I'm sure this is a stupid question and that someone will tell me so, but why would I want to maintain a GPRS connection when I go into standby? What would be sent/received?

you could use it to stray online with messenger all the time

Wouldn't that require that I respond to messages occasionally and wouldn't that in turn require that the PDA is not in standby? Maybe I'm using terms too losely here. I mean the mode the PDA enters when you press the power button or leave your PDA inactive for extended periods of time. The mode that on a QTek 9090 is called the power state Standby (in the registry), where everything is put into state D3 except miniports which are put into state D4.
