restore problem in 2003se

hi all,

After backing up my XDA II with active sync, I have reinstalled the 2003SE (sinmerged version). However when I tried to restore the backed up files active sync gives an error message saying that 'invalid stroge file, please select another storage file'

What can I do to have my backed up files restored on my XDA II

as i understand it then when you move to a newer version of MW then activesync backup are always incompatible
