Help in setting up USB modem

Hi all and what a great forum this is being a new XDAIIi user it has help me to get started. The problem I am having is that I want to use the modem over the USB link to my laptop on XP for when I am traveling. I sort of have it working on bluetooth but don't much like bluetooth.
The problem is when I plug in and disable the connection on activesync, I then go to the XDA and wireless modem set this up but the Laptop doesn't find any new hardware. Hence stuck in adding the modem, does any one have any ideas?????????

The other question is can the wireless modem be used over the wireless link as my laptop is wireless set up.

Hi Ian, could you please post some step by step instructions of how you got your XDAIIi to act like a bluetooth modem, as I too want to use my XDAIIi as a GPRS Modem on my laptop when I am travelling.

it's for smartphones as modems but my bet is that it helps pocketpc users awell
