thanx dreamtheater... ;o)
just to be clear...
DOC = Disk-On-Chip
It is a flash chip, where your ExtROM and Storage resides.
Size of them is factory predefined.
With DOC_Tool it is possible to redefine DOC partitions.
Currently, the tool is configured to get maximal size for Storage and minimal size for ExtROM, because the goal was to get the maximal storage size on WM2005.
But it can also can be used other way, or on other devices and on WM2003/SE as well.
As mamaich told me today, he'd like to get max ExtROM and small storage on BlueAngel...
so if anyone is interested, let me know...
i'm actually thinking about some UI with slider to adjust DOC partitions.

buzz,
this is really a breakthrough in xda development...
great man!
few questions:
1. Can I use this tool on my XDA IIi or this is applicable to Himalaya only?
2. If I use it on Alpine, will my existing 59Mb of storage merge with EXTROM and get a higher storage? Will this Become a persistent storage so I can install programs on it and use the 128Mb main memory solely for runing programs?
thanks

hi yankee ..:)
about your Q regarding the Alpine .. actually you wont be needing this tool .. since the Alpine uses already the WHOLE DOC or the 2nd Chip ROM and use as Storage..
Extended_ROM is located already in Intel Chip ROM or the first 64MB ROM..

Does it runs on the Xda IIi Bro?
It'll be swell if I could unhide and unlock the Extended ROM and use your DOC tool.

It doesn't screw up. As long as you follow buzz's instructions, it works perfectly. :)

Will this work on a Magician at all? I noticed the docs state the Extended_ROM has to be unlocked first. Not sure if there's a way to do that on the Magician yet.

Note for BlueAngel users
I've attached a program that can repartition our devices. You can enter the desired size of your "Extended_ROM" in kilobytes. Min - 128 Kb, Max - 64 Mb. The remaining part would become your "storage".
After formatting the device should be rebooted. Of cause you should backup the contents of Extended_ROM and Storage folders. If you use "Permanent Save" feature, during first boot OS would ask to recreate files in your "storage" folder.
I'd recommend to use 128K extended ROM with only theft prevention program in it, and all other space leave a "storage".
Usage:
unrar archive to your device and run it. Enter the desired Extended ROM size, press "Format now" and reboot. If the program outputs format error - round your size to the next 128 Kb boundary and try again.
Theoretically this program can run on other devices that use DiskOnChip(R) TrueFFS(R) driver, but this is not tested. It would not work under WM2005!
After hard reset the extended ROM would be hidden, but it should remain writeable forever - my program resets unlock password to zeroes.
and:
Use this program at your own risk!!!

Hi Buzz,
Great work, yet again :!: :!: :!:
Man, if this forum supports the "bowing" emoticons, I shall add it here 100 times over!
Moving forward, what are your plans for the next version? Pray share with us!
You mentioned the UI slider to adjust the storage. I understand that quite a number of us are experiencing low memory at some point or the other. Perhaps that is due to installation of files (e.g. ringtones, fonts, themes) to the /DEVICE part, and Magento is using the same partition to allocate memory? I dunno, perhaps this will help us to manage our memory usage better!
Thanks!
Henry
