WM2005 uses persistant storage, so running xbackup is pointless.

Guys
The Backup manager from Sunnysoft works just fine. Even more, the backup is a lot faster and the file is a lot smaller. And what more, you can create a self extracting exe file!
the only thing that isn't in the backup is the personal settings and speed dial connections, but that can be done by copying the pim.vol file.
have fun

hi satya,
Using the built-in WM5 File Explorer, go to the root dir "\" (\My Device), rename pim.vol to anything (i.e. x.vol), copy back the saved pim.vol (backup file) to the root.

Thanks for this. Can you tell me this. I have backed up using Sunnysoft in Windows Mobile 3 SE (SIN's brilliant version from XDA-developers). Will I be able to restore in Windows Mobile 5?
I realise that Sunnysoft does a full backup (not just data) and so I wonder if there will be a drama with programs such as Calligrapher and Linksys WCF54G drivers etc.
Thanks :?:

I should have said that I was trying to avoid using Outlook ... but the answer was at hand. I use ActiveSynch and just use Outlook for the Calendar and Contacts backup. This will work between versions.
Thx.
