Hi I would appreciate if someone could point me to where I can get this from. I used to have this on my XDA II. I upgraded to IIi and cannot locate this application from O2UK site. Ther, it is a part of the overall new ROM for XDA II.

Thanks in advance.

I beleive that this will have to be built into a new ROM. I have an xda2s. Many have tried but failed to extract the relevant cabs from the xda 2 and get blackberry working on the 2s. No luck after about 6 months it seems... So I suspect its the same flr the 2i have to wait for the ROM upgrade :-(

Not true. O2 should be releasing roms for xda2s and xda2i quite soon according to my contacts.

Thanks for the information guys. It is what I suspected. Looks like it will be a test of patience :?

jdee246, I hope your contacts are reliable; Here's to hoping.

I concur with jd246. I have receievd a few tech support responses indicating August or Septemebr release of xda 2s ROM with Blackberry client. Also heard from one forum member that is trialing it right now, so we should be close..

This is very exciting news if it actually happens. Like many other O2 customers, my patience is wearing really thin - don't you just love the way O2 releases products in blaze of glory, promising updates that never materialise and having internal support teams that never seem connected enough to get a straight answer.

To all those with HTC devices outside of O2, stay there! Behind their Show-rooms O2 is completely disconnected.

I am using both IIs and IIi clients, and have done since November last year. The ones I have now, released from RIM - you know, the guys that actually write the BB software in Canada - in the last month, are the only usable versions. Previous versions have had major interop problems (especially with Activesync).

And all operators need RIM to write the software for the new models, and RIM must do a good job, and if they don't they won't release it....

From what I know, it's out the 1st week of October on the UK website.

Ah..!! Southern Man!... I was going to protect your identity :-) I am glad that we are so close. Great news indeed. Any thoughts on when we might see the same for the Wizard and Universal? ;-)

We'll believe it when we see it! 02 have promised this for so long, and then in the next words of wisdom said that they have no plans to bring a Blackberry Client out for the s or the i.

I am not disputing your using the client - just that fact about 02 actually releasing it to us....the paying public....that bought their pda's expecting it to do something that it won't!

But....we do live in hope :-D

Yes, we all live in hope...for without hope, there would only be O2 Active!

But I am also confused... I was in the UK last week and went into a T-Mobile UK store. They had the MDA III in there (aka xdaIIs) and the brochure said it has Blackberry client connectivity...? Is this true and does it work? If yes, why couldn't we use that ROM on the xdaIIs. Anyone know??

OK I've installed this to my O2 XDA IIi

Installed the client software from the MY-XDA Website for the XDA II

Had my Corporate Account enabled with Blackberry Enterprise Server 3.6

Bu the XDAIIi Doesn't show an IP Address which I guess it needs before it starts up.

Does blackberry needed a certain enabled sim card? I can connect to O2 Active (Mobile Web) So GPRS Is ok.

Any Ideas Guys?

I've installed the update and all looked well until I ran the Desktop Activesync BB Configurator and I got a message that says - The Account is not provisioned properly on the Server. Does anyone know what this means? I'm using the SIM I had in my corporate blackberry 7230 so I know it's not that. Does anyone know if I need to make any changes on the BES to differentiate an actual Blackberry from a Pocket PC running Blackberry Connect?

Not as far as I am aware but I started straight on an XDA2 as my BB device. Had all sorts of problems in the begining getting it to work as RIM saw it as an "unsupported device". However, O2 managed to get that sorted. Since that, I have been able to swap between XDA2 & the usual flat BB device (not 7230) without problems. So it may be that you need to get RIM or your service provider to sort out. We did nothing to the BES.

Got it sorted... I got my Blackberry administrator to recreate my account on the BES. He said my PIN was constantly changing.

Got the new Blackberry ROM installed and working well now in Singapore under BES mode!
This version compared to Blackberry for XDAII is stable so far with better feature support. Comes with wireless sync for Calendar, ability to accept/reject meeting request and viewing of attachements (not downloading).

So far so good.

Hi cychiam, how did you get the UK ROM to work on your device? I have a Singapore model and when i try to install the ROM, it says not compatible. Any advice?

Hi cychiam, how did you get the UK ROM to work on your device? I have a Singapore model and when i try to install the ROM, it says not compatible. Any advice?

What I did was:

1. Get MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=25497&highlight=alpine+upgrade+country+error

2. Unrar the exe file downloaded from O2 UK site to a folder.

3. append [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1 in RUU.conf in that folder.

4. run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe

5. done.

Remember to backup your present ROM. Just in case it fails and you can recover back.

Thanks cychiam, but I'm sorry to say I'm no expert with software terminolgy - could you explain what Unrar means? Or provide a 'dummies' step-by-step guide? Also, how do I back up my existing ROM. Sounds like good advice to me! Thanks again, and sorry to be a pain but like you I've been waiting so long for the Blackberry upgrade and I don't feel like waiting any longer for O2 Asia to get their act together...

Unrar = extract the member files from the compressed .exe file downloaded from O2 UK site using WinRAR. Search the web and you will be able to get one installed on your PC.

For backing up of ROM, go to
http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=370&PN=1&bcsi_scan_33C159BC5ECA7DF6=S4lC1cQc0gx662/yfjN54AEAAACd2yQA&bcsi_scan_filename=forum_posts.asp
It has step-by-step instructions to backup your existing ROM.

Hello everyone... i have upgraded my O2 XDA II to the latest version compatible with Blackberry.

I need to activate the Blackberry services... but even if Active Synch works ok (so there is a physical connection between my PC and the O2 XDA II via USB), I cannot connect thru the "ActiveSync BlackBerry Configuration" software to setup the BES server information, generate the PIN, etc.

Also... on my device the Blackberry service seems like it is running...

Infact if i go to Blackberry menu i can see that i received (FROM WHO ??? ) an IP address s follows: 120.162.34.8.

Am I getting this IP address from O2 or from my TIM telecom italia carrier ???

I am confused...

Which SW have you guys used to setup BES account on the device??

Please help !!!

Carlo

Loaded the new Blackberry ROM and had everything up and running smoothly for a few hours with Blackberry working great but suddenly my PPC has now started to hang when I push the power button to switch off. Only way to restore is a soft reset. Any ideas anyone?

Already figured it out... I had backed up my original ROM to my regular SD card and this afternoon I slotted an older SD card in there just to fill the space (stop dust) which apparently turned out to be the problem. Once removed, the PPC doesn't freeze any more when I power off. Never crossed my mind that it could be related to an SD card. Learn something new every day!

Hi, I have installed the UK ROM on my Singapore XDA IIi with Blackberry support. I have a corporate BES server (Starhub network). I am unable to configure the device for my BES APN, IP address etc. Any help would be appreciated.
