View Full Version : Which one will be your choice?

Mugen Power will have an after-market battery for the Universal, so which one will be your choice ?
Original - Capacity: 1620 mAh, Weight: 44g
The Universal is big and heavy as it is (I love the machine though), so I would welcome every additional drop of energy/autonomy WITHOUT adding to its size .... 1800 for me it would be then ...

how will a much thicker Battery work? With that a new Bettery/Camera Cover will be needed ?!?!

to Wiz: thanks for your suggestion.
to m.zielinski: for the extended battery, we will have a tailor-made battery cover for it..

Just a stupide question, can this cover aslo include a Lens protection for the camera?
How big will it be ?

to Daimaou : yes...we will develop a cover that can protect the lens also. no need to worry about it

A better camera-cover would be a benefit in itself - so te maximum acceptable thickness would depend much on the concrete design of the extended Battery because you cant ever have enough mAh aside :-)

How much difference in Battery life does a 1800 mah get from 1620 mah?
If you can fit a 3600 mah battery in there without having it stick out, I would very much prefer that.

I'd go for the largest one, most definitely. I could not find a link to post my vote though, where is it?

I'd go for the largest one provided:
- it is not ridiculously expensive. $300 is ridiculously expensive. $200, I will have to wait for a special occasion like xmas. $99 and my credit card is out already.
- the extended size and weight does not require some hokey solution, and comes with a proper battery/lens cover that looks professional (although it is hard to get more hokey than what it is now anyways)
- the device still sits on its 4 little feet with the extended battery

So, Mr MugenPower, when the battery is going to be available and how can we get it? Can you post some information whenever its available, pictures will be helpful and also purchasing information.
Your web site was not helpful btw. :`(

Not that I'm looking for the work (:D) but I would humbly suggest you consider rethinking the way in which you categorise your product lines. The user experience could be considerably improved were you to introduce some form of assisted, device-based product location or even make clearer the relationship between battery and device.
Additionally, you might consider implementing an online store, or assisting the user in locating a dealer.

Dear all,
Thanks for all your information. We are now developing this battery and you know it's not easy to make the O2 battery. We need to test the battery and we need to have a lot of modification before it launch.
Pls keep on watching this we-site, I will post the latest information, such as photo and data in this forum.
If u have any suggestion or comment, pls do PM me .....
Thanks.

I don't know how to vote. I tried clicking, but that did not do anything. If given the choice, I'll go for the bigest capacity they can offer. Anyway I'll just keep that as a backup just in case the XDA Exec dies on me.

I would vote for the first battery: Its almost lighter than the original one and although has more mAh! - This is great!

Just a quick thought......any external charger for the spare battery? It'll be good if it charges the exec and spare batt simultaneously!! :D
I'd kill for a dock or charger that also charges an extra battery, but the only dock I've seen doesn't appear to do so. Bummer.

I'd probably take as large of battery as I can get so long as other accessories will still work. I'd hate to have to replace a case, car mount, etc because my XDA has become "FAT".
I know this would be difficult and perhaps a little "cheesy"; but, a nice case with an sewn in, integrated battery would be cool. This way, you can make the battery flat and the same size as the bottom of the Universal. The problem (insert cheese here) would be a connector from the battery to the USB port for charging. HTC should really put some contact pads on the bottom.
(PS, if anyone makes this, send me one.)

I'd be extremley interested in the highest capacity one in spite of any added size proveded it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. My Exec gets extremley heavy usage so more capacity would be very usefull ^_^

I think all of you has waited for a long time....and it's now the extended battery for the JJ will be ready soon...here is some photo for the prototype..
let's have a look......I think you can enjoy more time with this battery .....by compare with the original ....the capacity is 3 times......of the original...so u can have a 3 times of running time than the original....

Will you guys be offering a battery that fits within the original shell? If so, will it be same capacity or slightly more than the original battery? I love the idea of 3x the battery, but I need to be able to fit the device in my case and car holder.

Hi,
I like the fact that the finish looks professional. I wonder what on earth we're going to use to carry it and protect it?
I thought of a mod already, though not sure how practical.
If someone could create a software patch to pulse the camera light when a photo is taken, then what you could have is on the underside of the battery that faces the light you put a light sensor, and on the outside you have a "digital camera grade" flashlight which is directly connected to the battery.
The theory is you press the camera button, this triggers the "light" patch to pulse the light at the sametime the photo is taken, the light sensor detects the pulse and in turn pulses the flash on the battery.
End result, a more powerful camera flash.
For Video, the same software patch detects that the camera is in video mode and keeps the light on, the light sensor on the battery is designed so that the light on the battery stays on as long as the light sensor detects light.
Any thoughts?
Michael
Hi,
I think this new possible battery looks good and the possibilties it opens are great. Based on the pictures, my questions are: will the device be stable when it is set down on a table like a laptop? Or will the device tip over when you're pressing buttons on the keyboard? And will the device not slip? Since the original rubber stubs are rendered useless and the new stubs on the battery aren't rubber as far as I can see.
Please an answer 'cause I'm quite curious.
And I hope there'll be more info available soon (a.i. when will it come out and what will it cost?)

just click and have a lookI think it's great that you guys are offering a battery of this size, but I think it will not be for everyone (especially those who use car mounts or fitted cases). I believe there is a real need for a battery to be released for the Universal that does not increase the thickness of the device but maximizes capacity. The 2nd need is for a separate battery charger so we can keep an extra battery charged up and ready to go. Will Mugen Power release either of these items any time soon?

dear galt,
thanks for yr suggestion. For the charger and standard battery we are still under evulation.
Thanks for the update - I'm still looking to buy! :0) We know you guys do it right, so we'd love to hear that Mugen Power is the one releasing these items.

Hi MugenPower, when would the 4800 battery for the Universal be available again? It had been out of stock for a while now.
