Hi guys!
I am asking for some honest opinions here. I have an SX-66, but I won an HP4700 on ebay for my girlfriend. (Not a great machine, but the NICEST display I have seen in my life).
It's a little slow (not too bad, though), and doesn't have much RAM.
The display is CRAZY! Boy would I love my SX-66 with VGA!
Anyways, here is the issue:
I pay $420USD with case, memory and extra charger, etc.
The auction says it is perfect, and three months old from HP.
Fine.
I get it, and it has a little blue dot on the title bar on top! ARGH!!! Always lit. Damn.
Okay, so here is the question for you smart people:
I am not too thrilled about returning it, because I will lose in shipping, etc. etc. etc.
HOWEVER, I do believe that there should be a price attached to this problem.
If I were to sell a PPC on ebay and announce, "Warning: There is a dead pixel (always lit dot) near the start menu"...
...I think the bids will NOT be so high as a perfect screen.
The question is... by how much???
My girlfriend could live with the dot, it's not a big deal. Plus this is used, not retail. I don't expect perfection.
HOWEVER, I am an honest guy, so when I have to flip it on ebay, I will say "DEAD PIXEL". And I will lose high bids for that.
How much do you think it's worth?
An auction for the PPC+case+charger+cradle with PERFECT screen went for $420.
So how much less do you think would:
PPC+case+charger+cradle with PERMANENTLY LIT PIXEL go for?
I want to perhaps ask for a small discount.
$15?
$50?
$100?
How would it affect you if the auction said that???
Thanks!
