OK, I'm sure I'm just an idiot, but I followed the instructions in the "Getting started" section, since I have the Brightpoint version of the Qtek, not the Dangaard. But I couldn't get it to work, probably because I haven't got the correct password in the editfix.bat. Can anybody help me with that?

See this thread mate...: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20770

Or read this thread, which will explain it also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20339

And uh, have you read wiki?

See my signature for link.

Hope that helps :)

Yes, I did read the Wiki. Didn't understand much of it, but I did read it...

And thanks for that thread, adding the line [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1 made it start updating! With any luck it will work. But then again with my luck...

Hello,

Updated my Qtek9090 to this version but the only complain i have is that the boot picture after a reset is UGLY. :x
They put a text in the image
www-windowsmobile-no + Qtek support number.
Is there a way to change the picture ??
I could not find anything about this ?
Does anybody have the QTEK cloud picture without the text.

Could you upload this to the FTP ?

Thx for your time

I wasn't that lucky... It just was stuck on "getting device info". Now I've got a unit that switches between showing a grey screen with USB and a grey screen with SERIAL... :( The annoying thing is that I remember I had that problem on one of the official upgrades, but I can't remember what I did. I probably just left it without a battery over night, though. Oh, and when I tried to restart that upgrade I saw the country ID error again. So perhaps just adding that line to the cfg wasn't what you were trying to divert my attention to in that other thread. Or was it?

HappyGoat

Restart your computer and try the upgrade again...usually works.

And no, that was not a diversion, why should we?

Mastiff

I should stop using long words with serveral meanings when I don't know all the meanings myself... I ment divert in the sense that you divert traffic - showing me the way to that other thread. :D

Could somebody upload ER2003Edit to the blueangel >> Tool folder.
I found away to change the splashscreen  but you need the ER2003Edit software to edit the *.nbf files

Thank you !!

Gotcha. I'm going with the one on the forum's FTP. I assume that's the same one as the official one I downloaded from the windowsmobile.no site. Maybe I can get my at the moment rather expensive paper weight back from "USB SERIAL"...

I often get the USB/SERIAL problem. Best thing to do is just kill activesync via task manager. I think wcescomm.exe is the one. Then just re-run the upgrade. Should run through, but it won't have anything in the screen that tells the to and from version info for the 'from' info.

Cheers

Aaargh! To quote a certain young mr. Brown with a rather round head and a wacky dog: "Good grief!" I thought I was rather computer litterate having spent the last 20 years around them, but any old dog can learn new tricks, it seems...

Finally the upgrade of the main rom went nicely, and also the extended ROM, it was very much a by the numbers job as soon as I understood where to look. Kitchen? Man, I know we've got something called that in my house... Oh yes, that's the mysteriuos room where my wife goes into half an hour to one hour before dinner and then emerges again with the food!

Finally the radio ROM, and I'm good, I hope. It will be interesting to test this stuff and see how it works! Thanks for the help! I feel like a dangerous hacker now, so look out, Norway! :D

It's the exact same Ext Rom just with the Norwegian files added.

ALL
I forgot remabc.remote.CAB which makes it possible to send and then receive an sms with GPRS settings from Dangaard

Mastiff
3rd May 2005, 04:04 PM
What norwegian files would that be? Sorry if I'm stoopid... If it's just the ability to set up GPRS (which I don't use anyway) I'm good. But if it's something I need, I wasted a few hours yesterday setting everything up again...

BoSJo

Go to my previous posted ext rom link and READ the ReadMe.txt file

Grap the OperatorConfig.PPC.CAB then you don't need ITI Remote Admin

Mastiff
3rd May 2005, 04:18 PM
OK, I'm with you. But the big question is if that norwegian keyboard cab will mess up the assignment of buttons to programs, like the Idedata version (called keymapper). I had to dump it. Also is this for the version with æøå on the keyboard or just the IE-logo?

Finally, I could just fire that one and the customize and operator config as regular cabs, right? Or do I have to re-install everything? Thanks again! :D

No messing up Key mapping.
æøå = READ the txt file "Note that there is another ROM for the newly released 9090 with a Scandinavien Qwerty keyboard."
Just run the .cab files, it's the exact same as if they where in Ext Rom

I did a binary Compare of the Qtek 1.40.147 and 1.40.149 CE rom and can confirm that they are the same file when converted to Type I.

Thus there is no need for me to post a Type I conversion as it can be downloaded over the old link.

Thanks for the Ext Roms Bosjo, looks like I need to open a 1.40 kitchen.

splash Screen creates a vacum (it sucks!

The two splash screens of this rom have the web address and the customer suport lines in them and I think they are ugly.

Here is the splash from the Qtek 1.40.147

The thread for the conversion is.

I installed (or tried to) the rom. but my qtek9090's screen turned black with the text "serial" "v1.40" on it, when i put it in the cradle it says "usb" "v1.40" but it doesn't do nothing more. just the back screen with this text. power doesn't help nor does a soft or hard reset. removing the battery isn't an option to and charging the battery is also not working. what should i do? I can't connect to the pc because the text's come before the bootscreen.

Hi,

Did you connect via a hub, that is not working, and only give you a black screen

Cheers,

kill the update process and then try it again. I also suffered from the same thing last week while upgrading my imate pda2k. kkilling the baupdate.exe and reconnecting to usb solved the problem .

Hi All,
Thanks once again for the ROM.I hv done the upgrade and also insalled the Extended ROM provided.I had absolutely no problesm in Upgrading, all went very smoothly.

Since I hv not used the Ext ROM files from the untested ROM, I hv BT stack which has the two profiles missing viz...connect to an High quality Audio Device and Connect to a key board. Will that make any diferrence?

So far No freezing of the device..

thanks once again

Can anybody help me??

The new 1.40 rom works fine, but my camera won't "initialize" after I did a restore from sprite. I have tried all of the patches from the wiki and the FTP. Is there any files or registries I need to leave out of my backup file before I was to restore it that could have effected the camera not working??? Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Shane

Any restore after a rom CE upgrade is not a good option as the CE rom has changed.

Best practice is to just sync data and reinstall all the applications.

This could be your problem and your soution could be a reflash.

Mastiff
5th May 2005, 12:56 AM
You think? I would say that it's enough to do a hard reset and set it up.

HappyGoat
5th May 2005, 09:47 AM
You think? I would say that it's enough to do a hard reset and set it up.

Nope...

You should only restore things that are not registry related. The reason is that with a new ROM upgrade the images can be different. Doing a full restore can result in problems or slowing down of device. Better to reinstall all programs after a ROM upgrade and NOT restore from backup.

Restoring personal stuff and databases (email, phonebook etc) is OK.

Mastiff
6th May 2005, 02:28 AM
I said "set it up", not "restore". I was refering to the "reflash", which I assumed meant that he had to do the extende ROM all over again. But that isn't affected by a bad restore, is it? I know from experience (this is my third PPC in as many years) that restoring after a ROM upgrade won't work. That is if Sprite isn't on to something with their new version. I never restore anything except for a few files when I do a ROM upgrade, even the numbers and that stuff I prefer to reload from Active Sync instead of making a backup of them.
