I don't know which headset I should use with my MDA Pro.
I'm a Plantronics fan, but Jabra also makes good Headsets. What do you think about the new Jabra with LCDisplay? It would be a good complement to use the closed Universal.
Did anybody use this new Jabra?

What model Jabra? the BT800? That one has the number display for called ID. It's good. I did not think i'd get use to it, I prefer the older bt250 style, but it's not bad at all and supports voice dialing.
i got the jabra's BT800 and SE Akono HBH660.. i think i like the bt800 better

@ GM: Is the display a big helper? Does it only show the number, or ist it possible to see the name either?

Plantronics hasn't really released any new BT headsets. I'm still using my old M3000 with the MDA II. Try out Jabra since they seem to be the market leader for BT headsets.

i've used several BT headsets and the best ones i've used are from SonyEricsson ... I currently use both HBH-300 and HBH-608 and they both work fine on my XDA 2s ... the only thing i've noticed (comparing my XDA 2s with my SE P910i) that the bluetooth isn't as strong compared when i use them on my SE Phone... in comparison with other headsets, i think Jabra has been a good competitor as well as nokia ... i also have the O2 BT headset which is nice and small but the signal is really poor ...

I currently use an SE Akono HBH-300 and had an HBH-65 - they both work fine with my XdaII, though the 65 had crap battery life.

I am using the Oakley Razrwire glasses with my Jasjar 95% of time... Bluespoon AX 5% of time. BT has worked flawlessly on my Universal. I haven't had it drop connection not once.

It's a shame that the JASJAR only sends the caller number to the headset and not the contact name.
I've tried my BT800 on my SE P910i and it displays the contact name when used on that device.

@ Triband81: Plantronics released a whole bunch of new interesting Headsets:
Voyager 510, with extended system für "normal" wired phones
Discovery 320
Discovery 640, only 9g, interesting charging solution
http://reviews.cnet.com/Plantronics_Discovery_640_Bluetooth_headset/4505-5_7-31515626-2.html?tag=top
I ordered mine yesterday.
The Jabra BT800 sounds very interesting because of the display. But it lokks very large on the photos.
i think the bt800 needs the handsfree profile instead of the headset profile w/c jasjar has to display the actual contact name (if you check out jabra's website, almost all ppcpe's are not compatible with bt800). its either jabra released a new firmware for the bt800 or we'll wait for a ROM upgrade for jasjar

I have been using the plantronics v510, and it works very well with the JasJar. This is the only headset that I used when I first turned it on, I had to turn it down a couple notches just because it was too loud. Great headset, I wanted the 640, but couldnt wait for it to be released.

Anyone does know how to redial via bluetooth headset (HBH 660)?
MBastian
26-09-2005, 03:38 PM
@ guido: Try a "doubleclick" at the main headset button.
Thinking of getting the bluespoon 5g, I have no use for it right now with IIs, Mini and car phone... But after getting the Exec, BT is a must I guess and 5g seems to go well with it ;P
My headset- HBH Sony ericsson 662. Can see phone Number, can use voidial and listen music via bluetooth with Jasjar

How do you listen to Music via BT Headset and Jasjar?
I have a Jabra BT250v and an OMIZ Stereo Bluetooth MP3 Headset.
Both only support the Headset Profile on the JasJar. There isn't a HiFi A2DP Profile support on the Jasjar for my Stereo Bluetooth Headphones.
When I press the connect button, Voice Speed dial appears then disappears seconds later, disconnecing the Bluetooth Audio signal.

I am using the Jabra BT800 with JasJar, it is fine. It has good options such as vibrator, and it has a moderate size. The LCD is big enough to display the number as a whole. Wish that it may display the contact name in the future.

Mine is HBH662.. works fine on JJ, also my freind has the BT800 and he is is using JJ too, but he complains that it won't take all the calls ?!, but many are satisfied with theirs like you.
I choose HBH662 because it is firmer on the ear and lesser in size.
Offcourse, you get more functionallity with BT800.
This the first time i'm using an ear peice never had the requirement with I-mat, if you have JJ you will need one.
The SE HBH-608 work very well, is light and very comfortable and if you treat it well will give you about 8 days of use (I leave it on about 10 hours a day).

I'm still using my old M3000 with the MDA II.
With the M3000 I have lots of noise... seems to get better moving it far or closer from the JASJAR... (like the old times with the mobiles... )
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. BetoX

Anyone know where I can get a Bluespoon AX2 from in the UK? All the usual suppliers only have the older model.
I've been using the Jabra 800 which I'm afraid I found useless. The headset was too big and heavy. The display too small, and useless because it didn't have a speaker for the ringtone so you had to be wearing it to know you had a call. The sound quality was very poor for whoever I was talking too. The last straw was when it fell to bits last week, after little use.

I'm going to stick up for my Jabra 800 :) - only because the way I use it probably differs to yours. The headset is fat, rather than big, say compared to my previous headset, the Jabra 250. Granted it's not as small as some, but then "some" don't have the display.. The display shows the entire number in one go, and while it is small text (as you'd expect), it is bcaklit and I don't have a problem reading it..
Ringtone speaker.. yeah, I was kinda hoping that it would play the sound out loud, but it only plays it through the headset. However, it does have a vibrate option which works well, and to be honest, if you can't hear your phone ringing, then your headset isn't going to be close enough to get a decent signal anyway!?
Sound quality is much over muchness.. I guess maybe I haven't heard a "decent" quality headset, but I find the BT800 to be adequate for the job for both parties.
..and mine hasn't fallen apart yet :) -- I know this was/is an issue, but mine seems pretty solid at the moment. I wear it round my neck as well, so maybe it not being stuffed in a pocket helps ?

Hello Sir,
Question, how do you keep it around your neck? I haven't seen a hole where to put a lanyard to hang around my neck.

I have both the Jabra BT800 and the Tekkeon ezTalker ET3000. Both have caller ID and both have worked well for me. It is hard to say which I prefer. If I had to give up one, I would probably let the Jabra go only because of size and fit. I wear glasses and the Tekkeon fits nice and secure and seals in the ear. The Tekkeon design allows it to survive more abuse than the Jabra. But... the Jabra seems to handle the noise enviroment of the car better than the Tekkeon and the Jabra software can be upgraded to add new features. Upgradablility alone makes it hard to give up the Jabra.

I forgot to mention that I have used the Jabra BT800, Tekkeon ET3000 and the Plantronics M3000 on the XDA II, XDA IIs, XDA Mini S and the XDA Exec with sucess.
I just recently sold my II and I was given a Mini S to use for three weeks. I currently own the Exec and IIs

I know it has a display caller ID. But for example if it is in my pocket, how do I know if there is a call in progress?

i am currently using the Motorola HT820 as i am waiting patiently for the A2DP to be added to the universal.
I used to use the Jabra BT800 before this and while the caller id was a bonus, the connection was never as great as the HT820. I;m not sure why but when my phone is in my jeans, the HT820 provides a clear phone call while with the BT800, there is some static at times.
Am waiting for my other BT headset (GG Telecoms) to be repaired before I comment on that.

Bluetrek G2 works a treat for me, and soooo much battery life. I did have the Motorola HS810 but it packed up on me less than 9mths in. The G2 was cheaper and works better!!

Another BT800 here.
used it on a Blue Angel and the Universal. After upgrading the firmware the headset was "useable" on the BA but not brilliant quality & range. But with the Universal it's very good, range is up to about 4-5 metres, voice dial works very well, and quality is reasonable. I think the quality of the phone BT stack makes a difference.

I have a Jabra BT620s, the headset part is great... the issue is with the wireless stereo. It's working great the first time, but when I switch off bluetooth to save battery, and later switch it on... the music is al crapped (massive stuttering) The funny thing is that the Windows sounds are still working. But when i try to play an audio file of any kind, in any program... it wil stutter to the point that there is no music :(

I have tried a NUMBEr of them.. Plantronics, Logitech, BodyGlove (OK that one was a cheap ebay thing).. now a Motolora.
Recently I have been having a problem with a staticy connection..
Starting to thing its my MDA.. I did up grade to the 1.11 radio, currently up or possibly downgrading to the T-Mobile ROM (Was using the news DoPod). Hopefully that will help.
My experiecne though is the Motorola is the lowest and clearest.. (when there isnt any breakup or static.)

Guys, I don't really use bluetooth, but a number of people have been asking me to support A2DP in VJVolublis. I don't have a set, so what's the cheapest, but functional stereo headset you guys can recommend? If anyone has a spare, PM me to discuss.
