I have a dual sim adapter fitted in my i-mate, to have my cake and eat it as it were, having loads of free minutes on a contract sim, and free texts on a pay as you go sim.

What I have been searching for unsuccessfully is a piece of software which will let me select the sim I want to use, rather than turning the phone (Flight mode) on and off. Has anyone come across such a piece of software? Is the i-mate already capable of this feature?

Thanks for your assistance.

not sure if this will help but .........

http://www.2-phones-in-1.com/index.html

shows a picture in there download section which looks like an options menu to do just what your asking. Maybe the web owner could shed some light.

http://www.2-phones-in-1.com/medias/photos/Simselect_menu_MDA2_with_digitaldualsim2.jpg

Would like to know the answer myself as this would solve the problem of carrying 2 phones (my own and a work phone)

cheers

I bought that King of Double from SaintJoy, but it doesn't fit! Has anyone have a solution?

They do fit but i agree there could be a better solution , the little ribbon cable you get could be alot longer.

Anyway to fit it, you have to release the sim card lock thing then carefully pull the plastic clip off the hinges that it fits to.

Then slide the double card adapter in with the ribbon cable pointing to the bottom.

now flip the cable back over the side of the clip and replace the plastic sim clip back onto its hinges.

lock the sim down with the slide lock.

Replace the battery but make sure the ribbon cable goes over the side of the battery, so that it fits on top of the battery while in use (i tried it underneath the battery and it hard reset my PDA, evey time you pressed slightly on the battery.)

now the top case plastic will be hard to get on now , but it does go down (with a struggle)

I can post pics if you need

P.S. to swap sims when the PDA is on, just select "Flight Mode on" then "Flight Mode off" again.

There is a thread http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=48824&hl=dual+sim you can refer to for more info.

The shop that sells the dual sim holder is at:

This is what you need. My little brothers using one in his i-mate JAM. You will have to cut the SIM cards up to get it to fit but it works fine. It takes about 3-4 seconds to swtich over each SIM. Probably the easiest way. They should be available in just over a week.

*i use this in my Himalaya and Blue Angel.
i can switch the numbers/carier when i need with STK.
Plese see the link(japanese site so just see the photo)
http://asukal.seesaa.net/article/845414.html

this is useing sirial port to copy your sim to PC, then copy to SuperSIM.
it takes 6 hours or something for one sim copy. only SIM V,1 can copy.

*also tested 6 sim in one with usb as follow

http://asukal.seesaa.net/article/2361582.html

only takes 40min for one SIM. also v1 sim is able.V2 sim cant(V2=large rom sim, 3G/2.5G or CDMA somelike high function)

*cut 2 sims rom and past on to one sim kit

I use supersim too. It works fine. I have 8 number on it.

But I think you are not right! I can use 3G with V1 sim cards too!

I created a software for myself, so I can switch between the numbers using the hardware buttons.

Supersim is the best solution to use more number in a phone. But our country is not easy to get older sims (V1) - becouse I can only clone this cards or write to supersim.

ya, i knew some 3G can copy into Super sim, but all of them are not able to be done, some of the Carriers of 3G seems protect to copy,

Also some kinds of SIM will be broken if try to copy, so i had better say 3G is not copied. it safty for friends.

thanks.

I use a 3G network with my supersim. There is no problem with it.
I don't understand what does "copy 3G into Supersim" meen. Becouse I cloned my sim card to Supesim and I ordered the 3G from my network provider and it worked. Do you use the 3G? Or doesn't work it with your supersim?

Asukal

yes i use hk csl 3G in my superSim. ok i should use another words. some of them can copy to super-s,some of them cant. not all of 3G cant. many japnese friends of mine tested with Thailand Sim,philipine sim, japan sim,Hk sim, china sim, vietnam sim, singarepole sim, some of them can use in supersim, some of them cant. depend on the cariers,or version of sim. or size of sim,and many of 3G sim cant. also big size memory sim cant, cdma either, edge either, japan vodafone either, ais either, all of philippines cariers sim either, generaly speaking, high version sim cant, lower version is can. just generaly, because i never tested sims all over the world.this is what i want say. hope u can understand what i want to say.

I am using the King of DoubleCard dual sim adapter for more than a year now.
I fits a bit tight, but you dont have to cut sims!

Just recently I joined the Sim Status Switcher by www.wivit.com beta test program.
THIS is the software one needs for switching SIMs and always being able to see what SIM is active: It shows (apart for operator) the phone number too (so you can identify the active sim when roaming too) via a today plugin.
It has quite some options (see demo slides on the site).
Although it is still in beta, no real bugs are there. Hopefully it will be officially released soon.

I just fit two sim cards into Universal Dual Sim and I only can change between networks by turn on Flight mode. Sim Tool kit that came with Qtek 2020i is not able to switch between cards.

I already registered on www.wivit.com to download SIM Status Switcher, but till now there's no way to download.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The SIM Status Switcher by Wivit.com is suposed to be released within a week.
(until then its only available to beta-testers.)
I am using it and I can assure that its worth waiting that one week

cruisng, if you meant to say youre trying to copy multiple sims on 1, i wish you luck.
I was told that because of security measurements copying will no longer work on newer (=all current) sims . . . .

edsub, yes I learned that to my cost, also I just tried one of those dual sim adaptors where you have to cut your sim to size and insert them in the adaptor, what a load of crap, there was no way to cut them to size without cutting the metal and the so called adaptors supplied that makes your cut sim full size again are a joke. My advice to anybody who is thinking of buying one is DONT. I didnt get it to work and the design is a joke.

kosmocos
11th July 2005, 07:50 AM
cruisin-thru, those adapters you mentiond above, they're running like a charm in my Qtek 2020i. I agree with you, some of the metal parts on the sim will be cut, but that doesn't matter. And those adaptors supplied fit perfect on the cut sims, so i think there will be no problem using the sims separately.

What DOES work (at least in a Himalya device) are the ribbon-cable style dual sim adapters (I bought one from saintjoy0_3 via ebay) from 'King of Double Card'
Big advantage: you keep your original SIM (no cutting.
This will only work if there is about 1mm (the thickness of any SIM) space in the battery compartment.

I am using one for more than a year now. Together with the Wivit SIM Status Switcher it is really easy to switch SIMs and to see what SIM is active

SIM copiers won't work in the UK (and I guess Europe) on modern sims.
Use a sim cutter if you need a dual sim, or a wired system.

What do you do about receiving text messages on the sim which is not activated? I know that you can divert calls to the sim which is online, but you can't do the same for texts.

It would be good if you could set up another inbox which retrieves messages from another number. In the same way in which you can set up mail boxes for email.

To shed some light on this, I am considering getting a dual sim adapter so that I can have my work sim in my personal phone, and divert calls to my personal number. When it comes to making business related calls, I will switch. However I would not be receiving texts!

Any ideas?

Besides copy a few SIM info into 1 SIM, how do you put in 2 physical SIM Card in the phone?
