I have a problem with TomTom 5. When I enable my bluetooth Gps (BT-338) to use the SiRf III protocol instead of the NMEA protocol, TomTom does not detect my device. If I change it back to NMEA on my BT-338 TomTom 5 works fine.
Could anyone tell how to set it up? TomTom sell their own SiRf III device for TomTom 5, so surely you can use other SiRf III protocol enabled devices.
I did notice that TomTom 5 has an option for its own SiRf III in the GPS Config in TomTom 5, I selected this, but still no joy. :(

I got XDA IIi with TomTom 5.1 and Globalsat BT-338, and it works fine on other GPS bluetooth. To make it work i had to upgrade tt5 to tt5.1.
It is connected with bluetooth serial port com5 or 6 , i dont remember.
You just have to try, i think it is the 5....
Lets us know if you succed.

I think TomTom only works in NMEA mode. I will check for you.

I can not find any way to switch it, it looks like NMEA only

Although new to this forum (expecting my Alpine from ebay in a few days) I currently have a FSC Pocket LOOX 600 with TT5 and a GlobalSat BT338 GPS unit.
I used to use TomTom3, but recently upgraded to TT5, and after extensive research on other GPS & PDA forums, the consensus is that TomTom removed support for Native SirF from their GPS part of navigator, leaving only the (inferior in my view) NMEA protocols only.
Some users found a workaround was to remove all trace of TomTom, then install TomTom 3's GPS driver, followed by an install of TT5, in order to use the SirF-capable GPS part from TT3.
Although some people found this to work, I never got it to work in anything except NMEA when using it with TT5, and so went back to the stock TT5 GPS utilty.
Hope this is of some help
