I have just got my XDA IIs and after a while of installing software and using it the device froze up completely. I made sure to follow the instructions for a soft reset and upon poking the reset hole (with the power button left unpressed) it reset.
The problem is that it wiped all of the data from the phone. I tried doing this a couple of times, both with and without the power button pressed in and the result is always the same... the phone resets and then the data is all lost... each time upon resarting, it went through the reinstallation of the customisation software that you get when you first turn on the phone.
I cannot use this thing if it is not possible to soft reset it, the OS is far too unstable! Am I doing something stupid here? Has anyone else experienced this or know of a way around it? I would be grateful for any help anyone can offer. If it is something really obvious, forgive me... I'm not at all familiar with the thing yet! Smile
The version numbers for the unit (read from device info) are:
ROM Version: 1.31.00 WWE
ROM Date: 12/13/04
Radio Version: 1.06.00
Protocol Version: 1337.38
ExtROM Version: 1.31.139 WWE
The version of Windows Mobile is 4.21.1088 (Build 14132) Second edition
The phone is connected to O2 in the UK.
