Hi All. Good news. MDA PRO is definately available in T-mobile shops as of today. My wife bought one today and I've just finished setting it up and have left is to charge.
For anyone interested, it cost: £219.00 on Relax 200 (18 month contract) with 6 months half price line. Wow! Feel like a mug now, bought a JasJar 3 days ago. Well all's well that ends well. We're on different networks, but I also picked up my 3G Sim card from o2 today, so will be testing 3G video calls/conferencing and faster internet connection later this evening.

Yeah I have one too, £259.99 from scancom on uFix 15 (£15/month, 12month contract). Got TomTom 5.1 working on it, this is the most awesome device I've ever seen!
Disappointed about the lack of MSN Messenger though, gonna have to buy it from M$ :(

Do you know if you can buy it sim free or pay as you go with T-Mobile?

was negotiating for mda pro £200 + web and walk (£30/month = 100min talk + 40MB ) on a 18 month contract.
But only one available in Leeds .. waiting for next Wednesday - Saturday to get two at the same time.
Did not even get a price back even with insurance (£8/month)
no double battery - leather casing -
the T-Mobile guy didn't took me as a serious customers (I'm young ;.. ) so I couldn't play around with the OS as I wanted ... just saw the nice colour of the screen + first boot not even the wm5 start menu :( or camera quality .. :(
MDA pro official released is Wednesday with web & walk tariff
02 didn't not have any public release date ( even commercial version ) cheaper for the device but more expensive for the contract :(

My Mrs must have been extremely lucky if the official release date isn' till wednesday. Well, the salesman in T-mobile did say that it was the only one that came into the shop.
Why do they play with us so?

I had the feeling it was the only one that they had too.
Because they didn't do like O2 and do a marketing around the mda pro they need a quick other way to tell everyone that it will be there next Wednesday ... and it's working ... (marketing)
and I think also that's the reason why I didn't get any price on it.
Do you think it's valuable to get an insurance (£8/month) on it ?
My local T-Mobile shop told us that they should have it next Wednesday so waiting and see; (I'm going to buy 2 contract hope to reduce a bit more the price)
NB: Once I'll get it my main aim would be to run linux on it ;)

Hi lilliput:
Linux eh? Sounds interesting! A little out of my depth but that's an open source code O/S isn't?
Insurance? Definately a must. I bought myself a jasJar 3 days before my wife bought a MDA Pro in T-mobile and the salesrep recommended insurance @ £7.99 a month. Incidentally, I searched around the net for insurance for my JasJar and was also quoted the same price by most PDA/Phone insurance companies. It's cheaper if you insure a standard phone, but these PDA/Phones are then covered for loss/theft & accidental damage to the tune of £1000.00 So overall, I think it's a good plan. Additionally, after a years of insurance you will be sent a brand new battery for your phone!

Such a small world... Where did your wife find that Mda Pro? Oxford Street T-Mobile? I was looking for an Mda Compact today and I was shocked when sales woman offered me Pro, she said she just got two of them and someone is picking up one later. It's too big for me though 8)
So anyway, it's easier to find a PRO than Compact

rottie: She bought it in the T-mobile shop in the Glades, Bromley, Kent. It was the only one that came in to the store on Saturday.
But if you're after a Magician....got the wife's ex-magician on offer with box and all bits and pieces, including 512MB SD card

T Mobile assure me you're lying and that NO WAY has ANY T mobile store got any, or sold any MDA Pros and won't for WEEKS yet. Oh, and the Norwich store on Gentleman's Walk has one, too. Which must also be a lie.

yep it's Linux is an Open Source (and even more GPL software)
I've seen some really good version for mobile phone and wanted to tried asap.
(apparently I can even test it without uninstall anything ;) )
wait Wednesday to get one .. few hours to wait ... ARGGGGGGGG..
for the insurance if get a battery for free after a year might be worth it.
I was afraid that 40MB/month are not enough.. If you think about it that's just 1MB/day roughly;
What's the extra software that you get with the mda pro ?
(any SD with it ?)

Lol. I was in there on Monday. They still had one in - he got the box to show me. They are doing this new 'web and walk' tariff. 29.99/mnth for 100 anytime/any net mins and 40MB data. no txts are included tho... Phone is 199.99 on 12 month contract with that tariff.
Bloke told me they they have not started to advertise the tariff yet.
Anyway, I did not buy cause TMob have no 3G coverage where I live. I'm stuck with o2 I think...

Xiasma: What's your problem? Are you in the habbit of making false accusations? I see now that you have retracted your immature ramblings of lies. I can't be a hypocrite though, as I have done it to another member before only to find out that I was very wrong about him, so I forgive you....WANKER!!
I've been extremely busy getting to grips with my Jasjar and my wifes MDA Pro since Saturday, so have not had the time to read through all the posts. Get a life or call T-mobile in the glades, Bromley (0208 460 9154) and call 'Richard' the salesrep, to confirm wether or not a single MDA Pro was sold to a husband and wife of Saturday afternoon (the only one they had in stock!!!)
Anyway who really cares? If I had not got it when I said, they would have been available sooner or later anyhow. Anyway here's the link (proof) at Tekguru, where I posted pictures of both devices we own (check date stamps, u plonker).
Here you go doubting thomas:

Whoops sorry, you have to be a member to enjoy the benefits! 8)
Anyway can we get back to posting some problems and answers now? Does anybody else find that SPB Pocket plus 3.0.1 is still as slow as it's predecessor? Have given up with it and am just using Magicbutton. Works just fine!

lilliput: Hi again. My wife got a 512 mini SD card and adaptor with her MDA Pro and there's no value added software worth mentioning (a weblink to their personalised website for members) and a video streaming application. On the insurance side, they state that after 1 year (with no claims) you get a free battery, after 2 years a new device! Sounds good doesn't it? I signed up with PDA Palm Insurance, so let's see what happens.
I would appreciate any info you might be willing to share about Linux though. Please PM me if you're willing. Thanks.
rottie: so sorry, I've already sold the Jam/MDA compact. Had to recooperate some funds quickly. Hope you understand. :(

I think maybe humour doesn't come across too well in ASCII. My post was saying that T Mobile had told me that you were lying, even though it was THEY whom were clearly wrong. I never doubted you for a moment. In fact, I'd even seen one for sale in Norwich (which I subsequently bought). My dig was at T Mobile, not at you
Now go and pop a fiver into McMillan's, there's a good lad

Xiasma: Funny you should mention that. Coincidence or what! My wife and I went along to the Flybook sales office in the West end of London to check it out (as it has a dedicated SIM slot for GSM phone calls), but decided that the phone feature of the laptop was really more of an afterthought, and therefore gave it a miss. Funny ol world, eh?
