Hi there i have noticed that ppl want to record their phone conversation so here is the trick i got from Pocket PC email.
Recording phone calls
Here's a neat trick you can do with your Pocket PC Phone Edition that you probably can't do with your old phone. Did you know you can record single phone conversations or keep track of conference calls with your Pocket PC? This would come in very handy if you would like to remember exactly what a conversation was about, days after the conversation had taken place! Of course, you can also use it to make sure you get what you are promised when you call your telephone company to sort out your account!
Before you do this, you should be aware of the laws in your area regarding recording phone conversations. You should also tell the person you are talking to that you are going to record the phone conversation. Having done that, read on...
To record a phone call, start the phone call as per normal, then once you have started the phone call, open the notes application (tap the button), tap New from the menu bar at the bottom, and tap the button. You should see the recording bar at the bottom of the screen.
Simply tap the record button to record the conversation.
You may get variable results depending on the device you are using, and may not be able to use this at all on some devices - particularly older ones.

... or you can just press a record button after establising a call.
On most devices this would record only sound coming to microphone, so other party sound volume would be low. This has been discussed several times before.

also it does record only in WAV files & still the recording length is limited to a certain maximum length! :P

Seems to me that what people would like is (NaturalRecorder)

But this is only Compatible with Nokia Series 60
unless some one knows how to adapt it

Guys, I've just had a thought about this problem (recording/playing sound from/to the phone)
How does the bluetooth profile work? This is redirecting audio through the bluetooth stack to the headset.
Would it be feasible to write a dummy bluetooth profile that would merely redirect audio in/out back to the local device, so that we can record it etc?

I once recorded conversation using Resco Audio recorder V 3.2...one can listen the other party sound.. relatively better than the notes application...
But I guess this will work much better in quiet surroundings..

Have anyone tried Simbsoft Voice Recorder?

Anyone any thoughts on the bluetooth profile idea?
Concensus is that it is not technically possible otherwise to record the phone through current software and drivers; I haven't tried other recording software, but that's not what I'm talking about...

It could work if someone can write a virtual BT driver, which would actually buffer the incoming & outgoing audio streams & write them to a WAV or MP3 file..
By the way, Resco Audio Recorder can record both parties in a conversation! I just tried it now on my JAM :D

ezzkht - re buffering Audio, that's exactly what I'm suggesting. I know some of the guys on the board are working on a bluetooth stack replacement. I guess I better post a new thread on this subject.
Re Resco: is it recording internally, or through the microphone and speaker? eg, is it dependant on how loud the phone volume is?

(RESCO) It does not depend on the volume of the phone! thats why i liked it 8)
Give it a try, http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/audiorecorder/default.asp

this would not work. GSM audio outputs are physically connected directly to BT chip and data does not go through any driver.

mamaich - thanks! Didn't know that. What do you think about Resco audiorecorder recording both sides? I've not heard of that before.

Thanks mamaich! I never knew that :)
So how could Resco Audio Recorder capture both streams together..?

BTW, as far as one-button recording start is concerned, you may want to check out the "One-button recording? Does it need to show the app window?" row in the article "Everything you may need to know about sound recording on the Pocket PC": http://pocketpcmag.com/blogs/menneisyys/112005SoundRecorderApps.asp
Almost all sound / audio recorder applications know this trick.

Go get PMRRecorder at http://www.1800message.com/SPWM5CallRec.cab
It works very well on my Universal! It automatically records calls! I take the recorded files and have my secretary transpose them to text. Audio level is very good.

I'm wondring if it was possible to use this and the combination of some mcro program as an answering machine.

You may also want to read http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=513&more=1 on this subject - it gives a nice overview of what you can expect from PPC PE devices and what applications there're to (even automatically) record phone calls.

this would not work. GSM audio outputs are physically connected directly to BT chip and data does not go through any driver.
Perhaps the very early GSM outputs on the first BT enabled phones were directly, physically connected to the BT chip, however on most of the HTC devices, the BT stacks are software based since volume controls on both the BT headsets and phone work to control the volume. (Software based, touchscreen volume control indicator controls BT as well as phone volume).
Now it is possible that both the phone volume control and the BT stacks are entirely based in the "phone" side of the HTC devices (many HTC's have a separate processor for the phone and PDA), however these are still controlled by software (or programmable firmware).
So someone with stack programming knowledge SHOULD be able to make BT stack clone that diverts and captures both audio streams for conversation recording.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I've never messed with the BT stacks, other than to use acbToggle to send music to my BT headset. (Perhaps someone might contact the developer at www.acbpocketsoft.com)

The Teksoft folks have tried to do this (see http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TekSoft%3A%20%22the%20MS%20BT%2 0stack%20can%20not%20be%20hacked%20to%20enable%20f lawless%20call%20recording%22 ) -no success. That is, it seems to be impossible.

I use Turbo Mobile Event ( http://www.turboirc.com/ppc/ ) and it works very well with my p3600 (Trinity) - it automatically record the call of the group of people that I need (bank-work-salesman etc...) but not the private group and also only if I'm at work - pity that the interface is bare

Hi guys
I am not software engineer, so don't know much about the same. But recently I have purchaed samsung c-6625 and I have install Vito 1.37, While calll recording it records only opposite person's voice, and doesn't record my voice at all. I have tried this with one note also with insert voice recording but same result. infect i need to put my speaker phone on even if i have to record opposite person't voice,
I can't understand why it is not recording my voice? As this is my day in day out feature i was looking in my phone, if this doesn't seems to be work then i have to buy new one again with same facility...
Can any one tell me how to record 2 way voice recording on same model.
Thanks in advance,
Regards
Atit

As this is an HTC devices only forum not sure if the ways to record calls can work for your device.
Anyway have a look on general section there is a very complete thread by menneyssis about that.
Good luck,
