love wisbar but i think it might be causing probs on my mda compact...any alternatives?

I love it to, and have no problems with the latest Beta . Have you tried that, it can be downloaded at their forum: http://lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/index.php

Wisbar and Pocket Plus are the first things I install !!!

However, as much as I love Wisbar - I wish it didn't eat up so much memory :(
