Update Universal to Bluetooth ver 1.03.01

Downloaded from Imate which was uploaded on 15/09/2005.

It can be obatained from xda-ftp, the location is, /uplaods /Universal/Bluetooth .1.03.01/uni_radio_1_03_01.exe :D

I forgot to mention this updates your ROM, so make sure you save anything on your Universal before applying the above file.

I don't know any details of the update, so if anybody knows, please post for the rest of the Universal owners.

A. Reset your mobile again in bootloader mode (press 1. softreset button WHILE pressing 2. powerbutton & 3. camera button
B. Exit updater program and re-run it

When you run the updater it says that will upgrade the radio version from 1_03_00 to 1_03_00 not 1_03_01 !
For those how have done the upgrade, can you confirm when reseting the device that the radio rom is 1_03_01 and not 1_03_00 ?

confirmed. New vesion 1.03.01. UMTS works fine. Not hard reset needed after update.

Didn't do a hard reset either. What, can I say was this supposed to Fix? the only I bug I jave, is Skype crashes every two minutes, which if I can't fix in the 14 days I have to return this phone, it's going back to Imate.

Since yours is the imate version, are you registered for at the clubimate site? If so then when you login and access the support area for your Universal then hopefully there should be some details on what the update fixes. I can't access that area as I have XDA IIi, I can only access the ftp site with the file and no readme available in there. :D

• In some cases the built-in flash light is not intense enough for taking pictures in low light conditions. This is currently under investigation but quality can be noticeably improved if pictures requiring flash light are taken using Night Mode.

• Communications often stall when using IrDA for Wireless Modem connection. This will only happen if large amounts of data are received over a 3G connection (issue not occurring on GPRS due to lower connection speed).

• On the pre-installed version of Skype™, instant messages can be sent but not received. Also, when multiple applications are running in the background it is sometimes not possible to run Skype™. If this occurs, first close down some applications from the System Settings>Memory then run again.

• Playback of 320 x 240 resolution video clips in full screen mode are not stretched to fill the screen.

• Due to slow refreshing of the coverage indicator, the coverage information may not be 100% accurate in all scenarios.

• In the Arabic JASJAR:

• The “Back” and “Stop” options are not displayed on Pocket Internet Explorer. A workaround is to tap on the address bar, which will refresh those buttons to show the “Back” and “Stop” options.

• When Arabic contacts are saved to the SIM Card, the Arabic names become blank though the number is saved correctly.

Resolved Issues

• Corrected some problems with file beaming from file explorer.

• WLAN connection stability improved.

• Voice Recognition button operates correctly (single press for voice recognition, long press for voice recording) and can be configured from the Settings > Buttons menu.

It's not officially listed on clubimate but it was put into their ftp area. Personally, I'm waiting until it's offically listed. Perhaps it wasn't listed on the web site because the one on the ftp site isn't the final version. It probably can't hurt to install the one there now. But patience is a virtue :D

I dont this that you can use this to PDA2K. Its a radio ROM for a diffrent device.

Well i tried it on my german mda pro, and it gives a country id error.

Can we change the country same way as mda 2?

Hasent anyone been able to dump a english universal rom yet?
