I know this isn't that big.. but it's better than paying 14 $ for PPC Techs for the adapter.. it barely costs 1$

http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=113091

you will need a cable containing 3 mini lines inside...
you'll also need a 3.5mm and 2.5 mm plugs...

with basic iron soldering you can get this to work... and I have great sound quality

check out the pics

Why border? Many *local* electronic shop sell it for about US$3-4.
I got mine at RadioShack (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F007%5F002%5F001%5F001&product%5Fid=274%2D397)

yeah .. i have i-mate JAM and it works very well...
it will work with any device equipped with a 2.5 mm plug...

well.. I searched local electronic shops first.. but i found nothing.. that's why i thought about making it...
if i found this mod all ready made for 3-4 $.. I would certainly buy it instead of waisting my time... But 14 $ !!! for such a tiny thing.. !! NO SIR.. I'm willing to waist some of my time doing this...
anyway I had fun.. :D .. that is what counts

cheers

Nice job

But i think its a not so good alternative to my bought adapter.
In german is an shop named Media Markt they are selling a
cournerd plug for 5€.

I think a cournerd 2.5mm plug is better than yours to wear the MDA in
the bag.

dude... all i said is how to make such an adapter.. I did not say it would be better or worse, since I have not used the pre-made one be4...

I think a cornered 2.5mm plug is better than yours to wear the MDA in
the bag.
as for the cornered 2.5 adapter...I agree. it would be better to use it instead of mine... however, I searched for an adapter like the one you mentioned.. but I found nothing, except for a very small white 2.5 mm adapter.. and I couldn't use it! :(

BTW.. you should have seen the ( prototype ) adapter I made be4 this one... it was a JUNK, but it worked :D ... I was just trying to see if I'll get a mono sound or stereo... since somebody ( here or in HoFo ) said that 3.5 adapter will give mono sound only :!:
anyway.. I got stereo, that's why I made a new one...

if only you are in the Philippines, I can sell you a good quality converter cable just like what you made and the 2.5mm plus is a L-type that won't extend out .

it cost merely 300pesos, in case anyone in the Philippines need one, just pm me, I am very happy with it and I even use my mini to play mp3 on my car stereo using it

You made that? That looks about as factory as it comes! You even used the correct 4 conductor plug! Excellent job!

Perhaps you could tell us a little bit about the parts you used and where they might be had?

It is a nice feeling when you make something... i'll grant you that, i did it for my Nokia6630. I converted the pop-port Nokia cable to accept normal 3.5mm headphones. Problem is, the time it took me to make...and all the messing about... i thought for my next phone, i owe it to myself to spend a couple of ££ and save myself the hassle. Lord knows i'm worth it.

So i did, when i got my next phone, i splashed out £1.50 on that monstrosity hanging off the ass of my MDA.

Looks shocking, yes. I only use it in the car though, straight into my headunit.

Moral of the story? Go that extra mile, your phone would want you to.
