Himalaya PDA IrDa port as remote control

Does anyone know if we can use our PDA as remote control via IrDA port ?

If so, what would be necessary to install ?

In the learning mode I want to learn,I tap on any button and it should be learned and beep afterwards. But when I tap on the button,it just appears some text on the screen for a short while(less then 0.5sec=unreadable). Know someone why? Qtek2020 is in the list of supported devices.

it works 100% on my himalaya
but then i dident try to teach it
i just picked my philips tv from the profile

And what's the distance that it can be used for? I thing,that IrDA port is not so powerful as IR LEDs in RC...

but IR on such devices have a pretty narrow beam compared to one way IR's like on a normal remote so you really have to aim
