I was looking around for some cheap GPS receiver when I found this one at expansys for €88.95. Anyone else tested it with the magician and have anything to say about it?

Expansys even tells you on their site it is compatible with Imate JAM...

Do really people exist having the ability to write but not to read?

I dont think that is a very nice tone and if YOU would have been able to read you should have noticed that my question was not about compatibility. I was merely asking if somebody had tried the unit and had any comments on it.
I think you managed to answer your own question... Expansys even tells you on their site it is compatible with Imate JAM...

Hello,
I understand the price can be one of the 1st motivation. However, I just bought the Globalsat BT338 (around 180€). Avantages: faster connection, 20 sat recognition (which means even in a covered parking it starts to recognize your position before you exit) and never lost in a city when surrounded by high buildings, and last but not least 17hours of autonomy. Believe me make the effort to pay a bit more, and you won't be diapointed by all the missing features I just mentioned !
Cheers
Régis

Note: it only comes with a car charger not a home charger.

Also you will need to install the latest TomTom Bluetooth patch for it to work.

Thanks for the replies. About car-charger I really dont mind since I have one of those cool cigarettelighter kits in my computer:).
I think I will go for Navigon as software instead of Tom-tom, tried them both and I was more comfortable with the GUI on Navigon than Tom-tom.
The question about 12 or 20 channels could be the deciding point though, I will surely consider going for the Globalsat 338, read some reviews that praises it also.

Ive just got one of these and it works like a dream with tomtom 5. Just make sure you select wired (other) in tomtom and not bluetooth! ;) dont ask me why!

Works fine for me, on the MDAc with Both TomTom 3 and 5.

I had to buy a home charger extra as it only comes with a car charger.

I have one too and use with Mapopolis. It took me some time to figure how to connect it, but now it's working just fine. My only concern is that it looks really flimsy. I guess you get what you pay for...
