Is anyone else running this cab file??

Before loading it, I pulled it apart with a cab editor to see what it was. I was very excited to see that it uncovered the radio band selction capabilities, so I quickly installed it.

But this where things got funny. I refuses to give me the option for the for GSM 1900, although it is clearly called out in the registry edits the cab lays down. I am running the 1.13 radio, with system 1.40.00, and was wonder if anyone else can verify this as a problem? I am wondering if this is a software issue in either the cab, system, or radio... Or to my horror is the SX66 retarded to triband???

Ok, looks like TheLastOne answered my question in another post. Funny that the site search failed to turn this up:

1) Phone Band Selection: BandSel_BAWWE_140921.sa.CAB
- I've played with this a bit, their cab is actually fucked up, as they have tried to get 6 selections onto the page when only 5 are possible. Through the registry you can have any band configuration you want selectable. I personally LOVE this feature.

GSM 1900 is the 6th selection, hence it doesn't show up. But this now leaves a glaring question, what are ALL the selectable options? I note the 900/1800 option with a value of 3, but is there a 850/1900 option(This would be prefect when I go to aruba), and what is that value??

GSM900 has a value of 1
GSM1800 has a value of 2
GSM900/1800 has a value of 3
GSM1900 has a value of 4
Automatic has a value of 7
gsm850 has a value of 8

So, what are values 5 and 6?? I could set those values, but I have no idea how I'd check to see what band I am current using. Anyone got any thoughts?

Either 5 or 6 is 850/1900, from my tests, but I forget which.

In my location, I have access to two GSM networks, one which is exclusively 1900 and the other is 850. Set to either 5 or 6, I could get on both. (So I'm not positive it's EXCLUSIVELY 1900 and 850, since there is no 900 or 1800 here to test).

I did this a bit ago, so I don't properly remember.

The value is a bitmask:
bit 1: 900
bit 2: 1800
bit 3: 1900
bit 4: 850

so 5 means 101b - 1900+900
6 means 110b - 1900+1800
Setting 7 would make GSM to use 900, 1800, 1900
Probably the GSM part also tries to register on 850Mhz when 1900 is selected.

I ran the updated CAB file you posted here, seems to be working ok, although signal strength (on the new bands) seems to be weaker than what I had before installing the cab. I am wondering, is there ever away to revert back to the original band options or settings ?

I am wondering the same thing, because NONE of the 3 options i had available to me when I installed this (Auto, GSM 850/1900 (NA), GSM 900/1800(Euro/Asia) were selected.

When I selected Auto, I began ROAMING, and I'm not certain why. The only way I know of to return this back to factory state is to hard reset.

Does anyone have THE ORIGINAL CAB, before the mods were made so that ALL options were available?? I'd really like to have that cab so that I can see what option my PDA2k on Cingular was using...

Here is the original CAB file, it did not work on my SX66 (see the first few posts on this thread) so I modified it to use only 850/1900 and Auto. I have had no problems with the modified CAB. Signal strength has not been degraded.

the modified CAB put me into permanent ROAM no matter what frequency I chose (or killed the phone entirely because there wasn't a 900/1800 tower).

I managed to get a hold of Chris and he helped me make some registry mods that gave me the original functionality back.

Interestingly enough, I had to put the phone thru a couple of different SR's before it would stop roaming, even after switching back to JUST 850.

First of all, thans for the Band Select created by Cruzzer for US users. After I install his band select, it's the first time that I can use my phone in my office located in a basement. But I have a problem. In his band select, there are three options, automatic, GSM 850, and GSM 1900. When I selected automatic, my phone couldn't find the network. But when I selected GSM 850, it works perfectly. At first, I understand that by selecting my phone to automatic, my phone should search both GSM 850 and GSM 1900. But I don't know why it always show no network. Did I do anything wrong?

By the way, my phone is O2 XDA IIs brought from Thailand. (O2 Asia)

I believe that there is a bug in BA when working with GSM850.

In fact, automatic should search between GSM850, 900, 1800 and 1900.

Usually when using "automatic" where GSM850 networks exists, makes BA not being able to find any network.

Are you using WM2003SE ?

Yes, I'm using WM2003SE.

I also tried another band select created by one of our members in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297099 His band select gives four options:
1. automatic
2. GSM 850/GSM 1900 (north america)
3. GSM 900/GSM 1800 (Europe)
4. Reset Values to Zero
When I selected GSM 850/GSM 1900 (north america), my phone had no signal. So, right now I have to go back to BandSel_BAWWE_140921.sa.us and manually select GSM 850.

Yes, unfortunely, that seems to confirm my teory.

If it works for you at 850, keep at that. Just remember that if you upgrade to WM6, band selection will not be available and it will be locked to your choice done in WM2003, in this case 850.

Your BA, will no longer be quad-band (the same as mine).

Thanks for confirming the bug in BA. Too bad. I want to upgrade to WM6 but I know there is no way to select which band in WM6. So...I'm stuck with WM2003SE. I wonder, can we edit the registry to manually select the GSM band in WM6?

I've tryed and some other did also, but it seems that both the .cab and also registry tweaks for band selection do not work on WM6.

It does not mean that you will have a problem with WM6, but rather that the band that you have selected on WM2003 will remain "locked" when using WM6 and cannot be changed.

In my case, i'm using the 900/1800 band selection and it works just fine with WM6 (i've used Helmi's and now i'm using Xplode's) but i cannot select 850 for example.
