Hi all

I bought my phone yesterday and it arrived at 8:50am this morning! :)

very happy with it so far (although having problems with wifi internet access)

Anyhow, I don't want to break any forum rules (so if you're an admin and this IS breaking the rules, please remove it and I'll find out that way).

I looked around for a good deal and the above was VERY good compared to everywhere else.

Not sure if this is old news to everyone on here but if it's not and you want the details (and it's not againt forum rules) let me know and I'll post the details of where I got it from.

Please note that I am a CUSTOMER and am in now way affiliated with the company from whome I bought the phone...or the network either! :D

Cheers

That sounds like buymobilephones.net to me. They've go the same good offer too.

Although if your a very light user this is tosh at GBP439.99 a year inc phone.
Where as O2's O2 leisure time plus with 100 texts + Promo 12mths for GBP20 a month and GBP99.99 for the phone is alot cheaper option for GBP339.99

Guess what i went for and I'm still using my old Genie SIM. :D

yep, that's where I got it.

Not sure where u got ya figures from though...as I'll be downgrading my tarriff asap - and I didn't have to shell out £99 for the handset :)

Each to their own though :)

Cheers

If you look on their site you'll see other tarriff's where the cost of the phone increases when your monthly bill decreases.

35(line rental) x 12(months) = 420 + 19.99(phone) = 439.99(TOTAL)
or
20(line rental) x 12(months) = 240 + 99.99(phone) = 339.99(TOTAL)

You have to be careful as some tarriff's can not be downgraded no matter how much pleading you do.

Not this tarriff.

Take a read on the FAQ section followed by the TnC's for both BuyMobilePhones.net and O2

This may sound like a stupid question but is there any diff between QTEC 2020i and XDA IIi? Spec wise they look identical is it just branding?

Also the Himalaya forum description suggests that the O2 XDA IIi is an updated Himalya called Andes however the Alpine forum description also suggests the XDA IIi is an alpine. Which is accurate and is the XDA IIi seen as an improved Himalya? If so is it a matter of time before the Alpine will have WM 2005?

Sorry to bombard you with questions I am just in the middle of deciding what to buy and the QTEC is favourite if the spec is the same as O2 XDA IIi.

TIA,

JamieT

The QTEK 2020i is the XDA IIi, the only different being the firmware, which you can change to the XDA IIi or I-mate PDA2 versions.
If you get the Qtek 2020i I do recommend you to upgrade it ASAP.

Other than that the only noticeable difference is the writing on the unit and the leather pouch.

Hope that helps you JamieT.

Why upgrade it?

I've been running on the standard firmware since I got the phone a week ago and I've had no noticeable problems with calls, general functions or BT (using Sony Ericsson HTH-600 headset).

Apart from that, I would know where to start with upgrading...roms, radios...it's all gobble-di-gook to me :)

Cheers

I found mine to be unstable, but then again mine is a month and a half or so older than yours so they may have updated yours at production.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll be ordering a QTEC. WRT upgrading I noticed that buymobilephones.net had posted some qtec rom upgrades as free to all, do you mean that typw of flash upgrade?

Just another quick question? Is the QTEC / XDA IIi seen as an upgrade to the Himalaya (XDA II) as the sales guy (and O2 website) says it is better spec. But when asking about upgrading an XDA IIi to WM2005 using th Himalaya instructions one reply back implied the XDA IIi is inferior (the comment went along the lines of putting a Lambourghini engine - WM 2005 into a Jaguar).

Does anyone know if someone is working on a WM 2005 rom upgrade for the XDA IIi QTEC 2020i. I guess I should wait until it is out of warranty before I attempt this anyway so I can probably wait a while.

TIA,

JamieT

As far as I know WM'05 is not possible yet for XDAIIi/2020i/PDA2

Can anyone tell me WHERE I can get the QTek ROM upgrades from? I bought my 2020i from buymobilephones.net but can't find a link to the upgrades anywhere :(

Cheers
