Hi,
I've noticed WM2005 marks your message as Unicode even if that is not needed, eg. letter á does not need Unicode to be transfered (and it is not using it in WM2003SE), however now all these chars switch the mode to Unicode... any work-around?

is the sms and mms already fixed with the current WM 5.0 ROM patched 3?

I have no mms installed so I haven't any such fix applied. My version is 5.03.02, installed this week.

When I disconnect the battery or sometimes after reset, NONE appears after R and G while booting, and MDA is not able to connect to the network. After software reset all works well.
[except as mentioned above, e-mail accounts become invisible]

Hi Everyone...

Amazing programming from many ppl here enabled us to install and experience WM5 on our BA devices...Anyways having some problems with my device and just wanna check if anyone has any solutions:

1. Sometimes when I switch on my IMATE (Not Softreset!) after sometime (Like 30 mins or so) I see that Outlook is running and it takes some time fo r it to close after pressing the X.

2. Having a problem with he hardware keyboard making mistakes during typing and also delay. Have read abt this on forums but just thought to add it as a record.

3. Syncing with Activesync is very slow though hassle free. Also the phone gives an error everytime when synced "Could not obtain IP address from the PC"? Any Help?

4. Can I use MP3s as ringtones? Plz help me on this one?

Any more issues I will be sure to get back.....

Thanks once again!!

Windows Pocket PC 2003 Yuk!

I purchased a Seimens SX66 and right away put WM5.0 and loved it, however my Bluetooth would turn off after some time and when I hit the power button. This really sucks b/c I use a Bluetooth headset.

I just went back to pocket PC 2003 and realized it is terrible except the Bluetooth works like a charm.

Here are the registry settings on my device with 2003. Can someone try this on a WM5 device to see if this will help with the Bluetooth issue?

I did upgrade on my PDA2K to WM2005 and radio 1.13 After some time I tried to use Wifi and with not much of success. I don't know whether the problem is because of the radio change or the WM2005. I've been reading a lot trough the forums but nothing like my problem has appeared.
Here is it:
Wifi starts up and shows the available network and connects to it, after two second it disconnects and then connect again - it goes on like that forever. In the network cards-> the available network changes constantly its status from connecting to connected and all over again. If I try to ping the IP of my device - no reply or a few replies and a few drops.
If someone has an idea what it might be case, help will be appreciated. I don't want to go back to WM2003 or another Radio since noone has reported this issue with the current versions I have. It's just very weird.
Thanks

Hi,

i realized the problem with the lost email account data after kind of hard reset (low batt), too. If i want to add a new one it says that it already exists :-(
Does anyone know some workaround to get new account settings?

Thx,
Wolfgang

if you are missing some pop3 mail accounts after hardreset and you can´t create new one because the message app complains about already existing names, you can use the email-Wizard-app from the ger t-mobile extended rom (1.42). This app will ignore the corrupted data in cemail.vol and you can reanimate the lost account.

Here is an update to my findings regarding BT and the power button.

I noticed in the registry: hklm\system\state\hardware is see 'Bluetooth with the value of 0 as well as Handsfree=0 and Cradled=0

When I check to enable Bluetooth this value changes to 1.
When I turn off the unit and turn it back on the value changes back to 0

I tried removing the Bluetooth dword to see what would happen and the dword entry was recreated after I hit the power button.

I then tried deleting the hardware key all together and the key was restored.

Is there a relation between a driver or the power button changing the 'hardware' key to default values of 0?

Is there a way to set the registry entry and prevent it from being changed?

I had to do a Hard Reset and everything came back except my two e-mail accounts. The problem is that they still exist in the cemail.vol DB but pocket outlook doesn't acknowledge them unless I try to re-create them and then it complains about the name already existing.

PocketBreeze 5.0 can see the accounts but they are not updating (I guess becuase POutlook ignores them). Are there any tools that will allow me to delete these accounts? I have tried using the e-Mail Wizard from the German t-Mobile Rom and it doesn't complain about the name instead it just adds a number to the end of the sccount name which leaves the ignored accounts there.

As for ActiveSTINK 4.1, I have to re-install it every time I want to connect (and then even reboot or it still don't work). I get this error "Unable to obtain a server-assigned IP Address." on both my SX-66 and the laptop when trying to use USB. Ironically both get IP addresses and I've tried hardcoding the IPs so the error goes away but AS still can't connect (unless I uninstall, install and reboot). I've even tried Bluetooth Sync and it just hangs at "Connecting" like the USB does..

Update on my two issues....

ActiveSTINK 4.1 is now working and I can't figure out why!! I guess the M$ Gods decided they liked me after I spent so much time on this over the weekend.

I fixed the e-mail account issue by reformating my storage after a hard reset (yeah, drastic I know but it really was that annoying)...

To safeguard for the future, I have acquired and installed SunnySoft Backup Manager which is much faster than xBackup ever was and seems to get everything (even cemail.vol). I was backing-up daily before and will simply continue the pratice.

Has anyone here ever restored from a backup made using SunnySoft? I'd love to hear how well it went (or didn't)...

Bob

this has gone beyond frustrating. anyone having any success getting bluetooth to remain on? I dont even have to worry about suspend, my BT just shuts off after roughly 10 mins of operation, even if it is currently being used to communicate w my wireless headset.

Hello all,

I have a MDA/PDA2K, just updated to WM5 with all the patches I could find, latest BT and radio version.

After I install the Camera2K fix, I noticed that my video is not no longer an option. Do I just lose the video cam function in WM5? I have read the forum but didn't find any other camera fix patch, Does everyone have the same problem? or just me?

Thank you all very much for your time!

I read in one of the threads that WM2005 usually runs slow on an SX66 and the solution is to disable (all) sounds? but wouldn't this defeat the purpose of having a phone if there's no audible alerts? that kinda sucks...

@joychui:
can you describe your problem more exactly? If you just see the Name of the Messaging Account on the upper taskbar and the menu softkeys of the messaging app but nothing in between (just your today-screen), there is a workaround: This only happens, if you try to open this app by softkey. Open it by tapping Start/Programme/Messaging or by Start Menu (in standard settings there must be a link) - after you did this for one time, any way of starting the application will work normal. This is a crazy bug, but it occures not very often.

Did this help you?

any advice on this? this is on SX66 device.

my apologies. apparently I did not have the latest patch. I re-downloaded BT fix 1.1 and BT now appears to be staying on.

/sigh....i lied again. it is not actually working. bluetooth is still turning off. One note I will add is that it appears to have broken again when I installed SPB pocket plus v3. I will do further testing. BT appeared to be working, and stayed on for upwards of 20 minutes but after installing pocket plus 3 it seems to be broken again. =(. no BT is a real showstopper for me as I use this phone in the car a lot. thanks for any help/advice.

hmmm... so i guess with all these problems with the current status of the wm 5.0 upgrade (at least the one here) it's not really worth it to upgrade (not yet anyway) until all these bugs are ironed out. for one thing i need my bt headset and my bt gps receiver to be active all the time whenever im using them. to the people who contributed to the current version of wm 5.0 we have right now, keep up the great work and best of luck... you guys rule! we are definitely headed in the right direction.

If you need to use BT for GPS don't you have the unit active all the time anyways? Just set the PDA not to turn off after a few minutes then BT won't turn off.

Fortunately, I don't use mine for a GPS or need to use a bluetooth headset and I'm loving WM5 right now. It's so much better than WM2003.

one question though, how is the processor performance? which blue angel variant are you using? coz i read somewhere that the siemens sx66 kinda suffers from slowdown after wm 5.0 upgrade. i mean it's not like i just want to upgrade so my pda would be "cooler" than everybody else's at the cost of performance and reliability. you told me to disable the suspend / standby function so bt wouldn't turn off? that would seriously eat battery power, and im not always near a charger or my car so that would not work for me... thanks for the tip anyway. wm 5.0 better than 2003 se? kindly elaborate the differences... from what you've experienced anyway.

I meant for the GPS functionality in the car. You can set on external power how many minutes before standy/suspend. Just set that to never. You do connect the PDA to car power while using GPS in the car, right?

Won't work for BT headset all day long since, yes it will drain battery power.

I'm using an SX66 with Cingular.

Persistent storage is a great feature in WM2005 that should have been in WM2003. When the battery completely drains, you won't lose all your information. I like the new look and notifications better than WM2003. You can FINALLY turn WiFi and BT on and off as you wish without having to reset your device. That was SO annoying in WM2003. I use Xpressmail from Cingular for push mail. WM2005 will notify me when I've received new email. I couldn't get WM2003 to do that for me so I had to resort to a third party application like PhoneAlarm to monitor my Xpressmail inbox. Speed as good or better than 2003 IMO. No problems with that. The phone application is WAY better. You can jot down a note from the phone application while you are on the phone and it will record when and who you are speaking to in the note. Programs written for WM2005 all work great. You will have to decide what is important for you. If you don't like it, you could always revert back to WM2003. Hope this helps.

I think I find out why my email accounts disappear: see

http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=35196

I have the same things ("No GSM" after soft reset and then no IMEI, email accounts lost, etc). So its is a hardware problem. I will get a replacement for my Universal (MDA Pro).

I was interested in Tikerz reply to Nookie about the value of WM2005. No doubt it is a cooler version with few additional features. However I am not convinced whether it is worth all the trouble you will face. As I can see many of us who have SX66 had already gone back to good old 2003SE. I did my upgrade to WM2005 recently but all I had was slow machine despite all the patches I promptly applied. It simply could not make a connection with my BT GPS receiver. (My receiver may be old but still works great with WM2003SE). What I really suggest frustrated SX66 updater's is to go back to WM2003SE and update their system to the latest system ROM and radio ROM available on this forum and else where and use some cooler apps freely available to get the look and feel.
Persistent storage is a great tool in WM2005 but you have something similar in WM2003 too - Extended ROM. If you follow instructions on this forum you can use it for great benefit to custom the unit for your liking. Now when I do a hard reset all my settings and programs are back. My owner name, Ringer volume, ring tone, Today screen and its plug ins and even my GPS software iGuidance is restored. All I have to do is a few more clicks to fix the button lock - (I could not find a registry setting for that.) and all is back to my liking.
I never had WiFi or BT problems as Tikerz described with new ROM upgrade. If you set your power and back light settings (I have a today screen plug in that will open these settings - freeware) BT will remain active right through out your journey. Anyway I always do a soft reset before I go on a trip using the BT because I use my SX66 heavily for Huge medical apps frequently - So releasing the some RAM always helps. Now that I have a button on the Today screen even soft resetting is not a big deal. (Freeware plug in).
I do not use mail on my SX66 a lot but I think if you set the app to check mail every X min or so it will let you know if you have any mail or not.
My post is by no means to discourage the development of WM2005 on SX66. All my good wishes for them and for their hard work so far. As Tikerz said we have to select what our needs call for. I will try WM2005 again some time later when more fixes are available.

2) ONLY the username and password are deleted after softreset (in My ISP connection with MobileGPRS, EVERY TIME after Softreset) so i have to set this every time new.

3) i upgraded the GER language files, i would prefer to change the softkeyboard also to germany layout.

4) Using TOMTOM is only one problem, every time i start TOMTOM new my settings before are away, for example i set to 2D, but every restart TOMTOM i get 3D view.

To change the Button 7 for example to start the GSPlayer (WMPlayer, i have no camera) i created a CAB, with manual settings in the registry after softreset WMPLayer comes every time again. With the CAB the settings really are saved.

i Have no BT/WIFI problems, only sometimes my MSN Messenger need more time to get online.
Yes WM5 its really slower, but i prefer to use it. In my case i use hotmail as a Push email provider ;-). I get my email the same time it comes in my post box.

Hi guys,
First and foremost, I will like to thank mamaich, and whoever had contributed, for sharing his WM05 upgrade for the Blue Angle. I had just upgraded mine and I like it very much. Looks and works really great :)

As everyone who upgraded had faced the problem of BT disconnecting after the device go to sleep, I have the same problem too. Even after applying the patches and going through all the fixes that many had posted, I still cannot get it to work. I then decided to go look for software that will re-activate the BT after I wake-up my SX66 and thankfully, I manage to find one. I will like to share it with you guys and hope it will help some of you guys out there who is still struggling with this problem....

The software that I used can be download from the following website:

http://oz.sciox.org/ozbt.html

Basically, it is a Automatic Bluetooth switcher for PocketPC . Just follow the instuction on the website for the installation. Once you get it running, got to the "Setting..." and setup the follow:

1. Under "If window is Active:", add in "Desktop"

2. Under "If window is Running(full caption) :", add in "Desktop"

3. Set "Unlisted caption:" to "Turn On"

2. Set "Wireless control:" to "Microsoft (SDK)"

Click "OK" and that will do it.

Try putting your BA to sleep for a couple of seconds and turn it back on. The bluetooth will be off initially for about 1-2 sec, and will turn back on automatically. (so wait for a couple of seconds before you tap on the bluetooth icon to verify the bluetooth status). The bluetooth should be running good :)

Hope this help :)

so, the bluetooth turns itself back on eh? but all the devices are disconnected? so that would mean you have to connect everything else again manually? not a really good workaround but it's a start.

This fix seems to work the same way the regedit works. The phone's battery still drains rapidly. Is this the case for everyone else that has tried it?

I installed the WM5 Fix CAB and also the button fix CAB. However all the suceeded in doing is making my buttong totaly useless. Futhermore when the backlight timed out after a minuet and the thing went into standby, it became a paper weight. The only solution was to Softboot and uninstall the two CAB files.

Seccond I installed the Camera fix CAB and "YES" now the camera works. BUT I cant use it to take any pictures, the camera buttong wont take a picture it just clicks. So whats with that ????

I cant find a fix anywere on here for the Back light though and thats realy anoying when I need to use it at night and the thing is blinding me.

The button lock still doesnt work and the only solution I have at present is to password protect the phone. That stops unwanted phone calls, but does not stop the back light coming on.

If anyone has any solutions, please post them and the link to any CAB files that might be usefull.

Thanks.

This thread is old. Use the new Wizard2Ba-TuMa 1.3 ROM, link is in my signature for the WiKi page (I'll update it to 1.3 soon, now it is for 1.2, but it has the url for the thread since it is the same as 1.2)

I had to do a Hardreset of my phone to make the ringtones work right, as none of the patches seemed to work for me. However in doing so I lost some of the utilities in my settings folder that were previousley carried over from WM2003. If anyone has a full copy of WM2003 windows left. Unfortunately I only made a back up copy of my EXT ROM folder and didnt get a copy of the windows root folder. So perhaps if possible you could make up rar file with everything in it for future reference. However for now I would greatly apreaciate the two utilities below.

GPRS set up utility.
GREEN AND RED Battery level meter.

Thankyou

My problem is that when my device is in landscape mode and i start the camera app it turns in portrait mode.
My question is: is it possible to make camera to work in both poratrait and landscape which will depend on display setting (if device is set to work in landscape so the camera will work in landscape too, if device is set to work in portrait, the camera will work in portrait)
This problem occures in all WM5 versions. (I have tryed them all)
Is there a solution ?

Ok been stuffing around with settings found i can get active sync to connect for a moment then i hear that annoying "undocking" chime

tuma did you change any time-outs or similer todo with the networking?
also could this be an issue with digital signing disabled? maybe digital signing and active sync partnerships are interlinked?

HELP!

Has anyone else been able to use Windows Media player after upgrading to WM5? Audio on my XDA IIs is very jerky, although i haven't tested any other players yet. General performance under WM2005 is very poor, it may be that this is the case on WM2005 native devices but i wasn't expecting it to be as poor!

ActiveSync problem

I also posted this in the TUMA 1.3 Thread:

I tried a sync with empty ActiveSync ("delete mobile device") and made a hard reset with my MDA. Then I put the MDA into the cradle, following the wizzards instructions (no exchange sync) and removed all sync options (no mail, no calendar, no contacts, ...). The sync endet successfull. After that I checkt Contacts, Mail and Calendar. This works fine for me.
Problems occured by checking "Media". After this my Sync failed with a disconnection.

Has anyone faced this issue before:-
When you are using a BT headset during a call and want to switch to phone, you click menu -> turn hands-free off.. right?

But on mine it doesn't continue in the phone.. My phone is just silent.

However when I click menu -> turn hands-free on.. voice is back to normal on the headset.

Anyway to overcome this?

I'm currently using a HBH-35 and BA-WM5..

Thanks.
Did anyone reply to this issue? I connot reconnet from BT either, nevermind running two cabs to enable the headset for use with WM to no avail. any suggestions? I also am having issues turning the wifi on. I'll try this latest wifi_fix.cab, but it didn't seem to fix the problem i'm experiencing.

You have to wait a few seconds, until it dials. But it works! On PH20B1 Devices there is no sound after all. Can PH20B users copy that? What about sound on your devices?

Dear friend, I am using XV6600 (CDMA). Is your PH20B1 also CDMA? Does it have CDMA signal, and ready to make phone call? Thanks!

how to solve the problem of microsoft voice command "Low voice while announcing the names" on wm6.1???
On my Tytn (wm2005) it fixed, but not on my touch pro (wm6.1)

Guys, Install Album with midi.rar , it will enable the album works with the camera file tweaked by Mamaich and especially to enable midis as ringtones good luck :D

I also created a cab file to let you disconnect from the G bubble while you're connecting from the GPRS.

Tonailed created a file to wake up the device and turn on the screen backlight the time you receive an SMS. Click here to download! (http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=7129)

To resolve the issue of the voice command "Low voice while announcing the names" on WM2005 install this patch:
