Here are 2 CAB files with the new Camera.exe its version 2.7 build 20117.
These cab files have the speckle (or Nosie) fix built in.
Download either one (not both) and install.
Please remember to backup your PDA before installing, I use Sprite before any program installation.

Here is the new camera file (V2.70 build 20677). I don't know anything about the older versions so I don't know what's improved. You can adjust the contrast, brightness, saturation, hue and sharpness from the camera aplication. I don't know if this was p[ossible in earlier versions.

It's true that you can't change it while using the camera. I hope there will be some decent camcorder and foto utility soom. When you look at Symbian devices (Iused to own a Nokia 6600) there are aplications that can record DIVX at 15 fps.

Go to Tools, Adjust and set the Saturation, Hue, Brightness, Contrast and Sharpness. After that the camera has the new settings immediately. Perhaps you have an old version without this option?

What does this CAB file do that the previous CAB file does not? Does it include the new Camera.exe?

No idea sorry, have only tested it on the Magician. It depends on the registry settings, if they line up then it would work.
Do a backup with say sprite, install and test, if it doesn't work simply restore from sprite and no harm done.

The build 20677 allows now also to set the limit
of the Video file size, not only to 300 Kbytes as before
but as a free edited value.
There is not much change to my older version though...
Still only 10 frames/sec in MPEG4 mode.
You can adjust the brightness, contrast and saturation
for less sprinkels and color dots.
Especially the saturation should be set to only 1 or 2 to avoid
colored dots in lower light conditions...
I still hope, that somebody will write a much better camera application
with at least 25 frames/sec in any codec mode.
Maybe if the Magician is overclocked this could be reached ?

P.S:Is it correct, that
ampda_Camera_SnowFix.CAB
removes itself from the installation directory
after it was installed ? Or is this a bug ?
The file is not anymore on my SD storage card.

Yes that is correct with all CAB files unless you do the following.
Make the CAB file "Read Only" in file preferences either with your PC or with a say Resco file explorer on your PPC, it will not delete itself after install.

You should of only installed one of the CAB files not both.
The new camera app (and i'm thinking the old one as well) needs to have an album app installed in the same directory so when you install the storage CAB file the camera app expects to see the album app with it.
If you install the CAB file "Win" version this will replace the exisiting camera app and the alburm would open as the album app is already installed under windows.
If you install the other CAB file "Storage" then this installs the camera app into storage and replaces the shortcuts to point to the new camera app in storage. So if you click on the album icon from within the camera program you will get an error.
I can upload a CAB file that has the new version of album as well and it will install into storage so the error will not be displayed.
I can't re-engineer the camera.exe file (only a novice) and have only hacked/modified CAB files. So as always what ever you do please backup first.

Will it also work in the Alpine too (2020i especially.)???
I downloaded and ran Camera_ampda_Win.CAB on my XDA2i (aka Alpine) after backing up and it worked fine. When I focus the camera in a dark place it will take a second then remove the colour noise from the viewfinder before I take the picture. Everything else works fine too, the picture saving, album accessing etc.
Cheers guys, this is just what I was after..

Hi. Thanks for the tip. I have some questions. I have Camera version 2.70 build 18727 on my XDA-Mini. If I install those cab files (only one of them I understand), what will happen to my old Camera software? Will it be automatically overwritten and replaced with the new version? Will the camera hardware button now work with the new version?
What are the other difference of the new version from the old version aside from the snow effect fix?
What if the new version will not work or I might find it worse than my old version....can I uninstall it and revert back to the old version? How can I revert back to the old version Camera? Where can I find its installer?
@all
BTW, there is an app called EASY TWEAK v1.1 from w*w.10gsoft.com and it has these tweak settings made especially for the Magician:
1. remove your camera snow effect
2. enable camera frame rate display
3. enable hidden editor function in Album
4. unlimited 3gp recording
I have used it and it works well! I have tried tweaks 1 and 2 and it worked!
Also it has another tweak for CAB Installation:
1. make installed cab cannot be removed
2. do not remove CAB file after install
3. prompt install destination during install
I did nos. 2 and 3 and it worked! The Cab file is still there after installation....and when you tap a Cab file, it will prompt you where to install: Main memory or Storage Card! :)

Ok the “Camera_ampda_Store.CAB” will install the new camera into “Storage” (you should have Big Storage” and will replace the shortcuts on your PPC to point to the new .exe on Storage. To uninstall you can uninstall from the windows “Remove Programs” but you have to manually delete and replace the shortcuts.
The “Camera_ampda_Win.CAB” will install the new camera into “Windows” in the main memory all of the existing shortcuts will work. To uninstall just use the windows based “Remove Programs”. It will delete the new camera.exe
None of this CAB files delete the old camera software it just adds the new files. It seems that if you copy a new version of any app your PPC will generally open the new file rather then the old one.
What are the other difference of the new version from the old version aside from the snow effect fix?
The only noticeable difference is that it will save pictures into “My Pictures” without the additional folders (which I hate).
What if the new version will not work or I might find it worse than my old version....can I uninstall it and revert back to the old version? How can I revert back to the old version Camera? Where can I find its installer?

Use a program called CAB Installer found here http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/cabinstl.shtml
