems that this ROM drains battery a bit less then previous versions, even with 1.12 radio ROM.
To fix camera you can replace camera.exe with a version taken from old ROM, I use EXE from 1.31
And this ROM supports 2 different camera chips: ADCM2650 (old, my device has it) and OV7660. So maybe it is designed for new BAs with an improved camera. Though both chips are limited at 640x480.

So what improvements is this rom supposed to have?
(I've installed it now)
mamaich, how can you tell what camera chip a BA has?
mamaich
21st April 2005, 07:45 AM
Broadcom-Corporation-BT-PPC-AV-Upgrade.cab - adds HID and high quality audio BT profiles
CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB - my program, adds "contacts" button to dialer, it is not the latest build
dsp_en.cab - adds "bass&treble" customization, it works on BA and Magician devices
I don't know what are the improvements in this ROM, except that it should be more stable (because it has a newer kernel build with MS patches integrated), it has a built-in 3900 BT, so you don't need to install it and lose about 1Mb of storage space, has WMP10, and this ROM is produced by HTC (or MS) and not created from other ROMs parts like I did with 1.33.51 ROM.
I have not tested the sound quality over BT headset, maybe it is improved.how can you tell what camera chip a BA has?According to a message inside HTCCamera.dll it detects camera in my device as ADCM2650

A quick Question, if I install the radio and rom, does it clear out extended rom as part of the upgrade, or do I have to do that manually first, so that it doesnt restore all my old 1.2 cabs
TheLastOne

It does not touch your extended rom. I would recommend cooking your rom first, then installing the upgrade.
Thanks, mamaich for your answers.

I have tried to read through pages and pages of threads to sort out my problem....
I have been helping pass on the knowledge I have learned from you guys to others when I see them ask... and understand how it must frustrate when people ask already answered questions..
BUT.. I cannot find the answers and I am sure the answer will help many people....
I have downloaded this ROM and would dearly like to use it. I have however a number of questions if I may..:
1) I like what I see in the extended rom on this download can I just use it.. if so how and can you see any problems?
2) I cannot seem to use the rom as it sais wrong country error. I have read may threads and have downloaded xda3nbftool as described by them but cant seem to understand how to fix the file for my country code.. I have the information and this is as follows.....
Model = Ph20B
Minor version =OB
Language code = WWE
Minor = R
Operator code = O2_001
Rom version =1.31.00
Minor = 00
Extended Rom version = 1.31.139 WWE
Radio version = 1.12.00
Please help guys I am sure there will be many people struggling as I am.
thanks in advance

magpie2000k, I do not recommend using the current extended rom. Some of the cabs are retail software, and unless you are willing to pay for them, you will be installing time-expiring trials. One of the included cabs is even corrupted. That doesn't even take into account that carrier customization is missing, among other things. I would recommend taking the time to understand how to cook your rom properly and then make your own rom using some of the cabs included so that it properly fits your needs.
As for installing the CE Rom upgrade, I can be of help to you for that. First, since you already have the 1.12 Rom installed, remove the radio_.nbf file that is included in the archive, so that it doesn't unnecessarily upgrade again.
OK, now extract the attached rar file and put them in the same folder as the upgrade, then run fix.bat. Then run BAUpgradeUT.exe and voila.
One again, however, I stress that you should cook your rom before doing this.

You are a star.. I take it using the fix bat you created for me the change from my details.... very kind of you..
I have tried to cook the rom. have read and thought I understood all of what was on wiki I have read every page, but when I do what I think it sais it doesnt work.. for instance I want to put the Audio patch enclosed in the supplied extended rom and it doesnt happen when I try and change the config text file it wont save it.. I have unlocked extended rom etc etc etc..
I feel that when I eventualy learn I will write a very very simple version of how to do it and put it up as reference to all...
If you can help in any way on that I would greatly appreciate it..
To all that dont know THE LASTONE is a star

The ugly sound of ringer.wma is caused by the new album application. I tried installing another Album version (older) and the sound of ringer.wma is different! So, maybe they think that this sound as we hear it is more beautiful????

As allready mentioned, there are some minor probs with a few applications in this Extended_ROM.
The most annoying bug is the camera. When used, it sets to the highest brightness, and doesn't set back to your default brightness after use. I cooked the FixCamera_18157.sa into my Extended_ROM, it sets the camera-app back to the build 2.21B18157 from the 1.33.51-Mamaich-ROM, but it works allright.
Remember, when cooking, that the CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB (by Mamaich) and the AudioPatch_Media.CAB will need you to tap away the "This was build for a previous ...". Don't disable your touchscreen in the case you will be using one of these programs (= don't execute the "EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPDisable.exe" in your 'Config.txt' hidden in your Extended_ROM).

hawk_mate, ensure that your config.txt properly links to the cabs you added to the Extended_Rom, and that you have an Autorun.exe included as well.
alanplum, I have not noticed that problem, I recommend a hard reset (did you fully restore after the upgrade?)

The cab named "BA_Version_140.CAB" which is included in the 1.40 upgrade is the cab that enters and updates your Extended Rom version number. Therefore, your extended rom must be lacking this cab. 1. I had to recreate my network settings, is there a way to create a cab of these?, so that on Hard Reset I can have them recreated (the cab on i-mate doesnt seem all that great appears to use wap)

I cooked my Extended_ROM with some files out of the 1.22.731-KPN-ROM, it has some .CABs that contain settings for my (Dutch) KPN-network. Maybe that's an option with your provider, just to extract some setting-CABs out of your own Extended_ROM..?

There are more types of these proggies available...use google to find them.
Works nicely, and you can even think about including all your settings of your Blue Angel (Owner info, etc), so you don't have to deal with that everytime after a Hard Reset. ;)

Fixed reminder problem.
After several Hard Resets and then installing programs one at a time I was able to isolate the problem to POCKETBREEZE.
A couple of Hard Resets later and for no particular reason it started to work with POCKETBREEZE installed.
Have been testing for the last 3 hours and have had no problems.
One small point. I do not like the "G" icon. How do I change it to the icon we had in the 1.35 version.

I just tried to recreate the hand problem, however, when I used the hardware end button, my whole PPC froze :/. Happened twice. No vibration troubles here.
Does the fact that I'm using Intellidialer make a difference?
So, what are the bugs so far:
-Camera brigthness: Annoying, but not too big a deal
-Hardware End: Serious, very annoying
-Ringer.wma: Only a pain if you like ringer.wma

[quote=alanplum]I think I've found a bug in the new ROM. If I use the hardware "End Call" button after a call the phone applications appears to hang. I have the same problem. But no problems with vibra. This ROM seems to be extremely unstable and buggy. I'll downgrade to cooked 1.33.51 ROM.
I agree. I faced the same problem today. GOing back to 02 1.31.139

Regarding v1.40.
If you dont install CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB and AudioPatch_Media.CAB the rom is working perfectly with the "end Call" h/w button.
I am doing some test on what is causing v1.40 to be unstable. The extended rom files could be tricky!
This version also supports mp3 for ringtones !

I have no problem with the end button, i have no problem with camera app not restoring brightness (it happens the first time, just adjust the brightness to a lower lever and that doesn't happen again)
I think everything is fine, the only thing different is the ringer.wma but if you use it just replace it with mamaich version for 1.33.51.
The only thing i noticed is that phonepad hangs more often than before, i think i will replace it with the version i used in 1.33.51

Are any of the files in this ext rom carrier customizations? If so,maybe this is causing some of these problems. I too am having the problems with dialing out and hanging up the calls. I noticed that it seems to be a little worse when I am using PHM 2004 at the same time. I have turned that off,and it is a little better.
I would like to use only the upgrades and add my Cingular customisation files, but I don't know which files in the ext rom I can or should replace, and which ones I can't.

The reason of device hang is definitly not my "contacts" program (CprogHook.WM2003_2577.cab) and not an AudioPatch_Media.cab. I've removed them - and the problem still exists. I've also noticed that sometimes the screen asking for a pin-code after phone reset does not disappear after you've entered a PIN.
I'll try to find the reason of these bugs this weekend. Replacing the file cprog.exe (it handles the red button) with the older version does not help.

I found the exact same solution here, just downgrade the MMS.CAB, and the button-freeze-problem will be gone.
About the brightness-bug with the new cam-app in this 1.40-ROM, just run the cam-app once, set back your brightness to the desired level, and you will no longer have that problem anymore, as already mentioned by ncruz before.

Well, I had left out the Caller ID features from my list. Dont know why no matter which version I'd installed, it may works for the first few hours and then, for no reason it's gone. No matter it's older version or newer 1.20 at the latest build. Always find it having it's own personality... Had also tried PocketX Picture Contact. Nice program but I think it needs an update on it's speed and ocassionally freezing when picking up calls.
Also found there is really a difference in the sequence of running the cabs in config.txt. Anyone could shed some thoughts?
And talk about sequence, what about whcih program/link should run first in the startup folder. With MemMaid, you can arrange the order, and YES, it does matters! i.e. in a wrong sequence, some programs just wont load properly, or even freeze while booting...
Am here just tring to share my findings, with my consumed time, to save yours. Happy testing!

Only once my phone freezed.
Then for only once i didn't ear what people says. Soft reset, and for now everything works fine. But notice one problem with media player.
First of all... i've installed betaplayer.
Don't know if it is because of that, but tried to listen some mp3 files, and the sound on earphones is terrible.
The singing guys look like girls when they sing... the girls look like opera girls... The sound is very bad.
Because of all the problems with freezing, made a hard reset without the mms and the audio patch.
Tried to load the old cab, but no luck... ba said: not an application designer for.
After i've instaled the audio patch, but no luck again.
So, dear users, why media player sound is so ugly playing mp3 files. And yes, also tried with betaplayer and the soound is ugly also.
Hoping some one can reply on this matter.

I have this same problem, at least with the camera, but, previously, I did not cook the Ext ROM. After following the instructions posted by, sorry, MII3USER, I know that it not just right, regarding the config. file to reset, only, the camera worked fine - sin ext rom - I cooked, by comparison of info on this thread, but I am a rookie, and all was well until I did a backup to retreive my contacts etc. . . Then, the camera gives me the same message as posted previously. I'm sure it is foolish logic on my part, - regarding the back up, but is there a way around this? My glasses are fogged, and I can't seem to see my way past this. Any suggestions? Manually replacing the info and programs seems the long way around, but it would probably work. Thanks

Check very carefully what your "Country ID" is in your DeviceData.txt file. For example, mine was O2___001 with three underscores, not just one. When you modify fix.bat, make sure the "-so" Country ID entry is exactly as it is shown in devicedata.txt.

qureshi, Intellidialer works perfectly for me. It's in my extended rom and installs just fine automatically.
If it's in your extended rom, make sure you put it's cab installer AFTER the Contacts cab, I think it does make a difference. Also check to make sure your config.txt links to the right place.
If it isn't in your extended rom and you are just trying to install it, you have to rename some dll files first before it lets you install. (ex \Windows\iacontacts.dll and \Windows\DisplayCID.dll)

You can go to my post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=111033#111033 and downlaod modified CABs of the generic Intellidialer and Intellipad that don't require you to rename files. These are the type of CABs included in your extended ROM.

Is there a quick fix to this like add another line to RUU.conf? Or is there another work-around? I would be v grateful for some words of advice. Thanks.

Hi Mamaich.
It finally locked up on me again,so I reloaded everything(AGAIN)and left out the Pocket Hack Master 2004 and it is cruising along without problems.

Hi All,
I thank for the wonderful ROM..I did upgrade few days back but could not find time to give feedback.
1.I foind Radio 1.12 unstable, as it made my PDA2k out of network, quite a few times, eventhough I was in network. So I downgrade to 1.10 Also, if you receive a call when GPRS is on, then GPRS disconnects and when you want to re-connect to GPRS, you cannot, unless you put OFF and ON the Radio.
Secondly there is still prob with the BT.PDA 2kdoes not wakes up when a call is recvd instantly and one has to frequently press the call receive button on BT untill the call is transferred to BT.Can anyone throw some light on this?
2.For those who are finding difficulty in incorporating Extended ROM, here is the easy way to do it with the exisitng Ext ROM files supplied.
a) First Just do the ROM Upgrade with the Radio and the Basic ROM.
b) The using the Ext ROM unlocker, unlock the Existing Ext ROM and using Active Sync, explore your device, access the Ext ROM Folder and delete all the files in it.
c) Now, copy all the files from the supplied Ext ROM into the Ext ROM Folder and Hard Reset your device. When your device Reboots, it will automatically install the Ext ROM and you can check the version update in the Device Information.
I hope, this helps

Sorry I'm new, and was wondering if anyone had tried the WMP10 on these newer ROM builds to see if it's supported by any of the $15/month music "rental" services that require Windows Media Janus DRM (PlaysForSure)? I'm referring to services like Napster To Go and the new Rhapsody To Go.
My i-mate JAM comes out of the box with WMP10 and seems to be recognized by Rhapsody To Go as supported, but Napster To Go strangely does not recognize it?
Both services fail to recognize my PDA2k because it only has WMP9 (ROM 1.22), but I'm hoping an upgrade to WMP10 will allow it to work with at least Rhapsody To Go...
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=341008#341008
P.S. Does anyone have any idea when i-mate will release an official PDA2k GSM ROM update (hopefully to 1.40)??

I have both "Napster to go"(N2G) & "Rhapsody to go"(R2G). N2G doesn't nativily support PDA2k with the WMP10 ROM. You can downlod your files local and then open up Windows Media Player 10 on your PC and then Sync to the PDA2k. This works.
Yesterday I decided to try Rhapsody again (used to be on them, much better than Napster, but didnt have the DRM stuff). R2G works with my PDA2k out of the box. No problems at all. It works native. Its great!
I unsubscribed from N2G immediatly.

Thanks for the good news far182 :)
I just talked to i-mate online chat support earlier, and the rep said their PDA2k GSM ROM update is supposed to come "SOON" (he typed soon with all caps), but he said the exact release date hasn't been decided. Can't wait... I guess I could also consider cooking up my own extROM and such like all you guys here.
It's too bad we can't get a built-in HDD (or a CF slot for a CF HDD) with our XDA devices. I'd bought us an iPod Photo (up to 60GB space) but it's useless for N2G/R2G. With our XDA PDAs we're stuck with just 1GB SD cards for now...

Well I've been running with ROM 1.40 and Radio 1.12 for a couple of days. And...
I like some of the changes, one being that at last it talks properly to my Parrot Ck3100. However, I haven't had to do so may soft resets for ages. Keeps hanging the GRPS. After I've made a call, GPRS is really troublesome to get going again. Din't have a problem on 1.31 and 1.08.00.
So I guess I'm going to give 1.10 Radio a go.
Any views.

My device data is...

What the... Just a couple of seconds before I read your post (literally) I had searched PriceGrabber et. al, and saw NewEgg and eCost offering the SanDisk 2GB Ultra II SD card for about $180, but they won't arrive until early May next month.
I was going to wait and order that, heh. Talk about good timing, thanks. Would this deal require some (stackable) Dell coupons or such, where I'd have to hunt through the bargain sites?
Previously I'd bought four 1GB SD cards from NewEgg for around $80 each (Kingmax brand 60x-speed 10MB/sec)...

The one I got was regularly 180, but Dell has (had?) a 30% off storage sale so the price came down to 128.
I just checked and it appears the sale ended yesterday - not to worry though, it was 25% a couple of weeks ago, then 30% when I bought it last week, I'm sure it'll come back again. Just keep an eye out on techbargains - that's what clued me in.
And to keep this thread on track, the Sandisk 2GB card works fine with this ROM :)

Thanks again jpg71. I just saw that Dell Small Business is currently selling the SanDisk 2GB with 15% discount for $155 (instead of $182).
And I'd also just checked TechBargains front page (before reading your reply) but couldn't find mention of a current deal, oh well. I did see TechBargains mentioning the Dell 2GB for $145 on April 10, then $136 on April 13, and the 30% off on April 21, so I see what you mean...
Sorry to sidetrack the thread! Will now look into cooking PDA2k extROM :)

BTW far182, I just noticed that Napster actually has a plugin component (separate from the stand-alone Napster app) which hooks directly into WMP10 on the PC. Using the plugin it looks like you can just use WMP10 for every function and disregard the stand-alone Napster app altogether?
(If your WMP10 shows the MSN butterfly icon on the top righthand corner of the window, you should be able to click on that and select the Napster online store instead, at which point it should prompt you to download the Napster plugin.)
So now, I'm still undecided whether to subscribe to R2G (using the Rhapsody 3.0 app) vs. N2G (using WMP10 app)...
Anyways sorry to keep discussing off-topic issues here.

1) I too, found 1.12 unstable. Although people told me that I sounded clearer to them,I found myself "out of service" much more often. I downgraded(?) to 1.10 again for now.
2) Many thanx for the "quick and dirty" ext rom procedure! It worked like a charm!

Hi All,
I thank for the wonderful ROM..I did upgrade few days back but could not find time to give feedback.

Well, first of all, my 1.40.110 Extended Rom contains imate customization, so unless you have a PDA2k, you will want to take out a cab or so.
You may also want to replace the camera cab I have with an older version, if the brightness bug annoys you.
Here is what I have in my config.txt:
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPDisable.exe
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\RestartRadio.exe
CAB: \Extended_ROM\BA_Version_140.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Default_ImateV112.001.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Album_BlueAngelAKU26_Generic_WWE_RC2 0.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Default_Button9_PIE.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\BA_OEM_PA_Remove_WiFi_Logo.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Broadcom-Corporation-BT-PPC-AV-Upgrade.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MMS_2.0.0.16_BA_1123.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\SetDefaultSMS.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Caller_ID_BlueAngelAKU26_Generic_WWE _RC20.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Default_JMM101257_WWE_1004.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Default_Fax_2.09_0720.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Default_MIDI561.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\VideoMMSB12_BA.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\SmartDialing_Magician_Generic_WWE_RC 13.CAB
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPEnable.exe
RST: Reset
The fact that we both live in Canada does not really have an effect of the contents of the Extended Rom, since I use Fido (for which there are no ready made carrier settings cabs made).

I upgraded to the 1.40 ROM and the 1.12 radio on Thursday. I soon experienced the same problem with locking up my MDAIII when I pressed the end call button when a call was in progress. It definitely is tied to the Arcsoft MMS file, since it worked fine after I deleted that file.
Then I had a problem with my Battery Bar program and the hang up button (end call button) when I needed to shut off GPRS. I deleted the cproghook file and it worked fine again after that.
I also deleted the CV2.41.386 cab as it was the PDF and PPT viewer. No problems so far, and not even the "no sound" issue, which hasn't surfaced in 3 weeks since I deleted Vito Voicedialer when I was using the 1.33 ROM.
In summary, I deleted the following Cab files:
CAB-ArcsoftMMS-20022...
CprogHook.WM2003_2577
CV2.41.386_wwe
I also talked for over 3 hours continuously on it, and only stopped because my BT headseat's battery gave out. The battery indicator on the MDAIII still showed 50% left. :P
No regrets after switching over from my SX-56

Just wanted to give my feedback on this ROM (with Radio 1.12 and 1.10). After first install, the system felt great, everything was just a little bit faster and little bugs like delay on tapping start menu after boot were gone, WMP10 was also excellent to see.
HOWEVER, after putting the phone down and turning it back on some time later I discovered that the phone had 'no service'. This happened several times over the day.
Anyway I decided that it must be the 1.12 radio and reloaded the 1.40 ROM with 1.10 instead, well same thing again: regular 'no service' in my home where coverage is usually ok.
So sadly I went back to:
Imate 1.22.00 WWE
ExtRom: 1.22.162 WWE
Radio: 1.10.00
Anyway after reload of 1.22 all the little bugs are back, but at least the radio always stays on. Seems like this ROM and radio 1.10 and 1.12 don't play that well together.
Hope that they get this worked out for the IMate 1.4x release.

You don't have time, so we have to make time available to serve you...?
You've got to be kidding me...
Have you read wiki? All the info, including a step-by-step guide of how to upgrade ROMs, cook your own Ext ROM, etc. is in there. People, including myself, have invested a lot of time to make wiki...
Nobody gets paid here to do this work...we are all doing this as a hobby. So if you are not willing to invest some time in a device that YOU own, why have the device at all.

I have recently installed the new ROM and a Cooked version of the Extended one (thanks to TheLastOne)…I have faced the camera problem (that is easily resolved by downgrading the camera cab) but i was not able to find (here) and to fix the problem with Photo Contact 1.20 (as far as i'I'venderstood is the version in this Extended ROM).
The problem is that even if it allows you to select and asassignidi files to contacts they simply wont work/play.
If you try to play them didirectlyn Photo Contact nothing happens...if you receive a call the midi will be ignore and the default one will be played.
Do you have any idea/solution?

Hi Guys,
Since I bought my Blue Angel October 2004 I was suffering from (phone) usability problems. Then came the Firmware upgrade 1.31, solved very little (if any).
Ever since, I have been upgrading "Radio" to improve phone usability. I then upgraded to Maimtech's. 1.33.51 with radio 1.10, then Radio 1.12, then I upgraded to nk.nbf 140 first day it was put in the upload folder (I did not use Radio 1.12 that came with it).
After the upgrade to 1.40 I noticed that Radio has definitely become much better and the phone is usable on Bluetooth. I hardly used anything from the Extended ROM 140 that was on the site. I noticed that Album caused a problem with ID caller assigning Midi tones.
I would like to conclude by saying nk.nbf 140 is a serious improvement over the previous 1.31, there are two copies of nk.nbf 1.40 and two copies of Radio.nbf 1.12. I would expect there would be an update soon for Radio 1.12 to fix few issues. But mainly I think that programs in the Extended ROM are the source of problems (newer versions does not necessarily mean better).

Delete the OLD IA_Contacts.lnk from startup folder (if it is there)
Make sure Photo Contacts is activated...SEE THE SETTINGS MENU IN THAT PROGRAM

3rd May 2005, 03:12 PM
No man I don't think the problem is the links, and by default the photo contact program is on...and there is no options to change the status or at least to change it as I mean it.
More over I think I found the solution...it is the Album, as already posted here in this forum it seems it "interacts" with the audio things (the ringer and in this case the midi)…I have notice a lack of quality for the midis and the fact that photo contacts was not working properly...
anyway i I've restored the old version of the album (BA_Album_WWE.CAB) instead of Album_BlueAngelAKU26_Generic_WWE_RC20.CAB and everything works as it has to...
now I have another (stupid?!) question what file CV2.41.386_wwe.CAB is supposed to do/be?
Edit: ok i found...it's a pdf ppt reader...another question then...does it expire?
Thank You, PandreoL

After play of files audio (2-3) or ONE alarm in amarmToday, stops to hear the sound! Necessary is soft reset. This is arduous enough when one switches off the bell of the alarm-clock, and he the second time does not wake...
Same happens to me.... anyone else?
This problem only with WMP! Not with other player!!!

Thanks to all your efforts I finally installed the 1.40 ROM. Went well without hassles.
It's a great improvement over 1.22. Haven't found any major bugs.
Now my MDA speaks English, but its better than what T-Mobile delivers.

I tried to upgrade my MDA III with the new 1.40 ROM from both BT and Dangaard. I have followed the procedure adding in the RUU.conf with [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1 but always got country ID error. I tried to re run Baupgrade. exe several time but got the same error message. Checked in the WIKI website that I still have to wait until there is a tool to edit .nbf. So, I decided to upgrade the rom to the one which is 1.40 untested as discussed in this thread. It went well but I have problem with the volume of the ringtone which is very soft. I tried to install Extended ROM from Dangaard 1.40 ROM but no result.
can anyone help me ?
Thanks

Interesting. I'm running the following:
iMate PDA2K (PH20B)
ROM Version: 1.40.00 WWE
Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol Version: 1337.42
ExtROM version: 1.22.162 WWE (Cooked)
But I don't have the "sound" problem described above. All works fine. If I'm playing a song, I can turn off the device, or close the application, sound stops, turn it back on, all works fine again (I do have to hit play on WMP 10). I even tried the following; had a song playing, went to phone, dialed a number, the song stopped, I connected, I disconnected, song started playing again. I'm running very little on PDA2K however. Magic Button, Sprite Backup, PocketTweak, Resco File Explorer, Tabbed Browser and IPStatus. I've had absolutely no problems and the battery drain is slower than previous ROM and it's quicker (my non-scientific observation).

I also have the no sound problem after terminating the WMP while it was running.
You can pause playing first and then terminate the program. Everything will be fine. If you use Today Plus, make sure that WMP is on your exception list.
To me, it's only a minor bug. In addition, during the no sound condition, I can still make call with sound/voice (not try for receiving call).

Ok, following your steps above, I also get no sound. BUT, when I close WMP using Magic Button's Close command, I don't have the problem. Go figure. I assume MB uses the same code string to close the program, it must not or is not doing something else that causes sound to fail. Anyway, load up Magic Button and use it's CLOSE command, all is well.

cease, that is an INCREDIBLY interesting point. While I personally do not use Magic Button, I take your word that it does indeed work as it should. I wonder then, how Magic Button closes programs, since it clearly does it differently than the OS. Also strange, is that when I use SPB's PocketPlus' Close on WMP only, I get the problem, but not when I use 'Close All' from the menu.
Has anyone noticed that before install the dsp_en thing, that WMP10's volume is higher at 75% than at 80%?

here is batch file for the 1.40 nk file. You need to put both files in the rar file in the same folder as the downloaded nk.nbf, run nk.bat then copy the modified nk.nbf to a folder containing the update files from a previous rom upgrade.

I agree TheLastOne. Very interesting. I'm not a programmer so I don't know how Magic Button is closing the program. I gave up on PocketPlus, too many other problem of the device hanging, etc. Not sure it was only a Plus problem, may have something to do with Intellidialer. I've removed it and now have had no hangs, no problems of any kind; both previous and new 1.40 version operating flawlessly. I've not noticed the volume difference but was not listening either; will check this week.
Also, I just downloaded Launcher, a program similar to Magic Btton, it also has a Close function. Using it I don't get the sound problems experienced by others when using the built in Close Program function. Very interesting. Launcher seems a bit faster than Magic Button on the new ROM. Plus works flawlessly on 1.40, which was not true on the 1.22 ROM.

Hi everybody,
I downloded the 1.40 and upgrade the PDA2K with cooked arabic Extrom without any major problem. I have two minor problems:
1. MMS not working although GPRS is working fine.
2. Voice quality is bad and it is same as others mentioned about going silent and have to reset to get back to normal.
Can any body help or give any hint to solve the above.

UNOPARATOR, I also have what you have, Imate, PDA2k, same configuration as you have, I took the plunge, went to the 1.40, 1.12 ROM on the FTP. All works fine if you don't use the built in "close" command. Use one of the other programs with "close". Close is a pain to get to anyway.

ahassouna, if you take the arabic customization cabs from the I-Mate 1.31 Arabic Rom, you will find that you can have Arabic customization in any rom.
UNOPARATOR, I recommend you wait for I-Mate's 1.40. I-Mate has a good track record for updates, when they get around to releasing them. The Qtek version that has been released is buggy and fixes none of the problems plaguing the device.

No, it is not important at all. imate's Arabic 1.31 contained customization cabs for a lot of strange Carriers.
I think that specific one is a customization cab for a company in Bahrain or something.
