well the problem is i cannot run apps from the phone bc i dont have an orange simcard (and it is locked by orange)

Talk to Orange, pay them money, they will unlock for you.

tried an orange sim card but it appears to stay locked!! :shock: does the orange sim card have to be from the same country as the phone?

ok i swiftly turned on the flight mode now i can browse :D

I used info at http://www.modaco.com/INFO_Decert_SIM_Unlock_C550-t222786.html

used the registry editor to change values to

HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1 (RAPI)
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 40 (Cert)

which I assume unlocked security ( as culd not do online)

then used file from http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236

Ok , edited the registry settings and that worked out ok, downloaded the SPV Developers Services Kit , extracted all the files to my desktop. made sure active synch connection is alive, Orange Simcard inserted. I run the simlock function , request pops up on the phone , agree and then i get

Unknown error -2147467259 in read operation in the SPV Developers Services

any suggestions ? I tried hard resetting my phone and tried again , but same result..dunno really

edit : doh , 5 more minutes and i wouldnt have had to post .. The Cert.Cab included in the SPV Dev. Serv. Kit has to be executed from the phone b4 you can run the unlock tool. NFO file with these instructions would be useful but heh beggars cant be choosers....Working !!!!!!!

how did you turn on the flight mode without card?

you have to press the on button really quickly, as the phone is still booting
