It's my stories.......
I've an O2IIi Eng version and i try to change it to Tranditional Chinese Version. I search over this forum and use the tools of RomUpdate, NTRW, and hex-editor to replace the first 416Byte of a O2 IIi Chinese Rom by the O2IIi English Rom. Both the Orginal Rom I stored to a 1GB SD Card by using RomUpdate and edit the hex code in my computer. (As I got two O2IIi on my hand, one is eng and the other one is chinese version. :) ) They got the same Rom Version, but it doesn't work after i flash the edited rom. after the msg of "download fail, check sum fail" no matter hard reset or soft reset, it doesn't go back to the "O2" screen, but remain "Serial" at the top.

Did i done something wrong? missing any step? or this method is complete not working? Some one please help me, thanks a lot.

Hi,
I have a similar situation like yours. I d/l the Chinese SD image from this forum's FTP, hexedited the first 416bytes, flashed the rom, got checksum error, hard-rest, then stuck on the Dopod splash screen forever. Doesn't matter hard-rest or soft-rest, still hangs on the Dopod splash screen.
However, I can see the new rom is 1.11.06CHT. Flashed back to the Eng. version now. Hope someone can help :(

maybe it should not 416 bytes be changed.
