I wonder if MDA I's USB cable should work with MDA III. E.g., miniSync sells one lableled for MDA III, but the plug looks exactly like that for MDA I -- and XP says, USB device unrecognized... Is there a driver to make it work?

You need activesync installed first, once installed your phone should be recognised when plugged in and activesync should launch.

I have it installed for a million years, and it just seems not to notice MDA III with the same cable through which it sees MDA I just fine... I see conflicting reports on connectors -- are they different?

I've noticed there's a site saying it sells a cable *and* a USB driver for it:

Is there a free driver version available? If you google for
"MDA III usb cable drivers"
you get a lot of cables which look like MDA I ones -- no sping on the left on top of the plug.
Still wondering if all those cables are mislabeled... Anyone has a cable with a new, asymmetric plug like the MDA cradle has?
